Spreading the Spark

Friday, April 05, 2013

This week I have told two people about this great program. One is a friend I got reacquainted with at the gym and the other was the owner of the yarn shop I go to. While I was there last night I discovered another gal there for social knit had just joined and I recommended she check out the NYTeam. Then my sister told me her son-in-law is also here on Spark. What a small world! emoticon

I just finished reading today's blog about how to use rewards for your accomplished goals and it made a lot of sense. I encourage everyone to read it. I like the idea of the money jars and I am willing to try that, but I think I will start small with fifty cents a day. My goal each day will be to take my vitamins and supplements every day for a week and if I'm successful I'll extend it week by week. I'm not really good at this and it's an area of my life I want to change. I've used this goal in the past, but never with any reward attached. I've had my eye on some beautiful but expensive yarn at my local yarn shop. I go there every Thursday night for a social knit with some friends. I will let Jodie, the owner, know what I'm planning. I'm going tonight so I'll pick out my favorite skein.

I'll keep you posted on my progress and I hope you will join me in this.

4/4/13 emoticon emoticon $.50

4/6 - $1.50
4/7 - $2.00
4/8 - $2.50
4/9 & 4/10 $3.50 One successful week!

Week 2: 4/11-17 Still going strong - $7.00 emoticon

I have done the same thing with exercizing. Think I`ll start it again. I love the colors of yarn...not a knitter myself but I can appreciate the work that goes into it as my mother use to do it.
You will have lots of $$$ in no time for some beautiful new yarn.

Well here I am another week in and have hit my first motivation plateau. I have not tracked my food since Friday. But I decided this morning that this is not acceptable to me so I got back on "track" today. I want to be successful and I know that these little hiccups are no reason to give up.

I have found one little bright spot though, and that is I am at least aware of what I am eating and know generally how much I have eaten whether healthy or not so healthy.

Trying not to let food be my sole thoughts for the day. I know planning my daily menu is important, but I don't think it's healthy for me to be constantly thinking about my next meal.
I think/hope when Spring finally arrives in New York and I can get outside and enjoy by gardens, going for long walks along the Hudson River and enjoying the sunshine this journey will be much easier. In the meantime, focus, focus, focus!!!

Week 7

Monday, March 25, 2013

I'm still motivated to reach my goal. Down 8.5 lbs so it's in range for healthy weight loss. I will admit I would have liked it to be more but I'm still pleased. More important is that I can see a change in how some of my clothes fit. I actually look forward to going to the gym now. I feel so much better both physically and mentally.

My short term goal is to lose another 8-10 lbs by June 7th. That's the date my oldest granddaughter graduates from middle school and I would like to look and feel better for her graduation ceremony. She attends the Inly Montessori school in MA.

Weigh In

Saturday, March 16, 2013

Not too pleased with the scale this morning. I didn't lose anything. On a positive note, I didn't gain anything either. I stayed within my calorie range and exercised consistently. I think maybe I did not eat enough for the amount of exercising I did. That's a scary thought for me and I have to break through that wall. Intellectually I know that you have to keep the furnace fueled to keep your metabolism rate up, but I'm not hard wired to eat more while trying to lose weight. I am determined to win this war and will keep fighting the battle.

Right it's not a gain.Do you do your measurements? Sometimes weight won't reflect inches moved around due to fat to muscle changes.Proud for your motivation with gym workouts. Stay strong!

I am the same way. Eating more because I exercized??? I want to have that I exercized as a plus for helping getting off the weight. We`ll see what the scales say for me on Monday. have a blessed weekend. emoticon
