Trust in God, Believe in Yourself, Dare to Dream!

Monday, March 08, 2010

We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter's evening. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light, which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true.

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world. emoticon

The End of the Winter of My Discontent

Friday, March 05, 2010

What a winter it has been! The weather was unseasonably cold. We have had winters when it has gotten a lot colder that it did this winter but only for a day or two. This year it just stayed cold for almost the entire 90 days! Global warming! Thank you Al Gore!

The economic doldrums continued through the winter and the phone didn't ring very much.

It looks like it is tuning warmer, although I know we have one last cold "gotcha" every year after the trees blossom but they are used to it by now. Hey Al Gore; "nanny nanny phu phu!"

The phones are starting to ring again and it appears God is returning to His heaven and all will be right with the world.

Through it all, the glass stayed more than half full. I weigh less now than I did on December 21, the beginning of winter and I have successfully avoided the swine flue, politically correctly called the H1N1 virus. While the economy dealt us a b low and we were knocked to our knees a time or two, it never managed to knock us all the way down and we did get back up every time. Bring it on!

You Can't Please Everybody So You've Got to Please Yourself!

Thursday, March 04, 2010

You Can't Please Everybody So You've Got to Please Yourself! Thisd is the refrain in a song by Rick Nelson in the late '70s lamenting his cold reception at a revival concert. It is also the underlying theme in the bio-pic "Beyond the Sea", the Bobby Darin story. The quote of the day today was from Bill Cosby: "I do not know the formula for success but the formula for failure is to try to please everybody".

No matter how many people you try to please, someone else is going to be displeased and guess who is going to remember your efforts. the person you were trying to please No-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o! The person who is displeased will rfemember your efforts in explicit detail. You Can't Please Everybody So You've Got to Please Yourself!
