No more exercise minutes for a while

Tuesday, February 11, 2014

Tomorrow I am going for my second knee replacement. I had my right one done in 2009 with great success and now I am doing the left one. I plan to work very hard at my recovery because that is the secret to success.I love Spark People and the friends I have made. While, I never quite made it to my goal yet, it is the best I have ever done to lose weight and keep it off. For that I am very happy! For all my dachshund friends, here is a photo of our first doggies many years ago. JudyK

    Dear Judy.
Didn't know (or remember??) that you were having knee replacement. I'm so glad you had a prior success -- this one will be successful too....especially with your very positive attitude.

I've been on and off the Boards recently.....,. right now I'm fighting a bad case of flu - and I'm soooo tired. But I wanted to add my good wishes to all the others ..... for a successful procedure and a speedy recovery. I know how bad knee pain can be!
And I want to thank you for being a 'rock' for me --- you've always 'been there'......

Stay in touch - I'll be sending hugs and good vibes your way. Lucy says 'woof'!!

Much love, Libby emoticon

Take the time to let yourself heal. I'm having to remind myself of that. I signed up for Bloomsday, a 12K. Most I've run up to this point is about 4K. So I should be training, but I have a nagging ankle pain. I'm having a very hard time not "running through the pain," but I know that a short lay off will make me healthier in the long run.

Holiday Wish

Sunday, December 23, 2012

Spark Fiends,
I want to wish everyone a Happy Holiday no matter how you celebrate. I am not an active blogger and there are times I am not able to share my thoughts on the various groups I am involved in. I am thankful for many things in life. I have a great love for the elderly and continue to care for these beautiful people. My dear husband of 45 years is a 12 year survivor of Multiple Myeloma and I try to be active in supporting others. My dear friend is going for bilateral Mastectomy the day after Christmas. An autoimmune disease limits some of the exercises that I am able to do but Spark People has helped me so much. I have lost 35#, kept it off, and managed to exercise doing something daily. I could not have been successful without you. and I cannot thank you enough. I am not at my goal but I am closer than I have been in years. My other love is dachshunds as you can see by the picture, a little one visiting work! Take care. Your Spark Friend JudyK emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Dear Judy ===
What a cutie!! Since I adopted Lucy as an adult - I missed doxie puppyhood! They are the most adorable creatures in the world.....but I'm biased of course. I looked again at your baby in your gallery.....a beauty.
Lucy is getting a little grey in the muzzle.....but she's still ol' Lucy. And I love her.

Read my blog today for my New Year's wishes for you and all my SparkFriends. You've been a rock to me.......

Big hugs.
Libby emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

PS.....I wish your hubby much continued good health!!! (and to you too...)

Heidi has come a long way

Friday, February 10, 2012

Just a little over a year ago, my daughter, Heidi had to make a tough decision for a young woman. After spending a month in the hospital with IBS and the medication no longer working, she made the decision to have her colon removed. I took off from work and went to Colorado to stay with her. After four surgeries, everything healed and she went back to work. She teaches environmental education and works for the county outside Denver. She had a long way to get her strength back as a hiker, backpacker, and rock climber. While working on her health and new lifestyle of having an ostomy, she created a web site OstomyOutdoors.com. With the help of her husband, she included tips and videos. She just won a national award for her work. As a mom, I am so very proud of her. She has made friends all over the world. She inspires me! When I look at our pictures, we both look a lot healthier a year later. Spark People has really helped me with that.

One year anniversary

Friday, January 27, 2012

I joined Spark People in 2007. I did not become active until a year ago. I remember going to the doctor and the scale read 191#. Of course in my mind I only weighed 186#, which is was bad enough. I decided to join a few different groups with the plan to lose 30#. Well, I am just shy of 30#. I made and I could not have done it alone. It came off slow and somehow because of all my Spark People support over the year, I never lost focus or became impatient. I plan to continue to work on 15# to 20# at 66. I am excited to continue. I have met so many wonderful people. I love the support. I am having fun wearing smaller sizes. Yes, size 12 jeans. They were tight. I will get there. I am not a frequent blogger, but I do love the chit chat and reading everyone's notes. I just wanted to say thank you for being my friend and I hope to make many new friends in the coming year. emoticon emoticon

Off spark people landed in hospital

Thursday, November 03, 2011

Well her I am, I always want to blog an entry arout such wonderful people I have met over the year and how much you have helped me lose 20# so far. Well Saturday I had terrible abdominal pain and went to the ER. Pencil size hole in stomach led me to surgery and all was fine with that but due to fluid overload and on oxygen. So keep me in your thoughts and prayers and I will be back soon! Judyk emoticon emoticon
