Make Your Own Circumstances!

Sunday, November 21, 2010

The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them.

We tend to forget in today's crazy society, that the little things are what really count. Holding a door open for somebody, letting somebody else get in line ahead of you, or smiling at somebody and saying an unexpected "Hello" are all ways to make this world a better place. I love your blog!

I had to pick up a few things at WalMart today.. The man in back of me was fairly elderly and in a wheel chair... I saw him earlier - checking the prices of things w/ a magnifying glass.. he came to the register w/ only three things - one of them a gallon of milk...

Thinking of random acts of kindness, I asked the cashier to ring his items up on my bill... at first the man said, no, no, no...but then I told him it was my Thanksgiving present to him...and to myself - he was so touched... and I actually felt like I contributed to the world today. I decided to do this at least once a month...just to remind myself that kindnesses need to be shared.

I hope you and your family are doing okay - you've been in my thoughts and prayers.

Just a smile and a thank you makes a big difference. If it's a service person and they don't have a badge with their name, ask their name, and then say "thank you John, I really appreciate your help" with a smile, and watch their face soften.

I love doing something small or unexpected for someone else. The look on their face makes it worth while.

A la famiglia!

Thursday, November 18, 2010

I am numb. The past few days have been a strain. Fortunately, my family held together and held each other up. I just might have the greatest kids in the world. I know I'm prejudiced on this point but I will fight you if you argue with me.
