SMART GOAL

I need to decide on a smart goal. My smart goal will be to lose 20 pounds in the next 12 weeks. Yes...this will be difficult, but anything worth having is worth working for! will I have to make sacrifices? ABSOLUTELY!!

To achieve this goal I will have to stay focused...That means no driving through McDonalds...or any other fast food restaurant. That means saying no to cookies, cake, ice cream, and other high carb treats.

to be more specific....I will stay under 35 carbs daily. I will do this by packing my lunch and snacks with high protein, low carb foods. I will focus on eating meat, cheese, eggs, peanuts, and salads. these are all foods on my meal plan.

I will also exercise at least five days a week. I will stop at the walk track on the way home as much as possible. I will also incorporate strength training into my exercise program. I will do at least 10 minutes of strength training each day....focusing on a different body part each day.

when I get frustrated and/or discouraged I will lean my the Phoenix team for support and encouragement. they will be the support system THWT gets me through my low points.

ollowing this plan will allow me to be successful and meet my smart goal!

round 20 of BLC is going to be a great experience. Your main goals are to follow the eating plan and exercise on a regular basis. you will struggle...you will fall...but YOU WILL RISE FROM THE ASHES AND BE THE GOLDEN PHOENIX YOU ARE DESTINED TO BE!!!

you have to tools at your fingertips...USE THEM!!

set aside time for yourself to exercise and stick to the plan. do what you know you are suppose to do! BE SUCCESSFUL!! BE POSITIVE!! BE YOUR BEST!

New Team

I am so thankful for my new team!!! the members are so supportive and encouraging! Everyone accepts all the members and respects them as well...we are a small group of ladies who REALLY care about each other. We challenge each other to do our bests and give support when needed.

If anyone is interested in becoming a part of this group of people, please let me know. We are always open to having new members and will accept you as you are...at whatever level you are at... we do encourage you to do your best, but we never...NEVER...criticize anyone if they are not able to complete a challenge or activity. First of all I want to take the time to remember all those who gave their life so I could have my freedom. Also want to remember those who have fought and are still living with the things they saw while fighting AND say a prayer for all those who are currently serving our country. THEY DO A JOB I COULD NOT DO!!

I am frustrated today since I have tracked EVERYTHING I have eaten this week...have eaten at least 10 freggies each day...and have only had 2 diet pops this past week...and this morning I step on the scale and it is up a pound. I often don't eat enough so I have been working on staying in my calorie range and actually getting enough calories...when I do that my scale moves in the wrong direction!!! emoticon But then I think back to how much better I feel when I am exercising and eating healthier and I know I must continue on this journey however frustrating it may be.

I am thankful for the friends I have made here on sparks...it's funny how close you can get to those you have never met and in many cases never spoken to except through words on a page. I believe sparks is a special place for us to go to share our sorrows, frustrations, and joys with those who KNOW EXACTLY how I feel when it comes to my weight.

I want to take this time to say emoticon to 2 very special people who have helped me so much through my journey...JD394471 and PEGGYO...Peggy and I met through a crochet team and became partners on a challenge and we have encouraged and supported each other since that time. she introduce me to the BLC team and it has changed my life. Donna and I hit it off almost immediately and we have become very close. We know what each other are thinking. we support each other and encourage each other to continue our journey so to them I owe more than I can ever repay. emoticon emoticon emoticonBoth of you are dear to me and I will treasure your friendship the rest of my life!! emoticon emoticonthey may never read this, but I felt I needed to say a few words about how they have changed my life.     I can relate to that extra pound...... carbs will do it and so will retaining water! Always weight yourself in the morning after a toilet break. Water can weight a lot and up to three pounds by the end of the day. Its why I say weight yourself after you urinate in the morning. And as you get older and past menopause water is half the issues that can cause weight gain over night! Yes, ... and Up to 3 and sometimes 5 pounds for heavier woman! By drinking less water one day can cause your body to retain water and that adds up the pound; so when your drinking the same amount of water (hopefully 8 glasses of water) each day and then you don't drink enough another day in between, your body may HOLD onto a pound of water. So you can add weight on a day you don't drink enough or you drank too much!

Keeping track of your water intake and making it always the same will help you to know what you need and what your output is (if you care to track it)! Lol. Its easy to track water. Usually you will urinate the same amount or time with each bladder fulfillment. I count by minutes as to how long I urinate. Or you can measure what comes out as you drink water each day but you need to do it for a while to be certain of the average) . Keeping track either by time or volume you can tell it your retaining. Keep a Journal. Retaining water can mean a few things. A bladder infection coming on, or holding water because you had too much water to drink or worst yet not enough and even worst kidney failure or cancer. (That I hate to tell people that because many panic, but it is usually because your not drinking enough that day! So don't panic!) Its scary when you don't know!

Holding water and weight gain go hand in hand. It will tell you what you can get away with if you measure your intake of water. And know how your body responds. Sometimes water takes longer to be sieved out of your cells or kidneys or bladder.

(The body holds onto water when you don't drink enough or the same amount daily. And when you don't drink your sufficient amount of water or get it from your foods, the amount your body is used to, and your replacing water with soda pop for instance, it can affect your output of water and cause weight gain. ) And you water / urine output may go down! Or if you have a bladder or kidney infection your body will retain water in hopes to flush it out but cant when you have a fever. That excess water or lack of it, will reflect in the amount of your output and weight gain.

By Drinking daily the same amount of water you will know if its water retention or real weight gain. Or if the weight gain is due to eating too many carb foods! (Stuff I have learned!) HOPE THIS HELPS.

Home from church. good to be back with my church family, but thinking I may start looking for someplace else to go on Sunday night and Wednesday night. Havae my snacks ready to take with us on the 4 wheeler ride. Will be spending time today with another couple who we always enjoy spending time with. Picked blackberries yesterday so maybe we will find some more today to pick. I am enjoying spending time outside although it is extremely HOT!!! Drinking plenty of water so hopefully will see a weight loss this week!
