First half-marathon...:-) WooHoo!

Sunday, April 03, 2011

To finish is to succeed...I finally succeeded in completing a half-marathon. What started out as a goal to start running again in July 2010 has turned into completing the biggest race of my life. I finished the Rock-the-Parkway (Kansas City) half-marathon with a time of 2:15. I did it with one of my best friends, who was able to finish several minutes ahead of me. He even backtracked at one point to check on how I was doing. That was both courageous and considerate.

The impact of the race has just started to sink in. I never imagined completing 13.1 miles (let alone 3) when I began this journey. Completing it has opened up a whole new world for me. The encouragement, the camaraderie and the support I have received from my family and friends has been phenomenal. Completing this race has given me the courage to realize that I can do anything I set my sights on. All it takes is planning, support, and perseverance.

I can't wait until my next half-marathon in October!

Sometimes the most important thing in life for me is to have the focus needed to make and achieve the goals that are wanted in life. I just have to keep focusing on that objective. One step at a time.

It is time to be fearless...

Monday, January 25, 2010

It is time to be fearless. It is time to break down the barriers which have held me back. It is time to look at myself without fear or regret. It is time to accept that "one step at a time" has meant sometimes stepping sideways and backwards. it is time to accept myself for who I am and the person I want to become. It is time to put my "life" back in the word "lifestyle". It is time to remember that communication is one of the most essential tools in any journey, weight loss or otherwise.

It is time to face the sunrise and not the sunset. I may only take small steps, but they are now ones without fear. I am ready to walk into the light.

Set a personal best for me!

I am training for a 5K and I ran under 31 minutes(30:55)! When I started training in November, I did 5K in 38 minutes (I remember walking a lot...). I am really excited and have shared my happiness on the message boards. It is really motivating to reach a goal like that. My next goal is to run a sub 30 minute 5K in 30 days. emoticon

Good start to the week...

Monday, January 18, 2010

My week was off to a good start. I was at home today and was able to control my portions very well. I kept my nutrition in check. I also exercised today and had really good results. I need to continue to work on documentation and goal setting this week. emoticon
