Choosing to change

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

I've decided to change small things in my lifestyle that will lead to a healthier me.
1. drink my water, 6+ cups daily
2. eat 2+ fruits and 2+veggies daily
3. exercise 15+ daily (any type)
4. take my medication on schedule, daily
Although these are already being done, I am not always consistant with it, and I must realize that is a life/death neccesity to do it. Mainly because of my diabetes, which is way off track. I do go for my labs in a couple weeks so I will know how i've been doing.

i choose to change bad habits for healthier ones.
1. eating less sugar/carbs
2. finding excuses
3. forgetting meds

My life depends on changing, so I choose to make the most of what I have been given.

I thank my Heavenly Father for all that he has given me.

Great plan, espeically to keep your diabetes under control! I know how hard that can be, but maybe tracking what you eat and what your numbers are will help you see what foods are spiking you! Worked for me!
Good luck at the Dr.

The next steps

Sunday, July 19, 2009

I had a beautiful week with my family and friends, while we attended a really important Native American ceremony. (some info on my facebook site) and I did lots of dancing, and said prayers for the young lady who went thru the ceremony and for my neice who was her attendant. So I do feel like I lost some pounds/ounces, due to the dancing and being out in the hot sun sweating. I know not the best way to exercise but it was neccesary. Now that things are slowed done I am ready for a restful nights sleep.

My food choices were limited, but I did keep a food journal and now I need to input the info into my calorieking program. Oh yes I know I drank about 10+ cups of water a day, so I am sure this will help too.

Tomorrow I do plan on going to Curves in the afternoon, and then to TOPS on Tuesday, I also have an appointment with the doctor on Friday and I again plan to ask about the weightloss surgery, since I found out that my other insurance will cover it.

Oh yes there is another dance/ceremony in a couple of weeks so I need to be prepared for this one too. Well thats about it for me, keep sparking friends and I'll see you lighter

Sounds like a nice, full weekend. You are doing very well with drinking your water, and keeping track of your food is wonderful. I have a problem with that. I try to get on the computer as soon as I'm done eating so I don't forget what I ate. Hope you got a restful sleep and keep sparking.

What God wants me to know......

Sunday, July 12, 2009

Joanne got a message that on this day, God wants her to know...... that faith is exactly what it takes to get through uncertainty.

Faith is not necessary when you know how things are going to work out, - that's knowledge. It's in the time of unknowing that having faith is what sees you through to the other side. Faith is what gives you strength. Faith is that light in your heart that keeps on shining even when it's all darkness outside. Now is the time to keep that faith alive!

This is from one of the programs on Facebook and it is so true, and very much needed for me.

Yes, we must always remember to keep the faith. Also, in that respect we need to keep all three in our hearts and minds at all times. Faith, Hope and Love are all important words to live by.

So true. Sounds like Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." If you can see it, it isn't faith!

It's in those times of uncertainty that we have to Trust God with all our hearts and lean not to our own understanding. That's why it pleases Him because at that point we are relying solely on Him and HE IS FAITHFUL!!!

Thanks for sharing this, Joanne. I've been struggling in the faith department as of late, but I'm trying to keep a positive attitude, so this came just at the right time for me. Peace and blessings, Kita

Needing a break.......not forever

Tuesday, July 07, 2009

Hey Sparkfriends, I am taking a 2 day break from the computer, only because I need to catch up on my reading and time with my family.

Also just so you know I had a really great weigh in today at TOPS, not big but enough. Next Monday's weigh in will be different because I finally got my WW scale and I will be using that for my weigh in's that I post.

So spark friends have a successful week and I'll see lighter.

Weekend plans and stuff

Thursday, July 02, 2009

Not much of anything really, since my daughter has to work tomorrow morning and then volunteered to work the concert concession stand in the evening too (with pay). My Husband is headed out of town to go visit his oldest son who is incarcerated, in a small town near the border. So it's just me, my grandson and foster/neice at home for the next three days. The local casino is hosting the concert and then having fireworks after so maybe will go see that on the hill just across from there.

I've been busy ordering some books from, I guess because I'm getting bored being home, and since all the cleaning is done and only needs touchups during the day. I also have been a little busy the past three days, since one of my sisters has volunteered to be a foster parent for one of our cousins. His little boy "baby Mikey" is only 5 weeks old and is without his momma (she in the mental hospital) and his father is not in the best of situations either, anyway I've been babysitting for my sister. I will probably get to watch him again next Monday as she is off of work for the Holidays now.

I also orderd a new WW scale from Amazon, one that will weigh me, (anything over 330 lbs) So now I just need to get walking as that is my exercise of choice. Oh yes my husband found me a walking stick as it is the only safe way to walk. We live near a creek, and for sure I know there is snakes, skunks, javalinas and other such critters.

Well thats about it for me, You all have a wonderful, safe and blessed Holidays SPARKFRIENDS

Your wild life sounds somewhat like Texas where I grew up. Those critters probably will try to avoid you, just as much as you avoid them. It is the surprise encounters that aren't fun. However, most snakes aren't harmful.

May God bless you!!!

Hi --I really enjoyed your blog today. I went to the Grand Canyon last year and spent two weeks in Arizona. It's so neat to hear from somebody actually lives in that beautiful land. I loved Monument Valley. emoticon
