My Birthday

Yesterday was my 67th birthday. Still having my headaches (4-1/2 weeks so far) and had been down and getting depressed because I was having trouble getting my exercises in like I should have been doing - my weight going up and down for a while now.

Well, to make a long story short, my husband and I went out for my free birthday breakfast at Denny's and yes, I did, I had the build-your-own grand slam (healthy wheat pancakes, eggs, turkey bacon, sugar free/low sugar pancake syrup and oatmeal) and, as if that wasn't enough we went to Tony Roma's for my free dinner there - - yes, again I blew it and had the Roma original ribs, baked potato, broccoli, unsweetened ice tea and bread. It was extremely good and I enjoyed every bite. I started feeling a little guilty but I was able to talk myself out of beating myself up over it. It was my day and not something I've really done in probably a year.

Continued from 10/21/13: BUT, today is another day and another fresh start on my weight loss goals. I still have the terrible pressure as if my head was in a vise and someone was still cracking the handle on it but I had made up my mind that I was going to get some exercise in other than just walking twice a day. So, my eating is back to normal, So far I have walked 1 mile, done 2 sets of 15 of wall pushups, 1 set of 15 arm curls with band, and 1 set of 50 hip flexions and yes, I still have the pressure in my head. I will be glad when I can get in to see the neurologist (the day before Thanksgiving) and until then, I will be working on my eating habits and exercising again as much as I can throughout each day.

I'm ok. I refuse to get down on myself because of yesterday. I can and will do this with God's help.

    It sounds like u had a great birthday. Don't feel guilty for it. It was ur day to do what u wanted. Sorry to hear bout ur headaches. Is the day before Thanksgiving the soonest that they can get u in? Thats not right. Did u ask them to put u on the cancellation list so if someone cancels they'll call u in sooner? If u haven't I would if I were u.
Great job doing the exercise despite the headache. I hope it gets better for u.

    That is one big birthday celebration. Good thing it only comes once a year. I never miss my BD breakfast at Denny's myself!!

    Glad you had a great birthday! I turned 67 this past June but did not make it out for any meals. My DH hates to eat out so we do it very infrequently. Hope you can find out what is causing your headaches!

    You're only 67 once!! Glad you enjoyed it and didn't feel too guilty!

I had a headache for three months once and after multiple MD visits and tests, ended up with a chiropractor who "cured" the headache after two weeks of sessions. Don't know whether that's something you'd consider. Hope it clears up soon!

Well, I got on the scale today from our 2-week vacation - - - - gained 7# - - OUCH!!!!!!! Energy is low, self-esteem is low etc. BUT, today is another day and am on track so far today. Been busy unpacking, laundry, laundry, and more laundry as well as sorting through mail and making out bills!!! Hate that job!! I hate it worse when it's combined with so many other things that had to get done as well!!! Did walk the first mile today with the dogs - 1 more mile to go yet this evening AFTER it cools off and the humidity is down I hope - - right now it says it's 100 outside with 47% humidity.

Now it's time to get to the post office to pay those bills we just made out and maybe get a few groceries as well, enough to hold us over until tomorrow anyway so I can stay on track better.

Sure am glad this trip is over!! It was a mandatory dr's visit for my hubby and then visit with family and friends!! We are definitely getting to old to do all this running/driving!!!

    Hi Judy,
I hope there was something fun or interesting or restful in the vacation to even things out from all the before and after chores that come with a vacation, even a business vacation like you took.

That weight increase is made of a lot of stuff--mostly water retention from the change in your normal life style. Even with some over eating, it would take a tremendous lot of food going in to cause a gain like that. By now--a month later, I hope your body is back to normal.

    Wondered where you have been. Yeah, getting older has its own challenges. Fully realized this weekend that I cannot keep up with our 2 year old grandson. He's already half my height and weighs nearly 40 pounds. Yikes!

Been gone since the 7th. Put on 4,500 - 5,000 miles by the time we return home!! Can't wait!! I'm tired of motel living, restaurant food etc etc etc. I'm missing not being on SP much since we've been gone. Almost afraid to get on the scale - - no, I AM afraid to get on the scale!! Should be back on board the beginning of the week!!

Dealing with injured ribs this week so tonight for supper we're having a portion controlled chicken patty on a whole wheat bun with a slice of FF cheese and DeJon creamy mustard (zero calories) and a side salad with added raisins and a glass of milk. Been feeling tired for the last 3-4 days since injuring my ribs so I'm making this a simple supper. Sounds like a winner to me!!

Joined the Spark Solution!!

I decided to start The Spark Solution because I was at such a stand still with my weight. It had seemed like no matter what or how I ate, the weight was going no where. Since starting The Spark Solution, I have been more active (not so much sitting on my rump), lost 1.6#, feel slimmer etc. I have been making healthy breakfasts and loving them. I'm not eating raw spinach which I wouldn't normally do, ok - rarely did , ok - - did only once before!!! I eat it almost everyday now with my egg beater breakfast and my beautiful/wonderful salad at noon. I really like the idea of being allowed more protein and learning different ways of making a gorgeous/scrumptious breakfast and salad. My supper meals I try to stay within the ranges set for in the book but my husband won't eat that way so I try to keep him happy also but watch my portions closer.
