A Great but Quiet Day...

Sunday, April 22, 2012

Hi All,

Hope your Sunday has been blessed.

Sunday's is always quiet for me, I seldom do much of anything with taking my day as a complete day of rest. I'm so busy with family, church and tenant's association throughout the week I really need my Sunday's to take time for me..

I start my day off with a quiet time and prayer, then I get ready for Church. This morning was a an awesome service, the praise and worship was really good and the sermon was so anointed, our Pastor spoke on prayer.

After the service I stayed back for a while and sat in the fellowship hall and enjoyed fellowship with a nice cup of tea and a couple cookies, don't always eat 2 cookies but they were scrumptious so I went all out.

Once home I have been here working on my team and on my spark page, had a relaxing and quiet evening, ate a scrumptious supper and now writing my 1st blog of the day.

Have a great evening and enjoy your coming week..

Blessings and Hugs... emoticon emoticon

Psalm 119:1-8 (NKJV)

Meditations on the Excellencies of the Word of God

à Aleph

1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way,
Who walk in the law of the Lord!

2 Blessed are those who keep His testimonies,
Who seek Him with the whole heart!

3 They also do no iniquity;
They walk in His ways.

4 You have commanded us
To keep Your precepts diligently.

5 Oh, that my ways were directed
To keep Your statutes!

6 Then I would not be ashamed,
When I look into all Your commandments.

7 I will praise You with uprightness of heart,
When I learn Your righteous judgments.

8 I will keep Your statutes;
Oh, do not forsake me utterly!

    Another one of my favorite Psalms! all 150 chapters!

What a focus 119 has God's Word (testimonies, judgements, commandments, statutes, laws, precepts, etc)! Every verse has a reference to God's Word!

Psalm 118

Psalm 118 (NKJV)

Praise to God for His Everlasting Mercy

1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.

2 Let Israel now say,
“His mercy endures forever.”

3 Let the house of Aaron now say,
“His mercy endures forever.”

4 Let those who fear the Lord now say,
“His mercy endures forever.”

5 I called on the Lord in distress;
The Lord answered me and set me in a broad place.

6 The Lord is on my side;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?

7 The Lord is for me among those who help me;
Therefore I shall see my desire on those who hate me.

8 It is better to trust in the Lord
Than to put confidence in man.

9 It is better to trust in the Lord
Than to put confidence in princes.

10 All nations surrounded me,
But in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.

11 They surrounded me,
Yes, they surrounded me;
But in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.

12 They surrounded me like bees;
They were quenched like a fire of thorns;
For in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.

13 You pushed me violently, that I might fall,
But the Lord helped me.

14 The Lord is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation.[a]

15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation
Is in the tents of the righteous;
The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.

16 The right hand of the Lord is exalted;
The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.

17 I shall not die, but live,
And declare the works of the Lord.

18 The Lord has chastened me severely,
But He has not given me over to death.

19 Open to me the gates of righteousness;
I will go through them,
And I will praise the Lord.

20 This is the gate of the Lord,
Through which the righteous shall enter.

21 I will praise You,
For You have answered me,
And have become my salvation.

22 The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone.

23 This was the Lord’s doing;
It is marvelous in our eyes.

24 This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

25 Save now, I pray, O Lord;
O Lord, I pray, send now prosperity.

26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
We have blessed you from the house of the Lord.

27 God is the Lord,
And He has given us light;
Bind the sacrifice with cords to the horns of the altar.

28 You are my God, and I will praise You;
You are my God, I will exalt You.

29 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.

If God is for me,
who can be against me?

Wisdom from the Psalms

Friday, April 20, 2012

April 20

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

The cross I wear around my neck is not there for show, nor is it the object of my worship. I would not be lost without it, though I do like it. I do not believe it has some mystical power, nor does it protect me. The cross that I wear reminds me of the great love that God has for me. Christ's gift of eternal life is made real to me each time I look down at the cross or feel it lightly resting on my chest. In difficult times, I look at the cross and feel warmth and comfort. From its gentle reminder I draw strength when I am weary, refuge when I need to rest. Whether I wear my cross or not, God is with me, but sometimes it is nice to have a small reminder.

Prayer: I run to You when I need rest, Lord. You take me in Your arms and protect me from the pressures of the day. In every time of trial, You are the source of my help. Thank You. Amen.

Psalm 116 & Psalm 117

Psalm 116 (NKJV)

Thanksgiving for Deliverance from Death

1 I love the Lord, because He has heard
My voice and my supplications.

2 Because He has inclined His ear to me,
Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.

3 The pains of death surrounded me,
And the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me;
I found trouble and sorrow.

4 Then I called upon the name of the Lord:
“O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!”

5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
Yes, our God is merciful.

6 The Lord preserves the simple;
I was brought low, and He saved me.

7 Return to your rest, O my soul,
For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

8 For You have delivered my soul from death,
My eyes from tears,
And my feet from falling.

9 I will walk before the Lord
In the land of the living.

10 I believed, therefore I spoke,
“I am greatly afflicted.”

11 I said in my haste,
“All men are liars.”

12 What shall I render to the Lord
For all His benefits toward me?

13 I will take up the cup of salvation,
And call upon the name of the Lord.

14 I will pay my vows to the Lord
Now in the presence of all His people.

15 Precious in the sight of the Lord
Is the death of His saints.

16 O Lord, truly I am Your servant;
I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant;
You have loosed my bonds.

17 I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And will call upon the name of the Lord.

18 I will pay my vows to the Lord
Now in the presence of all His people,

19 In the courts of the Lord’s house,
In the midst of you, O Jerusalem.

Praise the Lord!

Psalm 117 (NKJV)

Let All Peoples Praise the Lord

1 Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles!
Laud Him, all you peoples!

2 For His merciful kindness is great toward us,
And the truth of the Lord endures forever.

Praise the Lord!

    I love what I call the "choice" phrases in the Psalms... and there a some in this one, too.. (116)

v.4 - THEN I CALLED upon the name of the Lord - a past choice...

Choices I determine to make!
v.9 - I WILL WALK before the Lord... - a choice...
v. 10 - I BELIEVED... a choice
v. 13 - I WILL take up the cup of salvation... - a choice
v. 14 - I WILL pay my vows to the Lord... - a choice
v. 17 - I WILL offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving... a choice
v. 17 - I WILL call upon the name of the Lord... - a choice
v. 18 - I WILL pay my vows to the Lord... - a choice.
