Bad week?

Sunday, March 23, 2008

Some weeks are better than others, this was not one of them, too many deaths. A former classmate of ours Mother died, my last Aunt died and Jesus died on the cross. The good news is my Aunt put her faith in Jesus and Jesus arose to save us all from our sins.
Spring has to come soon my DW saw the first robin of the year and the snow birds are planning their return trip home.
Now back to the funeral, I have instructed all who will listen NOT, I repeat, NOT to let anyone get up and say things about me at my funeral, I can just hear them say what a nasty guy I was and go on and on and say and another thing . I need to put a stop to it right now.
Now with that out of the way I almost forgot to report I gained 1 lbs. this week, not bad for feeding at the food trough of two funerals and big meal last night with family at a favorite restaurant. Next week will get better.
Have a happy Easter everyone.

Sorry for your losses. I hope this is a better week for you.
Nasty guy? Are you deceiving us all? Making us think that you're such a nice guy when in reality you're so nasty that people would say mean things at your funeral? I think you'll be fine. :)

Sorry that your week was not so go, but as you said, Christ has risen, giving us the hope of eternal life and the fact that he will forgive our sins. Possibly even to the point that when people do get up at our funeral, they won't talk negatively about us.

Thanks for the Easter Basket!

Prayers & Blessings this Easter!

Hi Skeeter, wishing you and your family a Happy Easter!
I know what you mean about some weeks being better than others, I have had my share of both.
You are doing a great job of maintaining your goal weight, I give myself a 5 pound lee-way between my goal weight and my upper limit.
I don't fret over 1 or 2 pounds but I get very anxious if I hit the 5 pound mark.
I'm eating today but tomorrow is a strict low calorie day.
God bless you and yours, Earlene

Sometimes God wakes us up in some of the strangest ways!
Sorry about all your losses. (and your gain of 1#, but like you say, that's not bad--I'm dealing with 5! and I don't have any funerals for an excuse!)

Be careful buying a women's purse!

Sunday, March 16, 2008

What a great week, sure glad I finally had that discussion with the weather goddes. Worked out in the yard cleaning up the mess of limbs the ice storm left us with. There was snow banks in them all winter. Had the 4 and 6 year old GK helping, they sure can pick up a lot of sticks and small branches.
Even had time to go shopping with the wife for a new purse for Easter. She laid the trap for me. She says so sweetly, honey which one of these do you like the best? So this one is bigger than a 3 gal. waste paper basket and the other is about 2 fists big. I thought before answering, which is unusual for me, finally I said the little one of course, it just fits your personality better. She liked it best too. Now for you young marrieds out there ,put this in your memory bank. Most women know you never buy a purse bigger than half their behind! I was being tested and I passed, wow, what a great feeling, otherwise I might not be here to celebrate number 51 years of marriage next year.
I hope everyone had a good week, God sure has blessed me.
Almost forgot the important part, I lost two lbs. this week, it looks like I'm going to make it through the worrisome winter OK.
Have a fantastic week and Happy Easter to everyone. Skeeter

51 years?!...wow!!! My husband and I are coming up on eight this July. We are watching all our friends get divorced and it is so sad. We see ourselves celebrating 51 years...as long as we get fit and healthy. Thanks for a nice blog and thoughts.
My husband is probably pretty happy because I am not a purse girl! I have one and use it until it starts to look bad and then go to target and get a new one in five minutes...lol.

Half the size of the behind, huh? After a combined total of 37 years of marriage, I don't think I've ever heard that. Thanks for the heads up.
As my wife is a very lean triathlete, I guess that means she'll be putting a couple hankies and a lipstick in her little purse and depending on my pockets for anything else. Come to think of it, she's been doing that when we dress up for years already.
I'm not sure what'll happen now that we're in Hawaii, where different dress-up standards apply. A nice aloha shirt pretty much defines the upper limits of sartorial splendor for me, though K still puts on a dress for nice occasions (like her upcoming birthday).
And congratulations on the continued weight loss. Pretty soon you'll be skinnier than a stall-fed hoe handle, as my dad used to say.

I guess my hubby's lucky! I'm not the purse type (I mean, what are pockets for?), so he's never had to make such a dangerous decision! :)

Glad you passed the "test" though! :)

Dirt Dog Honest!

Sunday, March 09, 2008

Can I get real personal with you and "dirt dog honest'? I AM SICK AND TIRED OF BEING SICK AND TIRED OF THIS WINTER WEATHER! SNOW STOP! There that's done I feel better already. Now for the good news, I woke up again this morning with my wife beside me, that's always a good sign, Did not over sleep with the time change. We made it to church and the door was open, all good signs. Am going to GS 4th. [ my bad I had the old 3], birthday party this afternoon. Sure glad the family moved here from KC. It's nice to be next to family.
More bad news, I gained 2 lbs. this week, not to bad considering 2 buffet meals on Friday and Saturday.
Don't we have a blast, wait till next week.

It was 50 here in Minnesota yesterday! Sure was a nice break from the teens and single digits we've been having. Maybe some of that will come your way and give you a break from the winter weather.

Dear Brother, I do not know where you come up with all your funny things to say!
I think it is time your complain about all the snow & WINTER weather you have had!
Enjoy your GS's 3rd birthday it is great to be able to be with them.
You enjoy all that snow before we get home! Don't want any in April although it could happen!
I get tired of changing the clocks & we change again before we get home.
Have a great week! Anne

I hear ya. I mean, this is Daylight Savings Time and it's snowing out there. And it's cloudy. So much for more sunlight today, eh? (Well, it will be lighter out anyway, sort of...)

You are right in that there are small things in life to be grateful for. We have a birthday over here this weekend too. The scale was up this morning, but I've already moved on! :-)

March 2nd. No hope of pitching in the majors now!

Sunday, March 02, 2008

This past week started off bad. On Mon. AM my BH was on her way to the Chiropractor for he 3 week appointment and slipped on our sidewalk and fell on her shoulder, nothing , thank goodness was broken, but a lot of pain, of course having trouble doing the necessary things one does with you right arm. If any luck she will make this last all summer.
I should have wrote this in the middle of the night doing what old men do at that hour when I had some real funny ideas.
Great two days and nights on a deserted island in the Cariabien, wait a minute I'm dreaming again.
This was a short week, with her suffering, can't let that get in the way of a car purchase, then we went babysitting with the cute 1+ and 3+ GK while Mom and Dad went the big race in Vegas. Now if that won't make you feel your age, with the BH bad pitching arm, nothing will.
This new Life style change is something, on weeks you think you abused your body you end up losing 3 lbs. Go figure. Isn't life the greatest.
Sold my old car to my son, sure hope the check is good.
And that's the life and times in the week of SKEETER .
Have a good week.

There's always hope for pitching. I just heard on the news this morning that Billy Crystal (age 60) is getting a one day contract with the Yankees. Keep up the good work!

Happy you got a new car will be anxious to see it.
Very proud of you maintaining your weight. You now look like my 10 yr. younger brother instead of 5 years difference!

The rest of the story!

Monday, February 25, 2008

Thought I would let you in on the " rest of the story." We taught my future BIL a great lesson that night. He was NEVER late for a engagement again, When asked when he would be there would reply, " Sometime after?, fill in the time". He is quite a man. In his defense, he was the owner of an I-H dealership and had to serve the farmers when they needed him. That is why the business has survived since his father started it in the early 1930ths. Happy birthday to Sylvan too. Skeeter
