It's just mean.
First.... I started the day with the scale finally moving. I hit the 20# mark! Yay! It was a good way to start the day. 20 pounds gone. I've worked my arse off for it!!!
Later, at the gym, I did my 30 minutes on the elliptical, and then hit some machines for strength training. Unfortunately, the women's gym is mostly walled in mirror. Ugh.
As I'm sitting, pushing weights, and thinking about form, I realize that I look REALLY FAT sitting down like that. So much feeling pretty good about myself.
Anyway.... finished the workout. Finished my work day. Ate some healthy tacos. Now ready for bed... at 5:50 pm. Yep. That was my day.
Hope you had a good one.

I have had several non-scale victories this week. I KNOW that my body is changing. I feel it. I see it. My trainer did measurements on Tuesday, and I'd lost over 6 inches from my hips in the past 3 weeks. My face looks thinner this last week. Bicep definition can be clearly felt under some flab... that I just noticed 2 days ago. I have burned 3400 calories this week in cardio, plus had 2 grueling training sessions with my trainer. My calories have been spot on.
But my scale will. not. budge. Haven't seen a loss on the scale in over a week. I figured that my period was adding some weight (and it did), but those extra pounds seem gone, and my period ended 2 days ago.
I'm trying not to have a pity party, but it sure would be nice for the scale to reflect my hard work.

This is probably a strange blog entry, but I am seriously excited about this find!
We LOVE tacos in this house. LOVE. Beef tacos, chicken tacos, black bean tacos, etc. Love them. I cook in the crockpot a lot, and have many crockpot taco meals. But the calories from the tortillas is killing me! While I can easily have 2 servings of the filling, I hate to eat more than one tortilla at 120 or more calories!
Today I found these:
Oh my word! I'm in LOVE! 50 calories per tortilla (soft taco size), 7 grams of fiber, 5 grams of protein? I'm in!
We had delicious chicken & black bean tacos from the crockpot today, and I gobbled up 2 1/2 tacos. Delicious!

On January 4th, my brand new trainer took some measurements. I was mortifiied... humiliated as she reached around me with her tape measure. Her kindness helped ease the blow, when she matter-of-factly stated, "Hips are 60.5 inches" and moved on to the next measurement.
Over 60 inches? That's 5 feet! I'm only 5'5" tall! I'm nearly as round as I am tall!?!?!?! How did I allow that to happen again?
Since that day in her office, I have been getting my sweat on. I do cardio 5-6 days per week, strength 2-3 times per week. I've been eating 1700-1900 calories a day, full of fruits, veggies, and proteins. In these past weeks, my endurance, strength, and coordination have improved. And I've lost 18.8 pounds. And I'm proud of that!
But today as she worked me out, she kept saying "you look smaller!" I told her that my pajama pants keep falling down, but the scale hasn't shown a huge change in the past couple of weeks.
"Let's go measure you!" She suggested. She last measured me on Feb 2nd.... just 3 weeks ago. And at that time, my hips were at 57.25". That was great progress! I was hoping for another inch or two.
As I stood in her office, she took my hips measurement and paused. Looked at my last measurements. Paused, then re-measured me.
"50.75 inches!" She exclaimed. "Nearly 10 inches in less than 2 months!!!"
I didn't believe her. I made her re-measure.
"No mistake. 50.75 inches! You are melting!" She smiled up at me as she reassured me.
I started to cry.
I am doing this. I've lost nearly 10 inches from my hips since January 4th. I am doing this. I am strong and determined.
She made a loop around my hips at 60.5 inches, and held out the loose tape. "This is what you've worked off," she told me. "This is your progress. YOU did this. You worked for every bit of this. Be proud of yourself. You deserve it".
She's right. I did this! I am doing this!
So here's to the next 10 inches! I can do it!
PS.... All my measurements showed a loss (4" from my abdomen!), but the hips measurement was HUGE and shocking. :)
