Morning workouts

Sunday, November 04, 2012

I love to start my day with my workout. An hour on the treadmill and resistance training. What a wonderful way to start my day.

I've spent the last hour or so reading and responding to blogs. It is so inspiring to read how others are doing. What an amazing group of people we are. Taking one day at a time. Sometimes days are good and sometimes days are bad, but the journey will be successful!

I also like to get my exercise over with. The longer I wait the more likely I am to talk myself out of it

The case of the killer jeans

Thursday, October 25, 2012

I went shopping last night and found an awesome pair of jeans on the clearance rack for $17.00. Realizing what a deal it was I immediately purchased the jeans (without trying them on) and headed to the car. Once I reached the car and got settled in I realized the jeans were too big . . . 2 sizes to big actually. I was so in the habit of seeking a specific size and hadn't been shopping in such a long time that I forgot what size I wear now. How exciting to take the jeans back into the store and tell them that I was sorry, but I had purchased the incorrect size. Unfortunately, there was not a pair in my size, but that's ok. It made for an excellent evening.

I have found that smaller size are in abundance on sale racks. Keep on looking around and you will find some! It is nice to be smaller than your go-to size! Congratulations and keep on sparking!

TGIF

What a week! Our new grandson is home and his 2 sisters are trying hard to adjust. Grandpa headed out for parts unknown, dad went to work, and mom laid down for a nap . . . that means gma (a.k.a. me) is in for a long evening. I am choosing to be positive and looking forward to bedtime! :) It's been a great week overall, I'm down a few pounds and I'll take measurements tomorrow to records my lost inches . . . notice the positive phrasing of that statement :)! I had planned to workout this evening, but oh well - the opportunities to enjoy these three all by myself don't happen very often. Wait for tomorrow's blog and I'll tell you how it went . . .

Woo Hoo! Lots of change this past week . . .

Many thanks to those of you who pointed out to me that the scale is only ONE measure of success on this journey. My goal is to take measurements weekly. I've been working out everyday. I feel great and my clothes are loosening up. I've walked at least 60 minutes on the treadmill everyday with an incline of 2-4 each session. I even had my heart rate up to 137! This is great -- I was sweating like a pig. It was a wonderful feeling. This week I'll add the resistance machines to my workout. Adding strength training to the cardio should be a good combination. In addition, we'll have a new grandson tomorrow . . . c-section scheduled for 7 am mountain time. What a wonderful gift that will be. Have a great week!

The times they don't seem to be a changing

Saturday, January 21, 2012

I've been tracking my food diligently for over a week and working out. My clothes feel great, but the scale is discouraging. Maybe I'm expecting too much too soon, but I thought I'd lose something this week! My A1C was high so my doc put me on metformin (spelling??). Maybe this will help . I'll be up early in the morning and on the treadmill for one hour first thing. Maybe I'll add some weights to my routine. I'm also doing some yoga weekly. So I have 3 positive working for me . . . healthy diet; regular exercise and a positive attitude! Results are sure to show up soon. :)

I whipped out the measuring tape after Yoitle's comment (Drum roll please).....I actually lost 4 inches overall! A great reminder that the scale is not the only measure of success. :)

You're right Yoitle. My clothes fit looser and I feel great. I'll take my measurements today.

If you have a chance to get a reading on percentage of body fat, start tracking that. I bet you are losing fat and gaining muscle with that kind of workout routine. The scale is just the surface of the ocean. Lots of things can be going on down deep. Tape measure is also another alternative especially if your clothes are fitting differently.
