What a busy busy month it has been. It began when I decided to fly down to Atlanta to drive a friend back up north. It was a fun road trip but way to short. And we were so tired we barely talked to each other.
Next came my daughters 7th birthday. I can't believe she is getting so big. We have been holding her parties in our backyard on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend each year. It's been real hot or cloudy but we never had to cancel a party. Well, there is always a first time. It was raining. We called the bouncy guy, the clown lady, the tables and chairs person. Thank goodness all were able to reschedule for Monday. And then we had to get in contact with all the guests and make sure they could still attend. Everything turned out so great. Everyone had a good time. On Sunday I went down to the airport for the airshow. Although the airshow itself is a few miles away at the beach this is where they are on display and takeoff and land. Usually they do some low pass flybys and aerobatics but it was extremely windy and very cold. It was a bla day overall.
And now going back to the party on Monday. It was scheduled from 1-5pm. Things were going well. Everyone had finally left. Kathy was in the house cleaning up around the kitchen. I was outside cleaning up the tables and chairs, garbage, and a tent. Emily and Eric were playing in the big bouncer/slide all by themselves having a great time. I was minutes from finishing. And then it happened. Eric started screaming. I thought the two of them were just messing around as usual. But Eric wouldn't get off of Emily. I went over and he was crying, I picked him up and went to stand him up on the ground when he screamed a death scream. I tried checking his feet and ankles. I yelled for Kathy to come outside and get him. After she brought him inside for a minute she screamed out to me that we needed to go to the ER. I ran inside and his left thigh was about 3 times as big as his right. Not thinking, instead of calling for an ambulance we both called our Moms. One to drive to the hospital while one of us held him in the car, the other to watch Emily and the stuff in the backyard until the man came back to take it away.
I wound up staying home waiting with Emily and my Mom left. The guy came to take down the bouncer and I got the call, Kathy confirmed my 2 1/2 year old son had broken the hardest bone in the body to break, his femur (thigh). The doctor wanted Emily and myself to go to the hospital and tell him what happened, basically a freak accident when Emily was coming down the slide, Eric was there. Kathys Mom took Emily back home with her. Emily took off Tuesday from school. Kathy went in an ambulance and Eric was transported to another hospital 30 miles away. I went home and got a few things and drove up there myself. The difference in hospitals was night and day. The one we always go too has been there for us forever, but this one was like a 5 star hospital. Everything about it from size, to decor and of course the staff.
Eric went in for surgery early the next morning. They only call it surgery because they have to put him asleep so they can set the fracture and also set the full body cast in a specific position so that Eric can sit in a car seat. Everything went great. The doctor was, WOW! That great, nice, convincing that he knew what he was doing. LOL. I posted a pic last week, his cast is from his left toes all the way up around his abdomen and his chest. But thank goodness they did not have to put it half way down his right leg. All of that is to stabilize the thigh from moving at all. We are talking about a 2 year old. We had an appointment yesterday to check on everything and it looks good and the cast should come off in the scheduled 4 week time period which is three weeks from yesterday. After he will most likely need some therapy to help walk again. But it shouldn't be long.
And that's where I am today, taking care of him all day. We moved his bed downstairs in to the play room where he can watch tv all day. All I hear is, "Dada, coommee heerrreee" LOL It's cute. And tiring. Alot of stress has not been good, I have not given one thought to myself and I gained some weight, now back to 387lbs. Still have three weeks of this, so I can't even say I will do this or that in the coming month.
Hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather and getting outdoors. Take care and stay healthy.
