Toxic drinks

Thursday, May 03, 2012

I just finished reading an article to my hubby about all the toxins in soda and the damage that they do to people. I quit drinking sodas (again) a couple of months ago. When I read articles like this one, I am more determined than ever to stay away from the poision stuff!

Just like with cigarettes, it took years to convince people of the damage, it is even harder with sodas. I know I was/am adicted to them. So I have to stay away from them. We were raised with sodas. I remember putting it in bottles for my kids too, the same that was done to me. I am very glad information is sufacing (in great quantities mind you) about this poision stuff. I know for a fact that I will never give sodas to kids again and I will refuse to buy it for anyone else. I was reading lables and you cant even buy tea without them adding the carmel coloring to it! They dont really need to, tea is already brown. But the excuse they use on the labeling is that it makes the color uniform. So from now on I am making my own tea too.

I wish I could get my hubby to stay away from the stuff. I read him all the articles and hope the information sinks in someday. I saved this last article to read to my kids the next time they visit.

Well, I guess I am done ranting for today. LOL It just burns me to think how many people know that their product causes major damage to people and they only care about the money they are making off of making people sick! OK OK....I am done.

I hope everyone is having a good day. Love Joyce

Oh I know it. I have been studying alot about foods and there are several items in this same category. Except some of these things, (not soda though) I actually thought were healthy.

Knowledge is power.

That was one of the first things I gave up when I changed my eating habits. I only drink water now. I will have tea when it's cool outside though.

When I read that you can use soda to clean the battery acid off your car battery, I thought there is no way I can put that in my body!

Have a great day!

Sometimes I have this fire burning inside and just want to shout out loud how crazy this system of things is. So many people are so unaware and lacking knowledge about so many things. Daily I see the junk parents ship to school with their children for lunch. I see how many children are overweight and how inactive so many of them are. I see the increase in the number of children taking daily medications so they can settle down and focus. I feel the most sad for the children learning so many bad habits at such a yound age. The children are unsuspecting victims of all this greed and insanity. I am so grateful Jehovah has put a time limit on all this because it is very hard to watch!

I am grateful to the writers of "Eat This Not That". I get articles in the e-mail every week and they have eye opening articles like this one all the time. I read every one and am learning better and better what is toxic in the market place. I would suggest anyone who hasn't read the book yet to check a copy out at the library or pick one up at the store. There is alot of very good guidance in that book. They make a new one every year I think. It is about time I picked up a more current copy myself and re-read it.

This system of things revolves around greed. It seems you can't trust anyone that is selling something be it a product or a service. I look back at a medical issue a few years ago and realize how much greed came into play in my treatment. Really was an eyeopener..and a scary one!

Today lunch is breakfast

Wednesday, May 02, 2012

I had a slow start this am. Was feeling some pain. I ended up sleeping in until 10 am. So after I got up and worked out and did the dishes from last night, hubby was home for lunch. So for today my breakfast is lunch.

We had homemade subs again and I added an ounce of baked lays since I skipped breakfast, lunch was still under 500 calories, so I feel pretty good about it.

I want to try and check out the farmers market tonight. It is only open between 3-6 pm so we will have to hustle after hubby gets home from work tonight. He sold his bike yesterday for some extra money since things are so tight these days. He never rode it anyway and I can't even get on a bike in the condition I am in.

We are definitely looking forward to swimming season. I long to float in the pool again! LOL

I hope everyone is having a great day. I look forward to meeting you all some day in the future. Love to all........................Joyce

Our farmers market is on Sunday mornings. I drive by it on my way to the meeting. Maybe when my son is a little older and a little more mature, I might actually find the time to visit the market before the meetings. He still needs too much prompting to get ready in the morning. After the meeting everyone is so grumpy with hunger that I can't even suggest stopping to shop before they eat. Oh well - one day!

We recently tried a little truck stand for tomatoes..and they were SO good. I was eager to go back to Webster. 1st Sat, my car group didn't go anywhere near his stand. The next Sat...we made a point of driving by...and he wasn't there. The parking area where he had set up had been all filled with soil and graded...where or where is Webster and his yummy tomatoes?

I find it very difficult to get to farmer's markets..the timing just never seems to work with my schedule! Boo hoo. Hope yours opens soon.

Oh well, we went to find the farmers market that was supposed to open on saturday, it was not open, we went again today, it was not open. Hmmmm, wonder when it is gonna open? According to the website it was supposed to already be there. Guess we will keep trying or maybe look for another one soon. In the meantime there is a little produce stand nearby that will have to do for now. Just wanted to update y'all.

We are having homemade subs again tonight with better deli fresh bread. Can't wait to try it.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Love to you all! Joyce :)

Ups and downs

Tuesday, May 01, 2012

Well, today was my monthly weigh in. I was up a couple of pounds from my april 10th weigh in. I still think I am doing things right. This is my first weigh in since I started logging and exercising less than two week ago. So I am not going to let it discourage me. I know I have been eating right and exercising for almost two weeks now. It takes time for changes to show up. On the positive side, my pants do feel a little baggier to me this am. I hope it is not just my imagination LOL.

I had a very good veggie omlet wrap for breakfast this am and a small pear. I am drinking my tea now and thinking about what I want to do today. I wish it was swimming season already because I know what I would do if it was...Ha Ha Ha

We started a new puzzle this week so maybe I will work on it for awhile. It is going to be a present for my sister whenever I get done turning it into a wall hanging. My husband and I have made some really nice art out of some puzzles this year. People are impressed when they see them. Maybe I can post some pictures of them if my kids ever visit and help me do it. I don't know how to do that kind of stuff. I am not very computer savy, just what I have taught myself.

I hope everyone has a great and productive day. Love to all....Joyce

You have the right attitude. Don't let the small changes in your weight discourage you. It is all normal. If your pants feel bigger, they are! It is all good. When you remember all the things you are doing right, like good food choices, exercising, enjoying your food, eating consciously those are HUGE achievements. Weight loss is a side effect of the good choices. I have learned not to let the number on the scale distract me or discourage me. My life is not about that number, it is about the quality of how I live each day.

Remember, we can fluctuate 9 pounds in a day so don't worry about it. Hope the come, I'd love to see them. Years ago, I did a number of the round ones and hung them. Swiss scenes and the like.

Don't be discouraged...you are right. Things take time for some of us...but if your clothing feels better, your body is probably making adjustments. We are such complex beings...and everyone has different details...what works for one may not work readily for someone else..so we have to search for our own programs! Keep that good attitude! emoticon

Good Morning

Monday, April 30, 2012

Good morning everyone. I slept in til 6:30 today LOL. I just finished my workout and breakfast. I managed to do 45 minutes. I really don't know how. I just set a program on my wii and did not look at the clock til I was done. I was only aiming for 20-30 minutes. ha ha

The pizza last night was very good. I put cucumber, green pepper, red pepper, banana peppers, olives, and tomatoes on it. I wasn't sure how to log it so I just made sure not to eat too much, haha.

I am getting ready to have my orange herbal tea with agave nectar. It taste really good and helps me feel full after eating. It was Kashi cinamon harvest for breakfast this am.

After I am done here and drink my tea I need to get my but in the kitchen and prep some more veggies to use for the next couple of days. We used up the rest of what we had prepped for the pizza last night. We are having the leftover pizza for lunch today. Don't want to waste all those yummy veggies haha.

I hope you all have a great day. Thanks again for the encouraging comments on my blogs. You are like my family. Love to you all!!!! Joyce

Good for you to get up early. I used to do this regularly. My internal clock is a mess - proabaly from the afternoon pot of coffee my husband has been putting on lately. I need to just avoid it. I think that is messing with my sleep patterns. I'm hoping to get back to morning exercise on a regular basis because I like it sooo much. It makes me feel good all day. Take care!

Way to go and thanks for letting us know how the pizza went. Dh wanted pizza last night too so he had me pick up some from the store. I think the yeast in the crust gave me a belly ache as it has been over a year since we had, had that same one. Next time, he can have all but 1 small piece.

I shoot out of bed around six each morning. I have to open the chicken coop and put out feed...for the chickens, but also for the wild turkeys, bird feeders and all the other critters that come mooch.

GOOD for you that you get up and get so much done first thing in the morning. That is an excellent habit. Not everyone is a morning person, but if you are, it is a great start for each day! emoticon

Early Days Early Nights

Sunday, April 29, 2012

Well yesterday was a bust. After managing to make one call, it started thunderstorming. So common sense prevailed and we came back home. Later, after things calmed down, we went shopping. We have lots of veggies prepped and stocked for a couple of days. I found out its easier and almost as cheap to buy the sandwiches at subway. But we are ready for this coming week. I figured the sodium is coming from mostly the meat, but the bread adds some too.

I am gonna make a pizza for dinner tonight by getting a plain cheese take and bake one and adding lots of veggies to it. I will let you all know how it turned out. I bought cucumber, lettuce, green pepper, red pepper, yellow pepper, orange pepper, onion, tomato, banana peppers, and black olives. I can't wait to try all that on a pizza.

My homemade sub was ok, but the bread from subway is much better. They freshly bake it each day. You can really taste the difference.

This am I am gonna use my veggies to make an omlet and some pancakes.

We went to bed at 5 pm last night LOL and got up at about 3:30 am. I seem to feel better on this schedule. Go figure,,,,wierd hours....guess I am wierd. HA HA HA

I am gonna work out, then make breakfast, study, and get ready for service. We are gonna meet for service at our hall at 10 am and see if we can do better today than yesterday. Rain is still in the forcast, rain I can take, thunderstorms-not so much.

Well, I hope everyone has a great day. Love to all Joyce

Veggies on pizza sounds yummy! Spinach also tastes good on pizza.

Have you tried a bakery for the fresh bread? Sometimes, Subway is faster and cheaper when all is said and done. In our area we have Rio Ranch Markets. The fruits and veggies are cheaper.

Maybe this "normal for you" routine will work out. I know it's easier for me to study for the meetings when the house is quiet. I like to study before we sit down as a family. That way, I can do extra research if I know the boys need some extra explaining so they can get the point.

Hugs!

Our bodies work in different ways. Let me know how the pizza turns out. Sometimes I wonder if our Subway's will remove some of the inner bread like they do on Biggest Loser or maybe even be able to get just the bread in it's frozen state. I know you can buy bread loaves in it's frozen state, Rhodes has it. Maybe they also have the sub bread.
