Boxes Unpacked/Birthday Party Tonight...

Saturday, July 14, 2012

Good Morning All,

Thanks for all your support and prayers yesterday. All the boxes are unpacked and I have almost everything put away, still some last minute sorting but it's almost there. Thank you Jesus...

I am leaving the last tin of my Mom's that has all the receipts and papers that Mom kept for mega years, papers from as far back as 50's, I know...Anyway I'm almost there and my place will be back in order, yay...

Darren is coming on Sunday and will install the router for my computer and connect the wireless unit, then I'm free of all those cords and cables, yay...

Today I have a Birthday party to attend, I'm hosting it for a friend at a Chinese restaurant, one of our favorites...All I have to do is bake the cake and pick up the balloon bouquet on the way to the restaurant...Should be a great evening of fellowship with the Birthday girl and all our friend's...

Have a great week, enjoy the sunshine and hopefully you are able to get out and enjoy the great outdoors...

Blessings, let's keep pushing and sparking on together! emoticon emoticon

Good and Angry

Verse: Ephesians 4:25–27

Additional Scripture Readings:

Psalm 37:8

Mark 3:5

Is it possible to be good, and angry? As far as we can tell, the answer is no. The “good” moms we watch either don’t get angry or they don’t let us know they’re angry. Watching such folks can leave us frustrated and guilt-ridden regarding our own tempers.

Paul writes to those of us who struggle with anger in Ephesians 4:26. He says, “In your anger ... ” This little phrase packs a powerful punch because it acknowledges that it’s impossible to completely avoid anger. God’s unmistakably clear, inspired Word recognizes that anger is an inevitable human emotion.

But then Paul ties this little phrase to a command: “Do not sin.” When we acknowledge our anger, we can face it without fear. We can separate ourselves with a “time-out” until we gain control. We can express our feelings in careful words that take personal ownership of the emotion.

What should you do with anger? First, accept its inevitability. Then, don’t deny it. Use your anger constructively to change situations without destroying people. Be angry, but don’t sin. Then you’ll be good, and angry.

Words spoken can never be retracted and I think the age old advice of counting to 10 when we are so angry we could spit nails is probably a good rule to follow. Just that much time will probably make us remember to control the anger. emoticon

Physically & Emotionally Drained...

Friday, July 13, 2012

Hi All,

I have had quite an emotional couple of days. What I thought was going to be a non eventful 2 days turned out to be much more. Wednesday my daughter came to my place to help with unpacking boxes and sorting through part my and part my late Mom's belongings.

My kids also changed my bedroom around which has really opened up the room and provided me mega space, all good :)

Darren my son-in-law pulled my computer out of my room and put it in my library/hallway, I t is a room in itself which has room for a chair computer desk and telephone table & chair set. It looks really good :)

He has installed the wireless unit and is bringing the router to connect on Sunday, for now he has run a cable around the borders of my ceiling, not glamorous but doable for now...I like my computer out here and out of my bedroom, that's for sure..

What has been emotionally draining for me is I had boxes stored from my late Mom's condo that never got unpacked or sorted, so my daughter pulled all that out last evening, we have put a lot of things for donation and I re-stored things I was keeping, my double semi walk-in closet has plenty of room for clothing and some storage.

I have the last of the things to do today with sorting through more photo's and papers which is draining, a lot of good and precious memories but it only brings back how much I miss my beloved Mom... I picked up the death certificate and also found the certificate for cremation for my Mom's Missy, her beloved dog who died a few months before my Mom passed...Dear me, I was somewhat spent after reading both death certificate documents...

I never knew how much stuff Mom has held on through the years, there is a tin filled with every receipt my Mom ever had, even one from my birth and vaccinations etc, every card I wrote her and letter, it touched my heart knowing she loved me that much but going through all this is draining even though my Mom and I had a special and precious relationship..

I would appreciate your prayers that I will be strengthened both physically and emotionally. Thanks fellow friend's...You are all special... emoticon

My goodness, of course you would be emotionally exhausted! When my mum passed away my brother and sisters were going through her stuff each of us trying to hold onto as much as we could. Then all at once we realized that she wasn't in her stuff, she is in each of us. We had to let go. Of course we kept a few things each, but the biggest gift I ever got was seeing her coming to know Jesus as her Saviour after being a Hindu for 70 years plus. I know I will see her in heaven. I pray that my dad and brother and sisters will come to know Jesus too.

Love to you my friend!

Thanks all for your prayers and kind comments, I had boxes stored in my cupboard because there was so much going on with my family since Mom passed away so the boxes never came out of the cupboard until now, but it will be good when I get the remainder of my place in order over the weekend, I have a birthday I'm hosting tomorrow evening so won't be getting too much done tomorrow but hope by Monday it will all be done...Blessings my friend and thanks for your support & prayers... emoticon emoticon

Praying for you my friend. I know how you are feeling. I feel the same way when I look at the things I brought home when my dear mom passed away. I have been willing to give away some things, and packed away some of the things I want to keep. I have given a few of her things to my daughter, and my brothers. I just do a little at a time. It is emotionally draining. You will be in my thoughts and prayers Judith.

Developing Faith through Adversity

2 Corinthians 11:23-30

It doesn't seem fair, does it? Paul spent his life serving Christ, and yet he experienced continual suffering. Why would God let one of His most faithful servants go through so much pain? This isn't just a question about Paul; it's an issue we face today. In our minds, the Lord should protect His loyal followers from hardships, but He doesn't necessarily do so.

Maybe our reasoning is backwards. We think faithful Christians don't deserve to suffer, but from God's perspective, suffering is what produces faithful Christians. If we all had lives of ease without opposition, trials, or pain, we'd never really know God, because we'd never need Him. Like it or not, adversity teaches us more about the Lord than simply reading the Bible ever will.

I'm not saying we don't need to know Scripture; that's our foundation for faith. But if what we believe is never tested by adversity, it remains head knowledge. How will we ever know the Lord can be trusted in the midst of trouble if we've never been challenged by hardship? God gives us opportunities to apply scriptural truths to the difficulties facing us, and in the process, we find Him faithful. For example, how would Paul ever have known the strength of Christ if he had never been weakened by pain, persecution, and adversity?

Depending on your response, trials can be God's greatest means of building faith or an avenue to discouragement and self-pity. If you'll believe what Scripture says and apply its principles to your situation, your trust in God will grow, and your faith will be strengthened through adversity.

Psalm 24

Psalm 24 The Message Bible

A David Psalm

1-2 God claims Earth and everything in it, God claims World and all who live on it.
He built it on Ocean foundations,
laid it out on River girders.

3-4 Who can climb Mount God?
Who can scale the holy north-face?
Only the clean-handed,
only the pure-hearted;
Men who won't cheat,
women who won't seduce.

5-6 God is at their side;
with God's help they make it.
This, Jacob, is what happens
to God-seekers, God-questers.

7 Wake up, you sleepyhead city!
Wake up, you sleepyhead people!
King-Glory is ready to enter.

8 Who is this King-Glory?
God, armed
and battle-ready.

9 Wake up, you sleepyhead city!
Wake up, you sleepyhead people!
King-Glory is ready to enter.

10 Who is this King-Glory?
God-of-the-Angel-Armies:
he is King-Glory.

Look at verses 3 & 4...Meditate on the question that is being asked here...

Based on the text; 2 Scriptures come to mind here...

Matthew 25:21

21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Revelation 2:10b

be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Food For Thought:

Only those who have been washed and cleansed by the Blood of the Lamb; only those who are truly walking with the Lord will see the King of Glory, only those who have been faithful unto death, will hear, Well done good and faithful servant, enter into the Joy of your Lord...
