Mistakes and Risk

Wednesday, October 03, 2012

When we embrace our mistakes, we embrace living.

To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach out for others is to risk getting involved.
To show your feelings is to expose your humanity.
To place your ideas and dreams before the crowd is to risk their loss.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To hope is to risk pain, and to try is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing has nothing and is nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn, feel, change, grow, live or love.
Chained by his certitudes, or his addiction, hes a slave.
He has forfeited his greatest trait, and that is his individual freedom.
Only the person who risks is free.

Negative Negatives

Tuesday, October 02, 2012

Do not let negative and toxic people rent space in your head. raise the rent and kick them out.

Nothing is but that thinking makes it so.

Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you are usually right.

Don't let what you think you can't do get in the way of what you can do!

Vrooooom Vrooooom - Part Deux

Monday, October 01, 2012

Went to Atlanta Motor Speedway yesterday. My daughters were really impressed when we exited the tunnel and were right in the middle of the racetrack.

NASCAR cars do not have doors, you have to climb in the window like the Dukes of Hazzard. That was an adventure. Anyway, they got me strapped in and off we went. Coming out of the pit you stay down on the flat until you build up some speed and then on the backstretch you are out on the track proper. The banking on the turns makes the majority of the g-force down but you are still getting pushed toward the outside of the turns. As I expected, 180 mph is fast. I was on a ride-along with a driver who knew how to drive. The track was littered with drivers who had paid to drive a car and were poking along at 120-140 mph. Passing them was a rush! Three laps passed pretty quickly, about two minutes but it was marvelous.

A great Fathers' Day present. So much better than a tie.

Vrooooooooom Vrooooooom

Today I cash in the Father's Day present my kids got me back in June. A three lap ride around Atlanta Motor Speedway in a Nascar Race Car. They say it goes about 170-180 mph. That's pretty fast in a jet airplane (take off and landing speed about 150 mph). It has got to be really fast when you are that close to the ground and that close to the outside wall on the race track. Oh well, only time will tell.

The Weekend!

Saturday, September 29, 2012

Ah!

Saturday morning dawns not so bright, sun wise, but extra bright spirit wise.

Youth football all day then an evening before the TV with college football. Tomorrow I get to cash in my father's day present of a ride-along in a NASCAR car at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Exactly how fast is 180 mph when you are on the ground and not in an airplane?

Make This a Great Weekend!
