Been a long time- time to get back at it

Saturday, July 28, 2012

No excuses to where I've been, out of touch, out of sync, out of caring about what I eat. Not sure why, but I'm back now determined to do it the right way without obsessing and without an unrealistic goal weight.

emoticon emoticonWe are glad you decided to come back! You can do this! It takes one day at a time! To me it isn't about you can't have this or that, but it's about trying to do your best every day, and if you do fall off the wagon, then you just get right back up the next day and give it your all! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Assignment # 1 GETTING READY

Have you got your gym clothes, runners, water bottle, etc. ready to go?

What is your exercise plan?
Run 3x/week, Kickboxing 2x/wk, and cycling 2x/wk

Do you know what diet you will follow?
-I strive for 'clean eating'. I will track my food daily and strive to stay within all recommended nutrition ranges. I will adjust my calorie intake dependent on my activity level

Do you know how to connect with your team mates?
-I will visit our Team Page at least once a day, huddle, comment on member blogs and support my team members any way I can.

Did you put your Winter 5% Challenge Commitment on your page?
-Yes I did!

#2 Time to update your Spark Page:
-Updated 'About Me' and 'Goals' to reflect my participation in the 5% Winter Challenge: Team Teddy Bears!

-I will track my daily activity minutes in the 'About Me' section as the SPARK Fitness Tracker can sometimes have issues.

List all the reasons you want to lose weight. What do you want to change? How do you want to look? How do you want to feel? What things will you be able to do in the future with a slimmer healthier body? And list all the OTHER things that you want to change:

-I want to look toned and feel fit and healthy.

A "Trigger Food" is defined as the one that gets you off course for the next hour and you are not eating because you are truly hungry. List all your trigger foods:

-Trigger foods for me are sweets...after 4pm.
-I usually do not keep them in the house.

Please update your data in Start/my Goals & Progress. Calculate your 5% (goal):

Time to look at the diet plan, clean the fridge, tidy the pantry, make a grocery list and shop:

Is there something you eat often that you have learned to cut the calories on? What works best for you? Do you have something you can share with us?

Fall Challenge Wrap Up- 12.44 lbs and 8.7%

Saturday, November 19, 2011

Today was the final weigh in, and I'm pretty excited that I achieved the goal of losing 5%. Being on a team has really helped me to stay focused. It's been great to get to know more people on Spark and see that some of their challenges are the same ones I face. I can't wait to get started again for the winter challenge. I'm getting close to the weight I would like to stay at and this next challenge should put me there or at least close to it. Have a great weekend spark friends, get out there get some exercise and eat well.

Wow, you did great!!! Congrats to you, I know you must have worked very hard to have achieved it.
I too should reach goal weight during the Winter Challenge. Actually, I should have reached it during the Fall Challenged but somehow I became a bit 'challenged' myself and failed to do so. Look out Winter, cuz here I come!

Oooh baby it's cold outside.

Thursday, November 17, 2011

I am obviously not a fan of cold weather. Tonight I laid out my clothes for my morning run, and my daughter walked in and said "Where are you going on a winter expedition somewhere?" Ha, yes, I hate to be cold. I'm always cold, even in the summer, I rarely wear shorts because I'm always chilled. Must be poor circulation or something. Anyways, the point of this is that I just cant handle running in this stuff, and seeing the snow this morning was the last straw. So I promptly went to the library did some research with the help of Consumers Report and purchased myself a treadmill. Not sure how long it will be before it gets here. The delivery said 1-6 weeks. I'm pretty excited though, and think I can tough it out until then. If you see someone that looks like a snowman running by it just might be me.

That is funny. I can imagine running so bundled up that it would be hard to run. I'm sure you're excited about the treadmill! That should make it easier during these cold months!

LOL! I'll keep an eye out for the jogging snowman. Congrats on the treadmill - mine is a lifesaver for the cold and yucky days!

Stay warm. If I have my druthers, I will live in Florida for the rest of my life, 'cause I'd rather be hot than cold. And I have found running a wee bit difficult in Florida cold- those muscles like to be warm.

You and me; we are blood sisters! I HATE to be cold. Shorts and sleeveless shirts are a rarity for me in the summer . . and forget swimming unless the water is Hot Springs temperatures!!! I'm the one who puts on glove in the summer to shop the freezer section of the grocery store! LOL!!! I will be bundled up like a snowman myself . . . wave your mittened hand at me!!!

I hear you sister. I hate the cold. I don't have a treadmill but I wish I had a nu step so I could stay inside and not go outside to exercise.

Updating the kitchen

Saturday, November 12, 2011

Not that I don't have enough on my plate, but the fall season gets me in the mood to clean and re-decorate. We have lived in our house for 18years and I'm getting sick of all the oak trim and cabinets and doors. Blah. So I asked the hubs if we could paint it all and he agreed. We spent the morning picking out paint and unscrewing the cabinet doors, drawer faces, and hardware. I think I will start with the cabinet cleaning tonight, and then start on the cleaning of all the cabinet and drawer faces tomorrow. At least this will keep my mind off of eating. After dinner seems to be my hardest portion of the day to stay on track, and I think because it is pitch dark at 5:30pm doesn't help either.
