Appt. with Orthopedic Surgeon today

Monday, January 24, 2011

Finally went to an Orthopedic doctor today to see what was really going on with the pain I have been having in my left knee. According to Dr. he wouldnt exactly say I have a tear in my meniscus but he called it fraying. Doing a scope at this point isnt necessary so he suggested ibuprofen for inflammation. I also made sure I didnt need to change my workout routine...and he said to definitely go by how my knee feels and that maybe riding my recumbent bike would be a better option. Elliptical would be better....but dont have one of those (yet). So I am going to press on and see how things go.

I agree with Nancy - take it easy and let your knee heal up. This healing is something better to let it take its own time and fully mend. You will keep strong and moving in the long run.

Wishing you rapid healing,
Chris

    Hey, Marlo,

From someone who has had 2 knee surgeries to remove torn meniscus, take it easy on that knee! Rest and give it some to heal! The elliptical is definitely easy on my knees. I'm keeping you in prayer that your pain goes away.

Marlo girl, do I ever feel your pain. Did he mention injections? I am a raving fan of them. I think it is so silly when they tell you to listen to your knee - like there would ever be a choice? I'll add you to my prayer list.

The Deaf Frog Parable

A Lesson of Life

A number of frogs were traveling through the woods. Two of them fell into a deep pit. All the other frogs gathered around the pit. When they saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead.

The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all of their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead.

Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.

The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out.

When he got out, the other frogs said, “Did you not hear us?” The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.

This story teaches two great lessons:

There is the power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day.

A destructive word to someone who is down can be the push over the edge. Be careful of what you say. Speak life to those who cross your path. Anyone can speak words that can rob another of the spirit to push forward in difficult times.

Special is the individual who will take the time to encourage another. Always be kind and encourage others.

The Spark

Ordered paperback copy of the book from Amazon on Monday and my goodness UPS just delivered it. That was super fast! They say knowledge is power so I am ready to add to the information I have gained on the site and hopefully get the scale moving in a downward motion.

Do the Hustle!!!

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Okay I went to hustle (line dance) class tonight. The class is for 2 hrs and I use to go every week but for some reason stopped going. Well I remembered along with learning new dance steps it was a decent workout because the hustles dances have come along way. They are long and some of them actually resemble aerobic exercise routines...LOL! So along with Zumba on Monday evenings I will be going back to hustle class on Wed. both of these will be a nice fun addition to my exercise routine.

I see infomercials at odd hours, but have yet to rhumba to zumba. I have two left feet, so I'm inclined to start with the dvds first...

Zumba looks like a good time! Anything that gets you moving while having fun is a win=win! When does this dance get added to *Dancing with the Stars???

Good for you! I did Zumba once, before joining Spark, loosing any weight or starting an exercise routine. It "chewed me up" and "spit me out!!!" But, it's a GREAT work-out and I'm actually planning to try it again this week.

Have fun!!!

I tried Zumba last week. The instructor was doing Zumba but I don't know if you can technically call what I was doing Zumba. I was moving, sweating and panting really hard so I guess it worked. However the class was really fast paced for me and made me feel old. I will give it another try this week.
