Why I Am In Mexico

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

I have been asked why I am in Mexico so thought I would share it with everyone. I am working with Hispanic Ministries in my Church. The main program is Justice For Our Neighbors. This is a project of the United Methodist Church that provides free legal immigration services. Since the majority of clients are Latino and speak Spanish, I want to learn the language so I can converse a bit with them. Each clinic site has a lawyer so we can only do what is possible to do through the US court system. If you want more info on the program, you can google it.

Hola (Hi) From Cuernavaca Mexico

Monday, February 21, 2011

Aren't computers amazing! No matter where we are, we can keep in contact with friends all over the world!
Thought I'd share a bit about a typical day here. Since I get a private class, I go to school at 10 and have 2 hours of Spanish grammar, followed by an hour of pronunciation and then an hour of conversation! Leave school at 2:30 and go to my "home!" for lunch. Here, the main meal of the the day is around 3 in the afternoon, followed by a seista! I'm liking that!
I usually do part of my homework and then go to the park for a good walk and come back to finish my homework.
This is cutting down my "sparkin" time!
Have more homework to do so talk to ya later!
Adios!

Yes, computers are a wonderful thing, yet they do seem to be a time sucker as well.

I am so happy for you to be able to enjoy the sunshine while learning another language. It sure beats just a classroom for 6.5 hours.

Have fun and learn lots!

    Que bueno!

I don't know yet how to put the upside-down ! in front and the accents over letters. Growing up around Cubans, I learned the accent, but have not studied enough to get a great vocabulary.

2/18 Doing Homework???

Friday, February 18, 2011

I am in Cuernavaca, Mexico and am going to school--to learn Spanish! I'[m the only one at my level so I am getting private lessons. The good news is my class starts at 10! The downer is having to do homework! It takes me forever because I'm always afraid I'll spell the word wrong --or I have to look up words to find out the meaning! I've made it through the first week, with 2 more to go.
Tomorrow, I'm going to Mexico City for a trip to see many things there and am looking forward to that!
The weather here is wonderful!
The good news is~~I'm getting lots of exercise in!! Lots of emoticon and climbing lots of stairs!

Ooo! Homework! Who would have thought that would be happening? I don't think that I could handle that, it's been long...

So glad to hear that you are having a good time! Lots of walking and climbing stairs? You won't recognize yourself later!!!! Love it!

Have a really good time and enjoy your activities.
