On Kings and Pawns

Tuesday, August 09, 2011

Once the game is over, the king and the pawn go back in the same box.

- Italian proverb

The different chess pieces have varying amounts of power only because we give them the power. So it is with the things that effect our lives. They only have the power that we allow them to have or give them. Do not let negative attitudes have any power over you. Giove rather the power to positive influences.

Make it a Great Day!

Monday, August 08, 2011

Every morning we make a conscious choice. Will today be terrific or will it be terrible? 5/8 of the decision is already made for you. Both words start out "terri". You on;y have to choose "fic" or "ble" Beware, once you make the choice, that choice stays in place for the WHOLE day.

Choose Terrific and make it a great day

Thoughts on a Hot August Saturday

Saturday, August 06, 2011

It's Saturday. It's August. It's Georgia. It's Hot. That seems a bit redundant. It's always hot in Georgia in August, whether it's Saturday or not.

Summer heat requires planning. Get up early, do the outside stuff that needs to be done while the temperature is still in the 70's. Then a shower, quick breakfast and a mid-morning nap to make up for having gotten up early. It is amazing how good a mid-morning nap feels. I am thinking about adding one to my normal work routine. It is a good thing I work for myself. I do not know many bosses who would let me take a mid-morning nap IN ADDITION TO my afternoon power-nap.

Enjoy the weekend and remember this if nothing else, hydrate, sunscreen and make it a great weekend.

Walking Hand in Hand

Friday, August 05, 2011

Remember, we all stumble, every one of us. That's why it's a comfort to go hand in hand.

- Emily Kimbrough

Do not walk in front of me, I might not follow.
Do not walk behind me, I might not lead.
Walk alongside me and take my hand and we can go anywhere!
