Have you tried PB2?

Thursday, January 23, 2014

PB2 is amazing! It's basically a fat-free peanut flour. You add water to it until you get a peanut butter-like consistency. It's surprisingly good and tastes just like Peanut Butter - albeit a bit lighter where there's no oil in it.

Anyway... I've been trying to find ways to satisfy my sweet tooth and came across a few recipes with PB2 (you can order it online if it's not sold in your area) [ www.lowcarbcanada.ca/ is where I got it once!] I actually found a supplement store in Parklane Mall (Halifax, NS) that sells it at a very good price...

Back to the sweet tooth - I just made some amazing cookies that are nearly fat free and sugar free - they are really good!! Here is my recipe:

1 cup oatmeal
4tbsp PB2 (Chocolate or Regular)
1/2 Banana (mashed up)
1/4 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup egg whites or egg beaters
1/3cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Should make approx. 10 cookies. Bake at 350 for 12 minutes... take them out and let them cool to harden a bit more... and voila!

Amount Per 25 gram Serving:

Calories 60
Total Carbohydrates 9.4g
Dietary Fiber 1.5g
Sugars 2.3g
Protein 2.9g

PS: These will get you by, but they are certainly no "chips ahoy" or anything like that... lol Turn a bit rubbery the next day too.

PATCARTER56 - I make a yummy shake with it too! I put ice, a banana, a few tablespoons of PB2, and Almond Milk - it's freakin' YUMMY!! I love using bananas because they are so sweet - no sugar or sweeteners needed! :))

ITSABSURD - You've gotta try it! I'm pretty sure you can get it on Amazon too... I didn't look to see where you're from - but I know it's a lot easier to come by in the States. I left a link up there to order it online in Canada :)

ARNETTELEE - The cookies are really, really goooood!

Hahaha!! Nah Lori... I just go back to work stinky!! :)))

Actually, I change to do my workout and have towels and stuff to freshen up with before I get dressed again. I don't really stink when I sweat, or sweat a lot anyway... but once I change and towel off, I'm good to go! I put my good clothes back on, reapply deodorant, and go back to my desk!

Have a great day girlies!! :)))

Filing 'til ya drop!!

Tuesday, April 05, 2011

Hey girlies... I just realized that I don't think that I'm tracking my calories burned very well....

With my new position - especially now that it's the end of the year and graduation/sign out time - I am quite physical for a good 3 hrs of the day. For this time, I am constantly filing medical charts - this consists of carrying a good 5 lbs of them in my arms, walking continuously back and forth throughout the room, pulling handfuls of charts, etc, etc. I actually work up a bit of a sweat! I would normally track 3-4 hours of this as about 200 calories, but when I look at online calorie counters, they are telling me that I am burning just over 200 calories per hour!!

No wonder I'm hungry so much lately... I eat around 1500 calories a day... I've apparently lost 2 lbs over the past month... what would you folks track 3-4 hrs of filing/light lifting? The walking workout tracks over 1200 calories burned in 3 hrs!! I don't believe that!! However, what I do at work is about the same, if not more so, intense then the Leslie Sansone walking workout.

Lemme know what you think! :))

A heart-rate monitor would give you a good indication on how many calories you burned during the run of your day (pun intended). I haven't tried one yet, but others have and they say it's a lot closer to the exertion level they experience.

Thanks hun... I've actually done that :)) What I wanted to know is if you guys thought that this was accurate... to burn that many calories running around like a mad woman with charts in her arms... lol!! I never clock my calories burned the way it says... I knock a few hundred off and then record it cuz I just don't believe some of the numbers I get - like when I do 45 minutes of Turbojam, I'll get this insane amount of calories burned, but I'll just put between 200-300 calories instead. :))

Honestly, I would create a new entry in the Fitness Tracker, like you can do for the Nutrition Tracker. On the Search page of the Add Cardio section, there's a button for "Manually Enter Calories Burned". When you click that button, another window opens, and one of the boxes is "Add this Exercise to My Favorites". Type in the Activity Description, like "Filing at Work" but include the estimated calories either by minute or by hour in the description. It would look like "Filing at Work (200 cals/hr)". Then when you come to fill in your cardio minutes, you can calculate it quite easily. I did this a while back for ... um.... "waggly eyebrow activities"... since it's usually a lot more than 10 minutes worth of "activity". :-D Aside from that, there are a couple of entries under the "Other Activities" drop-down menu in the Browse section that might fit. Personally, I think "Heavy Cleaning" falls closer to what you're doing than most of the activities listed.

Do you get to at least wear sneakers while you work?? :-D

Use your imagination...

Monday, January 24, 2011

I was teaching myself how to a use a program manipulating photos with photoshop and motion. I used and edited all my own pictures. Some may think it's cheezy, but I love the thought of magic surrounding us - if only we'd stop to look a little harder. :)

I wish I could explain so much of it... I used to play by myself as a kid all the time... I read so many books about fantasy and folklore - first novel was in grade 3. I was very sensitive to things around me and have had so many crazy experiences - from lucid dreaming to even a totem vision! That's where the bird comes from.

I would (and still) dream about magic everywhere... that vibe you feel while walking in a beautiful forest - the anticipation like words on the tip of your tongue or that movement in the corner of your eye. Then we all grow up... but I still feel it. I remember a few years back thinking about how much I wish there were really a bit of magic out there when a little voice suggested that I could create it myself with the writing of stories or with the tools on my computer!

When my grandmother was on her deathbed - she was describing little lights around her all the time... so I thought of her when I created the ending of this video.

Kinda like after all in all is done... you come back to where you started - and that "thing" you felt as a child never left you afterall... :).

I'm glad that you love it Lori! Thank you!!

It's funny, because it was simply an experiement - a tutorial for myself. I thought it was totally cheezy, but my friend Ang loved it so much that she wanted me to post it. Even looking at it now, I see so many more things that I can do to it, but I think I'll simply start working on another one instead!

Have an awesome weekend sweetums! xo

    Thank you everyone!

The song is call "The Dance" by Charlotte Martin... I can't get enough of hearing it!!

The pictures are all my own that I've taken all over Nova Scotia - and all the effects and "little people" in the photos were a result of hours sitting at the computer teaching myself how to use layers, brushes, and several other effects with Photoshop.

That shot of the bird flying is several different layers that I created with my photos and the having them zoom in and out at different times to make the illusion of flying.

And any magic you felt... well that's all your own! xo

Val, thanks so much for sharing this wonderful video. I had to watch it over and over. You did an amazing job and are so talented. I loved being in the moment and the magic while watching this. I still remember dreaming as a child that I could "fly" and when I saw the bird those memories were just like yesterday. I do agree with Newfiegirl about being around kids and being a Mom..kids just make us feel young again and there is always some kind of magic and wonder around when kids are around. I also love to star gaze and wonder along with just laying near the ocean and just letting the sounds of the waves take you away.

Val I hope this is one of many wonderful videos for you girl.

Thanks again for sharing - beautiful !! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Val, you truly are talented with Photoshop. :-D I might work in IT, but graphics and video have always been a strength I have difficulty using. Weaving words into a tale or a business report is more my specialty, but when I see friends creating beautiful imagery like yours, I thank my lucky stars that friends like that share their craft.

Thank you for sharing some very personal viewpoints and experiences through the video. You've warmed a part of my heart that needed it today.

Spark on! :-D

omg Val, that was beautiful. There were so many points when I was watching this that I got lost in the music and revisited a few memories of my own. I think that is one of the reasons why I love being a mom so much because as adults we do loose that bit of magic we have as kids and being around kids rekindles that passion of letting go of reality and letting yourself go back to such magical times.
In the summer I often will go outside and just lay and look at the stars and let my mind go. It is therapeutic and is the thought s of magic.
Thanks so much for sharing that.

I think you have a real talent. I also think you should make more of these videos and post them on a regular basis so everyone who sees them can go on a journey that they that otherwise may never take.

I really liked this. I believe in this kind of magic too - I grew up on a farm and know the power of nature. You are right - as we get older, we lose our sense of wonder at the things all around us. It's good to remember to use imagination and to open up your senses!
