Blah Blah Blah and More Blah

Or is the bleh? Or meh?

I'm tired. It could be the weather, but I suspect anemia. I'm completely unmotivated and have been for several days (as you can tell from my lack of participation on this site). I'm tired of tracking my intake and my exercise. What's the point? I don't really care whether I lose weight or get healthier. I'm not the one who's concerned about it. Whether I live a few 'extra' months or years, what will it matter? I will never have the means to enjoy life, to see the places I long to see, to do the things I long to do. It's complete futility.

Instead of naming me Jon, my parents should have named me Job, only it's obvious (to me and probably to God) that I'm not holding out as well as he did.

Oh no! Please don't give up! I felt the same as you a while ago and in the long run it was a shortage of calcium and iron... get some supplements, be kind to yourself and take a deep breath...
Never give up on yourself!!!! Keep on tracking... it's worth it in the long run! emoticon

Need New(er) Walking Shoes

Wednesday, May 05, 2010

I did some preliminary online window shopping yesterday for new(er) walking shoes. I prefer New Balance and have had good luck with them in the past. I might even stop in at my local (i.e. expensive) shoe retailer to try on some of the models I reviewed.

I also love to wear leather sandals (i.e. flip-flops) this time of year, but I tend to clench my toes which causes aches and strains in some leg muscles. I know I could probably find a sandal with straps, but I really like complete foot freedom in my sandals. Less is more.

Employer Sponsored Health Enhancement Program for May

Thursday, April 29, 2010

I signed up for the 'Just Move It' health enhancement program sponsored by my employer and my health insurance company this morning. It is a simple four week exercise program running from May 2nd through May 29th. I'm required to record my 'intentional' exercise minutes for those four weeks. It's designed to motivate me to exercise to better manage my weight and stress and to improve my cardiovascular fitness and overall health.

And did I mention there were prize drawings throughout the program?

Beautiful Weather Finally!

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

Yesterday and today have been gorgeous. Last night, after car shopping, I barely made it home in time to mow part of my yard. The sun had set and I could dimly perceive the uncut grass from the cut grass as I finished the south side yard. And I must be getting into better shape as it didn't take me as long as it normally does to mow that piece.

I registered a couple of weeks ago to participate in the National Walk @ Lunch today and it was fun. I discovered a trail near my office building that is shaded and winds along Brookside Boulevard west of UMKC's campus. It's called the Harry Wiggins Trolley Trail. I may use it again in the future for a lunch walk.

Weekend Weather Damper

Monday, April 26, 2010

While I got lots of exercise last Friday clearing brush from my yard, I got next to nothing Saturday and Sunday thanks to the weather. Constant rain prevented me from walking the dogs (and myself) both Saturday and Sunday. And it's still raining today. My grass looks like it grew a foot even though I mowed it just last Thursday! And, to top it all off, I've a funeral visitation to attend this evening for a couple of hours. The prospects for walking and workouts are not looking good.

And, no, with two kids in college and a chronically ill and disabled husband, I can't afford to even think about a gym membership.

Meh ... Mondays

I was just thinking about the rain myself. I want to go walking at the park today and it will be my first park walk so I am praying that the rain will stop later this evening.
