Making Choices

Thursday, March 17, 2011

Today on the message boards a question was asked: When did you learn how to eat healthy? This is the following answer I felt led to share. It is basically a word of testimony I pray encourages you and motivates you to eat healthy no matter what income you have.

I've always ate healthy, I grew up in a household where fresh fruits and veggies were always available, my dear Mom was left on her own way back in the 50's which was not a common thing in those days, she was determined to raise her only child, meaning me in a healthy way, she made sacrifices and she fed me well, so I've never known anything different...I raised my kids to eat healthy also, doesn't mean we didn't have treats or sweets but we ate them in moderation....so you see it can be done, it is a choice one has to make, and I'm speaking from a single Mom's heart where there wasn't a lot of extra money but I made a choice, rent and bills were paid and groceries were always bought, there was always healthy food in the fridge...my Lord and my kids always came 1st, that was important to me. emoticon

One last thought I will add here, I can honestly say that the Lord has supplied my every need and has blessed me beyond measure all these years. PTL!

Setting the Tone for your Day

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

Believe it or not, we have the power to set the tone of our day:

If you want your day to be filled with positive thoughts you need to focus on the good and wholesome things that uplift your emotions, when you chose to fill yourself with things that edify & build up you set the tone for a day of blessing and not defeat!

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

ABC'S OF CHRISTIAN ALPHABET

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Although things are not perfect
Because of trial or pain
Continue in thanksgiving
Do not begin to blame
Even when the times are hard
Fierce winds are bound to blow
God is forever able
Hold on to what you know
Imagine life without His love
Joy would cease to be
Keep thanking Him for all the things
Love imparts to thee
Move out of "Camp Complaining"
No weapon that is known
On earth can yield the power
Praise can do alone
Quit looking at the future
Redeem the time at hand
Start every day with worship
To "thank" is a command
Until we see Him coming
Victorious in the sky
We'll run the race with gratitude
Xalting God most high
Yes, there'll be good times and yes some will be bad, but...
Zion waits in glory...where none are ever sad!

That takes me back a long, long time! I used to compile a newsletter for a church and I remember sharing that in 2003 or so.

Glad to see it's still making the rounds!

Youth Group Fundraiser...Bake Sale

Monday, March 14, 2011

Today was Youth Sunday where our youth group was featured in our Sunday morning service, worship was led by the youth group and our Youth Pastor brought the message. After the group did a bake sale fund raiser to raise funds for the Missions outreach trip they take every summer, they also do a number of other ministry related events that require extra funds the church can't help with.

Wow, you should of seen all the baked goods these young people made, scrumptious for sure. The sale was a complete success, they raised $1,273.00. We all had to bid on the item and the highest bidder got the sweet goodies. I ended up by getting two items out of 4 I bid on, I also bought 1 piece of raspberry chocolate cheesecake for $5 and the 2 items I bid on were the dark chocolate almond bark with pecans and marshmallow cornflake delights... boy am I going to have a feast, no worries, all in moderation...of course.. LOL

Here is a sample of the photo's below these young people baked...makes your mouth water...

I'm heading off to bed now after a full day, it was daylight savings time and I didn't get as much sleep as would normally. Not to worry, tonight I plan to sleep well and there is no losing the hour sleep like I did last night. See you all tomorrow..God's Blessings..

I like the idea of bidding on the items. Funner than the traditional bake sale!

It is wonderful to have a church that supports its youth. Bake sales and even car washes are excellent fund raisers. The goodies looked wonderful!

Fearfully & Wonderfully Made....

Friday, March 11, 2011

I took a couple of quizzes tonight on healthy eating and the person I see in the mirror. I found out by my answers that I'm comfortable in my skin and like who Judith is, I don't compare myself with others and wish I was something that I'm not.

As far as my healthy choices, I found out I have a good outlook on food, eat healthy and allow myself treats and not feel guilty when I indulge in junk foods once in a while.

By the answers I chose I found that I have a healthy outlook in general and feel good about me. I'm "comfortable in the person" God has made me to be, from the inside out.

Reminds me of the Scripture that tells me that I'm fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God. See Psalm 139:13-15 (New King James Version)

13 For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skilfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

The fearfully and wonderfully made verses are some of my favorite. . . God has to remind me often that He has made me special -- to do His purposes.

What a wonderful place to be. Thanking God for allowing us to BE..just BE. Be in His world..Be aware of who He is...Belong to Him...He loves us and that is Amazing! He wants us, He wants to spend time with us, He likes us. So..who else do we need to impress? Being right where He has planned for us to be is the greatest place in life. emoticon
