Sun. Feb. 02

Sunday, February 03, 2008

OK everyone get ready for the shortest month of the year, see who says first" Feb. just flew by". Was a very cold week early on ,very very high winds but the buildings are still standing. Is 22 above this AM, we can handle that.
Have about 6 to 8 inches of new snow. Have taken several walks out in the fields during the heat of the day, walking through the deep snow that has been caught by the corn stalks, that my friends is very good exercise.
It's been a good week, the BH is happy, the bedroom is done ,except for the new curtains, so were all happy.
Time to get ready for church, and have a good week.
Almost forgot, I lost 2 lbs. this week. I guess that southern fried chicken my BH fixed Friday night didn't hurt too much. It's called portion control.

Jan. 27th. Sun. the start of a great week.

Sunday, January 27, 2008

Things are looking up, the weather is 5 above this AM, my BH is skipping to a faster gait because she talked the old duffer into painting our bedroom plus bed accesories and curtains and still rubbing me to convince me for a new rug, the stock market has corrected somewhat, grain prices are trending up,but all my inputs are climbing higher, can't all news be good? My 45 year+ old water softner sprung a leak is the brim tank, but believe it or not my Culligan man says it's guaranteed for life . What a great life right? Whoops, forgot the bad news, gained a lbs. this week. I guess french fries two days in a row and greasy chicken will add a pound. Time to get ready for church. Have a great week. Thank you Chris, The Spark Guy. Skeeter

Skeeter, as long as you are AWARE that you are eating that chicken and French fries is what matters. I had a chocolate cookie last night but gave myself permission to eat it before it went into my mouth. NO MORE MINDLESS EATING allowed for Sparkers.
I enjoyed reading "Younger New Year" by Harry Lodge, M.D. It is a very motivational book.

Jan. 20th. Sun.

Sunday, January 20, 2008

It's one of those days, don't stick your tongue on a pump handle. Thats an old farmer saying. Sure glad I don't have livestock anymore, it used to take all day to thaw out water for them. Was 10 below when I first got up. Sure nice for the game up in Green Bay. tried to do a lot of house projects this week. We both did buy new winter coats, my old one was just too big and showed wear from my once big belly. I have a hood on this one and sure comes in handy when out in this frigged whether. Time to get ready for church. Now the bad news, the devil made me gain 1 # this week. I'm going to kick him off my behind [ my DIL won't let me say butt] this next week. Skeeter

Lakeland, Fl. is to have 49 degrees low & 59 high for today! We just came back from our 2 mile walk & that NORTH wind was really cold & I had my ear muffs on & both wore gloves. I feel sorry tor all back home & I would not want to be at that Packer game tonight. In Minn it is colder that IL.
I was up until 11 PM last night watching the Bulls beat the Detroit Pistons. Was a good game. Bad news for me was I did TOO much snacking while watching TV so I have weight to get off also before weigh in on this Sat.
Nancy & Jim were to get home yesterday from FL. I will be talking to Nancy today I know. I always enjoy reading your blogs! Anne

I am sorta burned out after trying to put my State of the Skeeter Address on three times, I would type it and then when I pushed Post the Entry it disappeared . Oh well thats life, just one more aggravation my parents didn't have to face. I t was a good week, temp. set a new high for Jan. and before this week is over might set a new low too. That's the joy of living in Ill. Have a good week. Wait a minute, I'm not done , don't tune me out yet, maintained at 180 for another week. I sure love this game called life. Have to get ready for church. Have a good week and keep on Sparking! Skeeter

I just read you blog & I have had that same trouble you hard with losing what you had already typed & had to start over. I agree with Dana her idea should work better. Lots of time I think I have nothing to say & go on & on!
You are have a good humor & DH also enjoys your writtings.
It rained sometime during the night & is real humid out. I did walk 2 miles &DH had to go back & get his bike the hip was hurting him. It comes & goes! Tonight we are taking a widower in his 80's out to eat with us. He is from Kentucky & owes 2 condo's here in Fairwood where we are. The 1st year we were here we was next door to him & I felt sorry for him all alone. He comes in Dec. & will be leaving end of Feb. First year I told him (he is such a nice dresser) I was surprised he had not remarried! Well I do not say that any more as I know why he is still single. He talkes only about himself & NEVER has he ask us any questions about our lives, children & all. He only has one daughter whom has sons whom he is very proud of. Have a good day. See I chatted on & on. Anne

Hi Skeeter, how wonderful that you maintained this week. VERY wonderful.
I'd like to be able to say that someday...I will... with friends like you how can I miss.
I had an idea about the problem you faced while trying to post, because the same thing happened to me the other day. I was so frustrated.
Maybe, some times it would be better when we're writing out big blog to do it in our e-mail or Word program first, someplace where it's safe, then just copy and paste it on our SparkPeople blog. It may not make sense to do it for all of our blogs... but sometimes, like your "State of the Skeeter" blog says just the right thing the first time around... and when we lose that info we never get it back the same... just a thought.
Hope you have a beautiful Sunday, that the Lord blesses you.

Oh yeah, about my organization... that's just the way I roll, I'm a dysfunctional mess otherwise... it sounds to me like you got all your ducks in a row :)

Talk to you soon,
Dana

State of the Skeeter Address#1

Wednesday, January 09, 2008

This is my 3rd. attempt at posting this on my blog, I hope this one sticks.
Have burned over 156,000 calories.
Drank more than 4,000 cups of water.
Earned more than 23,800 Spark points, now if someone can tell me what to do with them?
Lost over 50 + lbs.
I started on Sparks Jan. 7,2007, and this has been quite an adventure. I kept changing my goal lower with each success. The longer I was on the easier it became. How you might ask, what is the secret? The plan was right in front of me, be totally committed to the SPARK PEOPLE agenda, totally, count calories, fitness, watch portion size, drink the water, post and keep a blog and weigh often. My father always said "no one promises you a rose garden, you have to work at it". I decided my health was very important to me, and I better start working at it. Of all the diets I have tried in the past 50 yrs. this, by far was the easiest.
I reached my last goal on June 9th. 2007. 187 or 50 lbs. lost. At that time I wrote in my blog , I knew the journey was not over but just beginning. MAINTAINING.
I'm fortunate to be a farmer because of all the work that needs to be done on a farm 9 months out of the year. Over the summer I didn't need any additional exercise and lost an additional 7 lbs. I had to force down some high calories so as not to go any lower. I expected to be challenged this late fall and I was. I had to get back on the old stationary bike. That worked until early Dec. the unthinkable happened, the complete breakdown of my old used stationary bike, I guess it got tired of this old fat blubber cranking away. No way to repair it, panic set in, what's the old duffer going to do, it's two weeks till Christmas? But thanks to my #2 son, who got tired of hearing me whine, gave me his 4 year old NordicTrack SL 710 exercise cycle. Is it ever slick, from here on I refer to it as my Lexus.
I gained a few lbs. over the holidays but have since got back down to my new weight, 180.
I must not close before taking inventory of just a few of good things in my life this past year. No longer take acid reflex pills, go up stairs without puffing, stoop over with EASE, bought new clothes, back, knee's, hip, legs no longer hurt, these are just a few. There are some more but don't want to embarrass anyone.
I would like to thank my family for their love and support this past year, special thanks to my sisterANNE403, who everyone thinks is younger than I but actually 7 years older, who for many years set such a good example for me and kept the pressure on.
Last but not least, the SPARK CROWD, what a great group of supporters! Most of all, thank you Chris, MR SPARK GUY.
May God be with us this coming year. JUSTLYLE Skeeter

My dear Brother, you made me cry when I read your wonderful Blog about your much success in losing 50 plus & maintaining! I know you made many attempt at losing weight! The one where you ate only two meals a day worried me, maybe it was only 1 meal a day.
Your are so correct in the Spark People & you started me & came to our home to help me get started on Spark People. I certainly thank you for puttimg up with me as it sure took me awhile to get on to the web site.
So thank you for helping me get to my goal & maintaining with Sparks.
I still have to excerse & do all the things you have to do to maintain. But at least I am maintaining and am very thankful.
Your look much younger than I & with what you have done now you are a spring chicken as our Mother would have said.
I keep telling you how proud I am of you accomplishment & commitment to this program. It is so wonderful helpful web site. I know you will keep the weight off this time & your sister is going to do the same that is a promise to each other! Anne

You're right: It's easy to get it off, harder to maintain that loss.
Keep up the good work--and the support you do.
