Stupidness

Thursday, July 07, 2011

I did it again, I messed up our financial budget due to gambling. This time I feel such guilt that it is weighing me down. I messed up my Curves membership too, and am going to have to do this on my own.
So today I dragged myself out of bed and did a WW exercise video, and will do some walking later. I can do this, I can, and I will, bring myself out of this dispair, this black hole I dug.

Jo Anne, get counseling for your gambling. You are not stupid. Gambling is a recognized addiction illness. You have so much to deal with on your own, if there is help available reach out for it.

You may feel guilty because your gambling has caused you and your family financial problems. It is good to recognize this but guilt just makes you more unhappy and more likely to slip again. Guilt solves no problems, so waste no more time with it. Every day is a new day, a new start.

Listen, You are not stupid. You may have done something that you are not happy about, but we have all done something like that. If this is a chronic problem, get help. If you don't have a problem, but just overdid, try to figure out what triggered it so you can stop it before it happens again. Remember, you can choose your own goals and work towards them. It may be rough, but good things are worth fighting for and you deserve to take care of yourself.
I'm here if you need me.

Joanne, what do you think of zumba? I need to get some strength training in, but I just get board doing repetitive moves. Is zumba something to try for strength training or is it mostly cardio? I love walking for cardio and hope to move up to running in the fall when the weather cools down some. Just trying to get some ideas from folks.

Lots of stress :(

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

I'm trying to get through this stress, it has to do with DSS and court matters so it is constant. This past week I've been troubled with Hives due to this stress but yesterday and today are the worst, so I've been using the benedryl to releave it.
Gonna sit this day out too from exercise but will get back to it tomorrow.

hope the stress eases up soon. :( Can you take a gentle walk somewhere (eg not "real" exercise) to get some fresh air and alone time to maybe calm some of those stress responses down? I know that when I'm stressed exercise is the furthest thing from my mind...but it almost always helps if I take a few minutes to decompress.

As it should be . . .

Monday, June 20, 2011

Listening to RadioShine, a christian station, I heard the man say that the places we live are places that GOD has sent us to. Not just for us, but to be blessings to others that are in our neighborhood.
This reminds me of my sister who lives across the street and a couple of houses down, and she was the one who was with me when my son passed away. Her and my oldest son were doing CPR when the paramedics came, and although my son went to Heaven, GOD had put my sister where she needed to be.
For us, we have an elderly neighbor and when he needs help we have been there for him too. I feel so much better knowing that everything is part of GODs plan and that I need to be patient, and prepared.
I thank GOD for letting me be here at Sparkpeople cause you all were here too when I needed you the most. I love you all and pray that you will be blessed emoticon

It was nice reading this today. I live in a difficult place to live (for a young, single, professional person). This town has a sort of dichotomy of sorts: older, retirement sort of people and I'm not sure how to say this...those that may be younger but gravitate heavily towards drugs and alcohol. It's a "smaller" town, in a poor county, with very little career opportunity, the dating pool is murkey at best. I moved here when my mom did four years ago. Prior to, I lived in a big city where the jobs were aplenty, the people were predominately my age and lots of professionals. Don't get me wrong, the city was crime ladden and over come with people and traffic. I like living here now, I feel more of a sense of community. I care more about the people I live amongst, I enjoy running into familiar faces at the grocery store or gas stations, etc and I've been blessed with an amazing job, with a bright outlook for my career, with arguably the best company in the area. Sometimes, however, I wonder if i'm just "settling" here or if I'm truly content. My friends that live elsewhere can't understand why I call this home, and truthfully, on paper, sometimes I don't understand it myself. But, I think it's just that: God put me where I need to be and set me up with everything that I need to flourish. I just need to realize this, stop wondering what else is out there (that's how I used to be, never content always wanting more or different, for the first time, I'm content and I find myself questioning that) and create my life - make my own adventure - find my friends and flourish. Thank you for posting this :)
