Several people have asked me what a Trunk 'r Treat is. I guess they must have started about 20 or 30 years ago because of the danger of having kids going door to door to get candy. Well, a Trunk 'r Treat is an organized event held mainly in a parking lot - could be at a church, a YMCA, a fairgrounds, etc. Known participants park their cars / vans/ firetrucks / ambulances / police cars in rows and hand out candy (from their trunks) to costumed kids as they parade by. The cars may be decorated, and the people handing out the candy may be costumed, too. Sometimes sound effects may be included, and parents (often also in costumes) usually accompany their children. Then there is usually some sort of "Witches Kitchen" - or nearby church social hall - where refreshments such as hot dogs and hot chocolate are handed out as well. It's basically a really big Halloween party, and lots of fun.
