Day 10...P90X

Wednesday, October 07, 2009

I did day 10 of P90X this afternoon. It is Arms & shoulders. I love it. Since my arms and shoulders are one of the main reasons I wanted to do the X, I am extra motivated to do them. And I just really enjoy that routine.
I also did measurements (for BLC) and in the last 7 days I have lost a total of 2.5 inches. That is some great motivation for me!

Half Report

Monday, March 23, 2009

Well, my half was not what I wanted it to be. It started fine...I was running with my BIL and SIL. I knew it would be slow and I was ok with that. My goal time was a VERY modest 3 hours hoping for around 2:45. I knew since I was running with others it wasnt all up to me. Around mile 8 my SIL lost umph and we walked the majority of the last 5 miles. We really walked the majority of the whole thing.
Around mile 10 my knee started hurting, by the end I was in tears and could barely walk. Hence, the last mile sprint did not happen. I did not get the crossing the finish line euphoria I wanted. I really only feel like I went for a nice "outing". My knee has me the most bugged. I couldnt have finished strong even if I was on my own and that is the worst. Our chip time was 3:08!
The great news is that I still did it. I WILL improve my time next go around. And my knee was feeling better a couple hours later. My body only has the aches and pains from a normal go out and have fun outing.
I did go to the doctor today just to be on the safe side. No problems, just overtraining.
My Husband is going to start running with me this week. Short miles. next step for me is to try to get those blasted 14 min/miles to a 10 min/mile. And with my DH by my side! That will be one AWESOME additive!

And YES there will be another Half in my future. I just want to train a little longer this time and have an actual goal in mind to achieve.

How long have you been running and training for that? Do you still get out of breath when you run? I am getting ready for my first 5K and if I do a run around town type of 5K, it takes me about 48 - 50 minutes to do it. If I just do a straight around the block, no hills, 5K I can do it in about 38 - 40 minutes. I usually run 3 days a week. Do you do more than that? I want to hear all about it.

Congrats on finishing! I think that's AWESOME! emoticon emoticon

Julie - Like I said in the Runner Room, you should be proud! 13.1 miles even for what you call an "outing" is great!!!

You finished your 1/2 and that is AWESOME!!!! Whenever I talk to my dad about something that's difficult for me he always says, "Well, if it was easy, anybody could do it!" And I think that's true in this case. YOU DID IT!!!!!
