Hello again!

Friday, August 09, 2013

What a busy summer this has been. July went by in a flash. Spent some great time with my grandchildren. Shawn and Isabel (the youngest) came home for a few days for a visit. We spent many hot & humid hours at local water parks. Then they went from here to Maine (5 hrs. away) to pick up the other 2 grandkids who had spent two weeks at a sleep away camp. From there it was another 4 hours home to Boston. I went along to keep Shawn company and to drive if needed. It was a very long travel day. I spent another week with them and DH came and picked me up. DH and I went to a concert in Cohasset at the Music Circus and saw the Temptations and the Four Tops. There is still one original member left in each one of these groups. Had a great time. Now it's back to routine. At the gym four days this week and burned 3100 cals. Weigh in is tomorrow so I hope the numbers are good. If not I'll keep plugging along. Glad to be back home.

New project for us is to paint the house. Started last weekend but it as been rainy for last two days. It's supposed to be nice for 4-5 days so I hope to make some progress. What we have done so far looks good. It's a big undertaking so I'm breaking it up into small areas at a time. Will do more of trim tomorrow.

Body Sculpt Class

Thursday, July 11, 2013

Well, I just returned from my third class and I feel like I've been run over by a Mack truck!!! emoticon There isn't a muscle in my body that doesn't hurt! I didn't know you could lift weights with your face!! That's right even my facial muscles hurt from the strain. It's not the amount of weight I'm lifting that's getting to me, it's the reps. This is brutal, but I will admit I like it!! (Isn't there a name for this self torture!)

I don't feel all that bad though because I'm hearing the same complaints from everyone else in the class. I know this will pay off and pretty soon I'll be able to feel the strength and endurance building.

Well I'm off now to sign up for a seniors swim class. We'll see how that goes!

Get out and try something new today. You just might surprise yourself!!

I can't believe how quickly the days are gong by. The last two months have been a struggle with getting healthier. My motivation has all but disappeared and the scale inched up a few pounds. But I've decided enough of this pity party--it's time to get back to work. Today day is the re-start. I will not give up on myself. I know there are others out there who have travelled down this road and have been successful. Losing weight should not have to be this difficult, especially when you when you are doing all the right things. No wonder we backslide.

This has been a very wet summer so far. We have had 8.68" of rain in just June alone. That's not counting the month of May. My mood suffers with extended periods of gray skies. Maybe that's why I've gone off track.

My cousin and her daughter have come home for a short visit. They live in No. Carolina and I haven't seen them in several years. Today we are meeting at my sister's house to catch up on our lives. Can't wait to see them.

I started tracking my food again and I have added another class to my schedule at the "Y".
It's a body sculpting class and I'm looking forward to it. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm Still Here!

Friday, May 10, 2013

Haven't been around for a while because it's a busy time of year. Spring finally arrived and now there's LOTS of yard and garden work to do. My flower gardens are coming along beautifully and it's exciting to see how much the perennials have grown from day to day. The vegetable garden is tilled and ready for fertilizer and planting. Hope to get potatoes & green beans in today and then start with tomatoes, peppers, cukes, and maybe broccoli next week. It's supposed to rain all day tomorrow which is good because everything is so dry here in upstate New York.

I'm still working hard on my weight loss/getting healthy journey. Although structured exercise has fallen off, I'm still getting 3 days of aerobics class a week and all that gardening counts too. Haven't weighed in for a while, but tomorrow I'll be back on the scale.

I hope you are all well and have a great day planned with lots of fun.

That's Thank God It's Today! I choose not to live my life in anticipation of one day but rather to enjoy each day to its fullest.

Make Today a Great Day

Past few days have been difficult

Thursday, April 18, 2013

Received word recently from my daughter that one of the teachers at my grandchildren's school passed away suddenly last Friday. He was 45 years old and left behind a wife and two small daughters. He was currently my grandson's teacher and also had his older sister as a student. My youngest granddaughter was looking forward to having him next year as her teacher. This is a small Montessori school and everyone is like family, so the whole school community is suffering at this loss. I had met and spoke with Ned several times and I immediately understood why all the kids loved him so. He will be greatly missed. Please keep his family as well as his "school family" in your prayers.

I will praay for him and all the others lost in Texas and Boston. My husband had a young Karate partner who shot himself on Sunday. All we can do is pray for those who are still on earth as the one's in heaven are fine. Take care of yourself! emoticon
