Had fun at Trunk 'r Treat last night

Friday, October 30, 2009

Played a witch at a Trunk 'r Treat last night. Scared most of the kids and a few of the accompanying adults. I cackled for over two hours - and can still talk today! Estimate was that over 2,000 kids went through the lineup. Lots of fun!

Eating out with others

Monday, October 26, 2009

Eating out with others makes it harder to control what I eat. There's been too much of that lately. Although it's very enjoyable, it's very dangerous for my health! Had dinner with one of my daughters and her two children last night because they wanted to take me out for my birthday. It was lots of fun. BUT, although I tried to eat healthy food and not eat too much, I went over all my goals anyway.

Eating out is the worst for me too (especially when others are taking you out as a treat! Even more pressure!)

But you had fun (even if you went over your goals) and I think that is just as important as meeting your nutrition goals.

We always have another chance - another day, another moment. As long as you are taking care of yourself (in whatever form that is for you) you are succeeding on your journey!

I know how you feel. It is a challenge when we eat out with others but I feel we need to go out and enjoy our family and friends. You did your best even though you went over but you were mindful of our choices and that is a big step. Keep up the good work it will all work out in the end.

That's ok. There's always a 'next' time to get it right.

This is a learning process, a journey, something to adjust as we go along. We'll never be perfect and as long as you make very few exceptions to your new lifestyle, it will all work out.

It's a wonderful challenge and a lifelong committment!

Here for you along the Journey!

Make it a happy one filled with lasting memories.

Getting back into the swing

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Have been offline a lot lately partly because of not being able to use my notebook computer. My sister got me a new power cord for my birthday, so now I'm able to use it at home again. However, when I was out of town last weekend for my sister's 60th birthday party, I was online very little again - just enough time to log in and record some of what I ate. Now my computer has been security updated, and I'm just about ready to get back in the swing again here on Spark People.

Glad to hear your kitty is doing well. Had to go check out the picture of "Rusty". I have a younger version of "Rusty" which we call "Apollo". I've owned many cats over the years...or should I say, "many cats have owned me over the years" but I never had one with the crazy personality Apollo has. We got Apollo about 4 months before our white german shephard died. I think he tries to make up for the dog we no longer have. He loves to hide behind objects, sometimes just the tall grass, and jump out at me, all fours spread eagle...he's fun. In January our dog died, then about a month later we lost a cat we'd had about 14 years...luckily we had Apollo. We went from 2 MacCaws, one dog, 2 cats, and a 300 gallon aquarium down to 2 birds and a cat in a little over 1 month. Tough winter....
