Celebrating 9 Months...

I am getting excited as in about 2 weeks time on the 9th of April I will be celebrating my 9th month of being a spark member. PTL...

I joined almost 9 months ago at the invite of my good friend, Jean, I joined, not for weight loss but for getting stronger and fitter with making use of the great exercise & nutritional networks offered here. Not only that, I have found the network to be one of the friendliest and supportive groups I've ever come across. All my spark buddies have been so supportive and always have a kind word for me.

The message boards, articles, nutritional pages, recipes, health articles are all great tools which have helped me to gain a stronger fitter and healthier me.

I've always ate healthy but since coming to SP I found out I wasn't eating enough calories to keep my metabolism running properly. Since finding out what foods help promote the diet my doctor wanted me to eat, I now eat a properly balanced diet filled with the right amounts of protein, carbs and fat on a regular basis. My daily intake of good nutritious foods keeps me balanced for the day.

The fluid balance is much better with the edema noticeably being reduced throughout my body. What key source I found was that a body needs the right amount of nutrients for optimal health.

Yes, I have gained a wealth of good helpful knowledge for maintaining a healthier body.

Last but not least, I always exercised but since coming to SP I've been introduced to a better plan, I have picked up new exercises, learned that not only having a good cardio workout is important but equally incorporating strength and stretching is just as important.

So all around I am a better balanced fitter, toned, stronger and healthier gal today than I was before coming to SP. So from the bottom of my heart I salute and take my hat off to Spark People. Thank you for your help and for standing with me these 9 months I've been a member!

I'm leaving a acrostic with you, one I created after only being a member for 1 week. I can honestly say after 9 months as a member I've found SP to be the same supportive group it was after 1 week which has provided me with the tools needed to maintain a healthier, fitter more toned me. Hope you enjoy!

I'm thankful for SparkPeople and for all my SparkBuddies I've met. I have learned a lot about this special group of people. This is what has brought me to sharing an acrostic about my Spark Buddies...

S-special
P-persistent
A-accepting
R-ready
K-kind

Special: I have discovered that my Spark Buddies are a special people who are there for you. They care and are always ready to support.

Persistent: The SparkPeople here are a resilient people who are persistent, they keep on keeping on, and they are persistent and work at reaching their goals. SparkPeople share some Spark around to the places they go.

Accepting: My SparkBuddies are so accepting, they accept me and others for who they are and not for whom they would like the person to become.

Ready: SparkBuddies are always ready with an encouraging word & always ready to share a smile, to share some Spark around...

Kind: In one week I've been a member I have experienced the kindness of my SparkBuddies; they always have a kind word, a word that will build up rather than tear down.

Yes this past week I've discovered my SparkBuddies to be "Special, Persistent, Accepting, Ready and Kind".

In closing I hope this simple acrostic on what a Spark Friend means to me has encouraged and blessed you. Have a great week. Keep on Keeping On. Share some Spark around, be a blessing to someone this week...

Thanks for your comments and your many notes of encouragement, your prayers surely made a difference. Today, less pain, no nausea or fever...All good, I didn't do a lot today but what I did I was feeling pretty good.

Tomorrow I'll finish up my laundry and my grocery shopping I didn't get done on Wednesday when I took sick...

This is an added note from my exercise journal notes, had to share with you all...

I am thrilled, I was able to get 20 minutes of my usual 30 to 35 minutes a day of my routine in. I was so filled with mega pain that yesterday was a right off, today the pain and spasm has improved that I was able to do a "little" exercise...Yay me...You Can Do It!

Need Prayer...

Hi Everyone,

Would appreciate your prayers this evening, early this afternoon I was attacked with excruciating pain in my lower spine, I spiked a fever, had chills and was quite nauseous...

This morning when I woke I had a very sore tender lower spine, I thought it would settle as the day progressed, unfortunately it didn't, I had planned shopping and laundry which didn't get done.

I went to the bank and went shopping but took sick there, to the point of someone asking if I was alright, when I came home I headed to the bathroom almost immediately, thought I was going to throw up, I didn't but when I glanced at myself in the mirror I understood why the looks and queries at the store as I was totally void of any color... My face was a pasty white-gray color :(

Anyway, by early evening my spine began to feel better, less pain, my fever and nausea has subsided, most likely the pain made me nauseous and pale. I am going to bed soon...As a consequence this gal has had no exercise today, which is most unusual not to do anything...

However the most important thing I need now is some sleep and your prayer support... Thanks so much for your valued friendship...

    I HAVE "SO" BEEN THERE WITH THE LOWER BACK PAIN BEFORE AND I KNOW WHAT IT IS TO BARELY BE ABLE TO MOVE. PRAYERS GOING UP FOR YOU GIRL. YOU GET GOOD REST AND PROP YOUR LEGS UP TOO...IT TAKES THE PRESSURE OFF OF YOUR LOWER BACK.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe....

Hi There,

It's that time of the year again when we start thinking of healthy refreshing smoothie drinks for any time of the day. I found a great one and have included the link to the recipe so you can get the nutritional breakdown...

Hope you enjoy this smoothie I found from spark people recipes...

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

3 fresh strawberries, large
1 banana, medium
1.5 Tbsp orange juice concentrate
1 cup milk, 2%
1 cup ice

Directions
Combine all ingredients in blender and annihilate until smooth. Enjoy in a tall glass, or do as I did, and share the extra half-serving with your child!!

Number of Servings: 1.5

Most of us have heard the saying “learn by your mistakes,” but how many of us actually do. Making a mistake is one of the best opportunities you have to learn about yourself. Another reason to try to learn from your mistakes is because they are less likely to occur again if you learn a lesson from each one. The next time you make a mistake take a minute to think about it. Why did this happen? What can I do to make sure this doesn’t happen again? What did I learn from this mistake? The SparkPeople System tells us that it is okay and most importantly normal to make mistakes. The concept of taking 2 steps forward and 1 step back is very important to learn. There are not many examples of perfection and the SparkPeople System doesn’t demand it. The SparkPeople System encourages consistency and continuous learning and growing as an individual.
