Wow - Revelation!

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

I have been a SparkMember since 2007. I have used the "weigh in" feature sparringly but overall its been consistent on an annual and sometimes semi-monthly basis. Anyway, today was the first time ever that I ran a chart from 2008 - current to see my fluctations..truly astonishing. I noticed that quite simply, my peaks of weight gain come in the winter (what a surprise! :) and when I go on a run and drop pounds it comes in the summer. Seeing this is such a motivator for me because I am actually making progress right now (10 lbs lost since Jan 1) during a normally challenging time. If I can make it through to Spring losing weight gradually than - if 5 years of history repeats itself - I will really kick it up a notch and drop lbs when the weather heats up.

I'm excited!

Wow - lots and lots of fluctuations. I think a chart like that would be very useful for lots of people. I am not good enough with computers to do one for myself that way, but I may just do one by hand.

Wow! I wish I had found SP back in 2007 it would have saved me from regaining 30 lbs. I love this site for the insight it has given me into my nutritional needs as well as all the tracking that has helped me to understand how my body responds to different times of the month. I discovered that I always ate more on the first Friday in a 28 day cycle!??! Knowing that has meant that I can plan for that day emoticon

Reports like these always help to put things in perspective. This is a great tool to help aid in your weightloss plan and knowing where you tend to lose steam will be a great motivator for your 2013 goals. Keep up the hard work, I too am down 10lbs this month and I know it's not an easy or by any means fun road.

Sugar: How sweet it aint'!

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

pacificfit.net/article-archive/how-s
ugar-makes-you-fat/

I have an unbelievable sweet tooth. Add that to the fact that me and "moderation" don't get along and you have a recipe for disaster. I've been known to make it through the whole day with a pristine diet and then... hey look, the wife made brownies! Let's have 6! And then, why not wash them down with 16oz of Pepsi followed by the pallet cleansing package of starburst? While your at it, maybe we'll pop a few M&Ms (32).

That leads to a sabatoged night which leads to sabotoged day of dieting and excercise which leads to sabatoging my health.

This will be something I have to focus on - and HAVE focused on - in order to reach my goals.

I am the classic chocoholic but have been surprised to discover that after a couple weeks my taste for chocolate is quite diminished. This afternoon when I grocery shopped I picked up some Fit and Active sweet treats that are very manageable and within the caloric range SP suggests.

Motivation - Sex!

Saturday, January 19, 2013

Carrying excess belly fat definitely has an adverse affect on sex lives for men. Everything from performance to the low desire to do it. If that's not a motivator to get fit I don't know what is!

Something I have learned is to take each day as a new beginning. I liked to beat myself up over yesterday, when there really isn't a need or a way to do anything about it. I know your feeling and when I get in the mood to over eat, I try to at least do it less or healthier than I would in the past.

Good Luck,
