Quick Meal Ideas REALLY?!

To be sure I am totally clueless. I need to sit down w/some recipe books and create some easy menus. I am going to do that Friday and hopefully will make up some good menus. I am not a fan of the cooking and this is not going to be easy. I have tons of recipe books, including Sparkpeople's book.

I will try to make something w/Chicken since I have so much. If I don't sign in again you will know I died from food poisoning. emoticon

    Here is an Idea do some batch cooking. When you bake chicken bake a few extra. The next day you can have a salad and add chicken

Stir frys are always fast. I can make them faster using prepreping Same Idea if you cut up a pepper use half sock the other away in the freezer. I always try to have frozen pepper mix to add to things. Zuchini and summer squash, with cut up pieces of chicken

Breakfast, Who says you have to eat it in the morning. That was my fast and easy a few nights ago. Waffles topped with loads of healthy berries and even with making the waffle batter from scratch it was a fast and easy.

I also like the slow and easy dishes something with less than 5 min of prep and stick in in the oven for 40min to an hour.

    ROFL. You are NOT going to die from food poisoning. Do you like curry? One of my favorites to make is Chicken Curry with some brown rice or Chicken stir fry. I even cheat and use california blend vegi mix then just add some fresh mushrooms and collard greens, sometimes even some snap peas. Those are great because you can make a double batch, and either have it two nights in a row, or for dinner one night, and lunch later.
What type of things do you like and I'll give you some suggestions of things that I try. I'm all about the quick easy dinner too. Tonight not so much, over an hour to make, but one of DH favorites, chicken breast stuffed with cheese, spinach and mushrooms, fried in a touch of oil with ww flour, then baked with some mashed cauliflower for me, mashed potatoes for him. that with my homemade chicken noodle soup, and we had a great dinner. Tomorrow is another time consuming one, chicken parmesean.

My Fun Place (In My Exercise Journey)

I was asked to do a blog about what makes me happy and to keep me somewhat motivated. We all have those times when the BLUE Funk monster is sitting on our shoulder. He is there saying nasty things in your ear and his cousin is down by your feet trying to keep them pinned to the floor.

I have had that little creep and his family all over me last week, which is why it has taken me this long to write this blog. emoticon I did my workouts but with little enthusiasm. I have been thinking about what I enjoy most about working out and came up with the routines I use.

HUH? Ok what I mean is, I love to dance and I LOVE martial arts. I have tried a variety of work out routines that are just WORK, no music, no fun, no none of the stuff that I really love. They are too boring So I stopped doing them. For Example, I have a workout called "Slim in 6" from Beach Body.com and it is an incredible routine and works. I forced myself to do this for 30 days and had to stop. It was not fun for ME!

Now let's talk about JUDI FUN-ERCISE:
1. Burlesque by Jazzercise - LOVE IT!! Dancing and shaking the booty, I had a blast doing that one.
2. Hip Hop Abs - DANCING!!! Shaun T is so much fun and such a wild card that you have to have fun.
3.Rockin' Body - DANCING!!! again w/the Shaun T and fun. Great Dance moves and OH The sweat!!
4.TURBO JAM - Martial Arts, little Dancin-like moves, Chalene Johnson - ENERGY and Attitude that make you want to work!!! Oh and the "SCULPT" part of this one is killer...I use 5 lb weights and have tried to add in my 2 lb glove weights and have to take them off after 25 min which is good since the routine is 40 min. I keep trying though.
5.TURBO FIRE - This one is when I am stronger. I have the knees from hell and they are not ready for that one yet. But the day is coming soon...
6. Belly Dancing - Kathy Smith - This is really fun and so hard to move, but I keep trying.
7. Zumba - Need I say more - Well I will, I love Berto, the creator of Zumba, he is so adorable. I have the "First" Zumba DVD set and it is much easier than the "Exhilarate" DVDs( I have those also) and w/the first there is an Ab routine (standing of course) that is so much fun and if you do it right - WOW!! did that this morning after Turbo sculpt(40 + 17 min)
Other DVDs that I have which I will be adding into my routine:
8. Core Rhythns - Hot sexy Dancing
9. HOT HULA FITNESS - OMG!!! I do the beginner disc an and the Belly Dancing (learning segment) on Friday nites and wow!!! Hot Hula Fitness is going to be my new favorite, I love that stuff!!!
I could continue to add my DVD collection here but I won't bore you w/that stuff, this is all the best of the best.
But I will catalog it all and do a little blog about it later emoticon

So now you know how I keep the fun in my workout, I DANCE!!!
This is how I get the stress off my shoulders at the end of the week, I DANCE!!!
This is what I turn to when I need to hit something or someone.....Ok not dance but TURBO JAM - a whole lotta punchin' and kickin' going on!
And I do have a punching bag for something to actually hit if I have to. emoticon

By the way don't get discouraged if you can't do the steps the first few times. It will take some time to get in the "groove". Just have FUN!! Dance, Punch, Kick!!! Enjoy and then one day, you will be doing the routine and notice that you are keeping up w/the video and Yeah Baby You HAVE MADE IT!!!
I remember w/Turbo jam, she was doing all this kick punch back kick knees and what have you and I did something but just kept on doing it and then one day I was right on w/the video and it felt EXTRA good!!

    OK, so I have all these stupid DVDs here, and haven't even bothered to put them in. I tried the Turbo Jam once, but couldn't even begin to keep up. I guess it's time for me to put one in and try it for 30 days. Thank you for sharing Judi. I need to try something new, and this had motivated me to do just that. :)

Making the right choices in the grocery store - This won't be easy

I am not a fan of brown this that or the other. I only eat white rice, white bread when I do eat it. I am trying to look at food differently. I want to make the right choices but it is really difficult. I don't like the way things taste and I won't buy them. I am not that great a cook, I can do basic, and that is what I will start with.

I try to look at the "right" stuff when I shop, but I am not really into that. I am able to back off the sweets and other junk but cooking lite is not as easy as it seems. I have cut back on my salt and that is a great thing to say the least. I am trying to buy fresh but it is not always that easy.

In the summer I am not really a fan of the kitchen at all, I tend to buy things that I can heat up and add rice or a potato. I bought some collards from Chik-fil-a since I can't make them that well.

But I am GOING TO BUY MORE VEGETABLES emoticon AND WORK HARDER AT STAYING AWAY FROM FAST FOOD. emoticon

  You can totally do this! I've been transitioning to whole foods over the past few months. I find that I'm really learning to enjoy cooking. You should really look at quick simple recipes to show you how easy it can be. One food blog that I love is Poor Girl Eats Well (www.poorgirleatswell.com). She has super simple recipes that can be whipped up in no time. Bonus - the recipes are delicious!!

    You will be amazed how this will change in time. I find I'm eating at home more, and learned to enjoy cooking and trying new things, and tracking more and more things, like salt. You CAN do this!!!! Try trying one new thing a month. You may be amazed what you like. Heck, you are the one that got me to try collard greens. I add them to my stir fry vegis almost every night now. :)

Inspiration from a friend at Work and from Not Being In That Much Pain

Hey I have a friend at work that has shown me a picture of herself after she had a baby. She was so overweight. She was size 13 and is now a size ZERO!! She only comes just above my shoulder (I am 6 feet tall) She was on bedrest and in the hospital after she had the last baby. She said that it was over a year before she lost all that weight.

That is a great source of inspiration. I see how big she was and how little she is now and know that I can do this beyond a shadow of a doubt. I am enjoying my weight loss and the fact that I am actually getting somewhere.

I have inspiration coming at me from all angles now. My spark friends, friends at work and the benefits of loosing weight. My left leg is really bad, the knee swells and the ankle swells and lately it is not so bad. I have a bad back and that is not so bad now. I still hurt but I am not in so much pain now. I am enjoying the benefits of loosing weight.

When I do work out I "GEAR UP" to keep me safe. I have knee braces that I put on both knees and I put on a brace for my back since my lower abs are so WEAK I need extra support for my back.

I am changing my workout routine yet AGAIN!! I am adding in the Bicycle crunch to the cardio routine that I am doing. Hip Hop Abs, well I love doing that but it is getting too easy and I am not really breathing that hard anymore. I need more and different, so I have different and will change that up Friday since I have my Zumba Ab routine tomorrow morning. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I have LOTS of fun exercise videos. I will pick one and go for it. I am still doing the Turbo Sculpt since I can fix that one w/heavier weights. I have ankle weights that I can use and also the glove weights for my hands that are 2 pounds p/hand. I need to see how much 10 pound weights cost.

I am working out and loving it!!!

Rock it Team Challenge Week 3 - My Obstacles

1. I have a hard time getting started in the morning. I finish walking my dogs emoticon and then I want to veg in front of the TV.
To make myself move I think of my ranking w/my fitness minutes. I was 16 at one point in the Atlanta fitness minutes. I thought it was really cool that I could rank so high in Atlanta, big city and all. I also want to make sure I get my fitness in since I have now lost over 10 pounds in a little over 2 months. I like the challenge of getting the workout done. I also like how my clothes fit. I am going to try to get my picture taken in my work out clothes so that I can see what I really look like. I also want to help my team by getting in my minutes now. Being on a team makes me want t o make sure that we do well. I want to loose this weight and I want to make my team proud. emoticon

2. Another obstacle is getting in exercises for my lower abs.
I need to work on my lower abs. I am regular crunch girl on the ball emoticon and need to work on the lower abs to get them in shape. I just don't feel like doing laying on the floor to do them since my dogs like to step on me sometimes. I also hate floor work since I don't like to get back up from down there. I have looked at numerous videos to get ideas and I think I have found my inspiration. Tiffany Rothe is one awesome lady!! emoticon I ran across her videos on YouTube one day. Her videos are really awesome and tough and I am going to run her videos to work on my lower abs and getting some stretching. She has a lot of different routines. I am going to work on that tomorrow morning (Thursday). I need to work on my back as well. I have to do some stretching.

Working out is a difficult thing for me sometimes but it helps w/the stress I am under. I need the sweating and the strain on my muscles. I am thinking of adding in belly dancing, but I am such an uncoordinated thing that I know it will take me a while to get it right.
