Thought I would let you in on the " rest of the story." We taught my future BIL a great lesson that night. He was NEVER late for a engagement again, When asked when he would be there would reply, " Sometime after?, fill in the time". He is quite a man. In his defense, he was the owner of an I-H dealership and had to serve the farmers when they needed him. That is why the business has survived since his father started it in the early 1930ths. Happy birthday to Sylvan too. Skeeter

This is such a great day, the Sun is coming up bright, the temp. in the teens, and a very special person in our life is celebrating her birthday. It doesn't seem that long ago we were dealing with her boyfriend's bad habit of always showing up late for her date. She decided , with my help, to show him a lesson. I was instructed not to go to the door when he arrived his customary one-half to 1 hour late. It was so hard not to help the poor kid out as he went to every window in the house and banged and looked in. But we had a bond, and I kept it. We still have that same feeling today, sometimes you can't explain it, It's just there. What a special sister I have, a very Happy Birthday Ann. A footnote to the story. That young wide eyed kid turned out to be one the best BIL's a person could ever ask for. He also celebrated his birthday this week. They will be celebrating over 55 years of wedded bliss this coming Nov. I think it's going to last. What a great week! Skeeter

Thought I would report on the way we celebrated our 50th. yesterday. We attended a wedding in Chicago that our DIL's only brother was married. She along with our 3+ year old curly blond haired GD was flower girl and 1+year old GS was ring bearer. The night before at rehearsal neither would walk down the aisle. We expected the worse and prayed for the best. Our prayers were answered, not only did they walk down but proceeded to turn on their best charm to the delight of everyone at the reception. All that in strange beds with very little sleep the night before. Aren't kid's the greatest?
What a difference 50 years makes. We had a 1:00 PM wedding at the church followed by cake, mints, nuts, punch, which little kids would drink too much of and get sick, and coffee in the church basement. We didn't throw the garter, I wouldn't dare touch her leg in church, that must have been started later. Pictures then followed. This all took to about 5. Back in my day, my kid's just love it when I lay this term on them, we were in a hurry to get to the Motel to sleep because we were all wore out from planning the wedding. We then proceeded to her parents home to change into the honeymoon attire. This is where it gets a little dicey. Our so called friends decided they should steel the bride. I can't imagine where they would come up with such a dirty trick. It might have something to do about revenge from their earlier weddings when the grooms car was stolen the week before the wedding and not returned until the wedding and some trashing of the new house of a bride and groom after coming home from there honeymoon, but who knows , I say get a sense of humor. Well getting back to our escape route we thought we had ditched them many times only to have them catch up with our car again. I finally found a town with many short streets and after taking a few wrong way streets we did ditch them. Oh what fun.
Back to yesterday, just beautiful the largest Church I have ever been in ,downtown Chicago, the front doors must have been 12 to 15 feet high, many stain glass windows and much much marble everyone. The reception held at another Ritzy place, valet parks your car, I knew then I wasn't at the local Red Roof Inn. Went inside to gorgeous dinning area. White covers over chairs, I told wife chairs must have been soiled, she said not with a frown, flowers everywhere, big dance floor, DJ with a large screen showing dancing and open bar. Had hors d'oeu -vres servers always come to you with trays full of goodies. Meal was fillet and shrimp. soup, breads ,twice baked potatoes, steamed broccoli and carrots, plus ice cream and an open desert bar. Two kinds of wine for the toast. Yes times are a changin.
It's always nice to see how the other half lives. It was a very nice way to celebrate our 50th. If you think I was going to weigh after that late night of parting your crazy. I weighed before I went yesterday and was down a couple of lbs. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Just a reminder to all you guys out there not to forget to treat your honey with a gift tomorrow.
I already treated mine, I gave her an EKG today. Now before all you females get your nose out of joint and send me those nasty emails let me explain. Sometimes the best gifts are free, the Insurance Company paid for it, I look at it this way, at our age it might be a gift of life, what better gift could you ask for. And another thing, she gave me the identical gift of love. I think she is a real sweetheart, I know now she's a keeper! Happy Valentines day everyone. Skeeter

Well guess what , today is a better day. I don't know what happened yesterday with the scale but today I was back down to 180. It just might have been the cold weather, don't know. The important thing is my weight is were I thought it should be and it is going to be warmer today and snow.
Isn't life great, what a difference a day makes, I ought to write a song.
