Worried about employment screening

Friday, August 12, 2011

Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but I took Prescribed adderal on monday for my interview, then I was offered the job and got all worked up about having to tell my present employer. So this morning (friday) I took a xanax. I never even considered the fact that they could show up on a drug test.

I don't want to even disclose that I take these prescriptions and I rarely take them, it's only as needed and prescribed that way. So now I'm stuck not sure if I should disclose taking the prescriptions. If its out of my system then no worries, but if it's not the adderal can show up as an amphetamine (think I''m okay with that one it will have been over a week by the time I test) but the xanax I have no idea when that leaves your system. I guess xanax can show up as a something bad too, benzodiazepines.

On top of that if the only do the simple test nothing will show up, but an expanded test is where they would show. It's not like I can walk in and say "excuse me, which test or we doing"

Uggghhhhhh If I can find out that there out of my system then I don't won't to disclose that I take them. AND the last time I even took them was once 3 months ago!

Congrats on your new job! Trust me- they ain't looking for those type of meds. You can either take your prescription bottles with you to the test or disclose your prescriptions if asked on the form. All they wanna know is are your meds illegal.

Honesty is the best policy. Just get a note from your doctor stating that you are on these medications. Thats all they need to know.

Honesty is the issue - if you are honest when asked what you take, then the employers look past that. DIShonesty is where it will come back and bite you in the bum!

When they send someone for a drug test where I work, they have to answer a questionnaire which is the prescriptions they are on. If anything shows up on their drug test they see if it is on their list. One guy did a cleanse and put down he was taking high blood pressure and high cholesterol drugs but they didn't show up on the test so he didn't get the job. They are looking for the illegal drugs so tell them the prescriptions you are on. If it shows up on the test then they know you have a prescription and it is a legal drug.
Good luck on the new job.

Got The JOB!!!

Thursday, August 11, 2011

I got the phone call this morning. I had a interview on Monday and today I was offered the position!!! The teaching market is horrible here, it's all about who you know and I'm not one of those that puckers up. Every job I've applied for I've later found out it was a friend or relative of someone who got hired.

Well I finally got my job with no compromised morals emoticon emoticon emoticon

I will be teaching certified preschool in conjunction with the county community service agency. I get the best of both worlds, my teaching and psychology work!!!

Congratulations! Good for you for going into teaching. It is so under appreciated and maligned these days, but it is a profession that makes a difference. I am glad you didn't give up. Best of luck to you!

Keepin it off

Thursday, August 04, 2011

Well it's been 2 weeks and I've kept off the pounds I lost emoticon
So I get to add it to my ticker!! My highest weight ever was 264, when I reset my spark settings I was at 255. So this journey round I've started at 255 and aiming for 150. Even at 150 I'll still be a bit heavy....for my height a healthy goal weight is 130, but I'll worry about that when the time comes.

Good luck reaching your goal. My healthy BMI (for 5'4") is 145. I'm stuck at 148, which is okay, but wouldn't it be nice to actually officially be NORMAL? So I keep trying.

Pluggin along

Sunday, July 31, 2011

I've had some tough days and not turned to food for comfort. In fact I drastically cut my intake for a a couple weeks and I lost 8 pounds. I haven't put it on my tracker because I keep loosing and gaining the same 10 pounds. I'm trying my best to keep it off and keep going.
right now I'm looking at cheap options for healthy foods. It seems harder to eat better on a tight budget.

I haven't been exercising but i've been more aware of being active. So maybe in a sense I'm exercising lol. I've been a lot more active. Now I've had about a week of "blah" again. But during that time I didn't eat just to try and feel better.

Wow!!! How exciting! Not that you are having a difficult time, but that you aren't turning to food to help you deal with it. That is motivating to me and will be to many others. Keep up the great work and I'm here if you even need to talk to someone.

We all have ups and downs.
Burn some off calories and get those endorphins.
punch a pillow, go for a brisk walk, jump rope etc.

Try to keep your chin up. emoticon
