SP 2; Day 97: Not Sure I Want to Go There...

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

I have not been tracking my food and I have been eating far too much. I have not yet reconciled to the consequences that I know are due. I am floundering in all areas of my life, exercise, work, drinking water, eating right, making good choices. Nothing is going right and, despite the power of decision, I seem powerless to change direction. It has been more than 3 weeks since I blogged. That should be illustrative of my funk.

One of my teams had a challenge to blog today and I did not want to. But I have to be honest to my Spark Family and to myself. One way to turn things around is to start doing what I know to be right.

I have started a health and wellness journal. Every day when I wake up, I write down my goals for the day. I was really starting to stress out about my long-term goals, because I don't think I'm going to reach what I wanted to reach by the time I wanted to reach it LOL. It always seems so big, so unattainable. So, if I really just focus on today, see what I can be successful at in this one day, then I know - eventually - I will reach my larger goals.
My best advice to you, my friend, is do what you can in this moment, and don't stress on what comes next.

You can start back on the trail to your journey any time that you are ready. Take time, take a step back and refocus. Maybe right now isn't the best time to try on your weight loss journey. Try getting something back on track-anything-work, water, food, exercise, meditation, just anything and maybe you will find the road back to your weight loss journey.

You need to get back into it, but slowly. One thing you can handle at a time. Like water. Keep a water bottle by you at all times and just drink. Especially when you get any cravings to go off the wagon or snack on something bad. Not so hard a thing to do. When you get one thing back it will be easier to get another. Just try it. never give up! You can do this. You have done it and know what is needed.

Don't give up. Just jump back on the wagon or treadmill or whatever makes you happy. Start with something you enjoy and build on it a little at a time. We're all behind you 100%!

I hope you find your spark, motivation, insight, whatever it is going to take for you to realize you are worth the effort to make healthy choices for yourself. Don't throw away all of the hard work you have done to this point.

SPY 2; Day 72: On Track Until Evening

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

This afternoon, I felt my energy draining, so I took a break and did something I've never done on a break - I hopped on the elliptical for a few minutes. It did give me the energy to get through the afternoon. On the downside, I was STARVING at dinner and overate big time.

Balance in all things is still a problem!

Yes the time on the elliptical has an added benefit by keeping our metabolism boosted long after we get off the machine. So even though you had an ooppss later on your body was still working out.

I'd had one of those evenings last weekend... slapped myself around verbally the next morning, then went to the gym and got right back at it...

You're doing wonderful... Keep Sparkin'On!!!

Maybe you could have some pre-measured, healthy snacks handy. I keep crackers in my car for just those occasions when I have gone to the gym and am starving. It keeps me from stopping and getting a snack.

Good for you for getting in some time on the elliptical! Focus on the positive. You can get the food back on time tomorrow.

SPY 2; Day 71: Another Personal Best!

Monday, April 11, 2011

I did not blog last night - started to and realized I had nothing to say.

I heard a great speech at the VA Toastmaster club. This was a second speech and she just bluew me away. She was talking about her job as a recreational therapist at the VA and, wow, this lady is going to be a contest speaker and winner in no time. She had passion, she had a fully developed speech, great eye contact...on and on! WOW

The officers are going to be out the rest of the week for the Board meeting. I had to call the director of legal and ask a tax question. He asked me to do some research on it and come to him on Friday. This was progress! He has not let me do statute research in at least a year. I love doing paralegal stuff!

This evening, I did 13 minutes on the elliptical! It was not the one I usually use and it was not set right. It felt really hard to do, but I exceeded my goal.

I had nearly an hour walk today and part of it was very brisk.

I was high in sodium but within range in everything else, so that is progress, too! WOOHOO!
Feeling great! I know I'll sleep well!

SPY 2: Day 69: The Ring Ceremony for World Champion San Francisco Giants

Saturday, April 09, 2011

I did a short kettlebell workout this morning. It felt wonderful! Not much exercise otherwise - a lack of energy. The evening concert fell through and I was not disappointed because it let me stay home to watch the televised ring ceremony for the World Champion San Francisco Giants!

The mlb picture of the t shirt does not do the ring justice. It is white and yellow gold. One side of the ring has the Golden Gate Bridge in yellow gold on a white gold background. The other side shows the trophy. At the base of the trophy are 5 diamonds signifying the 5 championships for the New York Giants. The center of the trophy has a mandarin orange garnet (I had never heard of one of those) and, below the trophy is the banner for the player's name. The top of the ring has the interlocking SF in white gold a-glitter with diamonds trimmed in yellow gold. Beautifully done by Tiffany. I've never wanted anything fron Tiffany, but I am coveting this! HA!

They brought back most of the Giants Hall of Famers (Gaylord Perry, Willie McCovey, someone else and, of course, Willie Mays. Two other HOF players could not make it. In the audience was my favorite player, Will Clark!

The Giants wore jerseys with gold numbers and names - I really liked the look and wish they could keep it for this year, but I think there are rules about that.

The ownership has taken great pains to include the fan base, past players, fans from previous years = this is for all of us, they say. The trophy has toured northern California, Nevada, Oregon and New York. I have not seen it.

It was very emotional.

It makes me think about the hard work the team put into the season last year. I need to strive for that same excellence in everything I do - eating right, exercising, work, life...!

a short kettlebell workout is better than a no kettlebell workout!!

the ring ceremony sounded really interesting and emotional.

and, you are right about the "need to strive for that same excellence in everything I do - eating right, exercising, work, life..." ... I think we should all strive for that kind of excellence! ;)

SPY 2; Day 68: So Glad it's Friday Evening!

Saturday, April 09, 2011

I am tired but not sleepy. This was a tough week. Nonstop busy and too much so. I did get 2 10-minute sessions on the elliptical this week. Not much else for exercise, though I had moderate step counts on my pedometer every day.

The response to the subpoena was served late today, so I'm out of the picture until something else happens. That frees me up to return to the other work that has been delayed. The officers will be out all next week, so it should be quieter, but no less busy.

Tomorrow night we are going to a concert in SF. I don't really want to go, but I'm going and BF will go with Yvonne and me in a couple of weeks on a hike as a trade.

I'm planning on a long walk tomorrow. I also hope to do some kettlebell work!

Quieter would be an improvement and will allow you to focus on the work delayed.
Getting in any exercise is great! Good trade off concert for a hike! Maybe you will Spark bf into getting more active with you.
Enjoy your weekend!

I hope you find a balance at work. It sounds like you're really loaded down. Be glad that you got in 20 mins on the elliptical. That's better than nothing, right? Keep positive. I hope you get your walk in today. It's hard to try to do so much through the week and not just want to sit and relax on the weekends.
