My BLC-20 Goals

Sunday, September 16, 2012

The beginning of a BLC round is an excellent time to think about how we can meet our goals. My goal for this round is to lose one pound a week and get under 180 pounds. That is completely possible and do-able.

Here is how I will do it:

Food: During the week, I will eat my standard breakfast. It is easy to make, fills me up, and satisfies me. I will bring my lunch to work and include plenty of veggies. For dinner, if I eat out, I will eat at Togo's (local sandwich shop) and choose a healthy item. Because I'm at my DD's dance studio four nights a week, it's not always possible to eat at home during the week.

On the weekends, I will really try to not overdo it. One thing I can do is Google the calories before I eat (if I go to a restaurant).

Exercise: I think my exercise plan is pretty good. I do great when I'm at my DD's dance studio, doing 1-2 hours per night, with both cardio and ST.

On the weekends, we are sometimes really super busy and exercise is not always possible. I will not stress out if I miss a day or two. But if possible, I will try to work out on the weekends.

Other: I have no problem getting enough sleep. I'm not usually stressed too much. I'm pretty organized and efficient. I don't feel like I need to do too much in that area.

Summary: Sounds like my problem areas are eating in the evenings and on the weekend, and exercise on the weekends.

Monday: Exercise at least 60 mins of cardio and 15 mins of ST.
Tuesday: Exercise at least 60 mins of cardio. No ST.
Wednesday: Exercise at least 60 mins of cardio and 15 mins of ST.
Thursday: Exercise at least 60 mins of cardio and 15 mins of ST if not done on Wed.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday: Exercise when there's time, otherwise, rest days

I would like to eat between 1200-1500 calories per day, but I just can't seem to do that. I'm ecstatic if I am under 1500 but that only happens once or twice a week. Usually I am at 2000 calories the other 5 days. I need to try to decrease the calories somehow, but I just get so hungry.

So not totally SMART goals, but this is the best I can do.

If I get into a "start over" mode, I'm always hungry for the first week or so, but if I push past that and stay firm about what I'm going to eat, my body seems to adapt pretty quickly. I try to average about 1350/day and can do that without hunger if I'm consistent about it.

Good luck achieveing your goals!

I've personally found that not all goals have to be SMART as long as they are something we can work toward and see our progress along the way.

I'm proud of you. You are setting realistic goals. You recognize your schedule, and know what works & what doesn't. You make wise use of your time. You are cutting out little sections of time for you while being there for your DD. Her times are fleeting; try to enjoy them.

I understand. Just remember - you will wish for these times when your children are grown. You are needed. That is a wonderful feeling.

Julie's BLC-20 Starting Pictures

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Hi everyone,

This morning, on the first day of BLC-20, I took some "before" pictures. At the end of BLC-20, I will take some "after" pictures and hopefully I will look waaaaaay thinner!

I actually don't think I look too bad in these pictures, which is very odd... The thing I'm most embarrassed about is the ouchy on my belly. I've had it for 12 years and it won't go away. (And yes, the dr has looked at it and it's fine.) So just ignore that. LOL

Letter to Myself

Monday, September 10, 2012

Hi, Julie. This is yourself speaking. Just here to give you a little encouragement!

Remember how good it felt when you weighed 180.6 pounds at the end of BLC-18? Well, I'd like to see you get there again. That's really not asking too much, is it? You already do great with exercise, doing 10 or so hours per week. You've got a breakfast routine down and usually have a pretty good lunch. So you just need to work on the after 4pm eating and you'll do great!

I know you like to "cheat" sometimes, and that should be OK if it's only done rarely and not near weigh-in day! But just remember how that negates a lot of the hard work you've done for the rest of the week....

You just need to stop yourself from getting overly hungry, because that is when you tend to eat the wrong stuff. So keep sensible snacks around to help with the overeating. It's better to go over your calorie budget by 300 calores of Wheat Thins than to go over it by 1000 calories of Burger King! So if you're starving and need to eat, do it.

You can do it, Julie!!
Love,
JULIE

I love the way you reason with yourself. If you did it before, you can do it again. And it is so true that 300 over on Wheat Thins is much better than 1000 at Burger King.

I am out of my dark chocolate almonds right now. They were 17 calories a piece and I would usually grab three. That was just enough for a craving, to satisfy my hunger, my need to crunch, and the both the chocolate and the almonds were good for me. Now I am grabbing for Cheetos and other junk. Need to steer myself to carrots or chew gum.

It will be an exciting 12 weeks!

Pictues of my daughter dancing

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

My 10 year old daughter Jenny had a dance recital a few weeks ago and a few people asked for pictures.

This first picture is her tap routine. She is the third from the right.

The second picture is her jazz routine. She is 5th from the right, looking left. You can barely see her.

This is a big group that she is a part of. She's in the back on the left. Only a mother would be able to pick out her kid in that group! LOL

She's been dancing for 8 years and just loves it. She wants to own her own dance studio when she grows up and is already asking me to help her find a college with a good dance program! I'm very proud of her!

Edited to add: These pictures are pretty small. Sorry. They are bigger on my Facebook page.

Pix from my weekend

Monday, May 14, 2012

I spent the weekend at my step-daughter's college graduation from Humboldt State Univ in Northern California. Thought I'd share some pix.

This is Jenny (10yo DD), Debbie (15yo step-DD), and Jeremy (12yo DS) in front of one of the largest trees IN THE WORLD!

This is me in front of a large fallen over tree.

This is DH and DD in front of a fallen over tree. That trunk is HUGE!

This is Ally, the step-daughter who graduated and her mom.

All 4 kids before graduation.

Me and DH with the graduate

With diploma

Jenny with Bigfoot!

Hope you enjoyed the pix.
