In a funk

Since I received news that my sister has a brain tumor I have been in a funk. I can't seem to motivate my self to do anything. I have been eating over my calories, not know the drill. Today we learned she will be seeking another opinion but knows she will have to have surgery.

Giving the news to my kids and in-laws, I kept saying thank god she is so healthy otherwise. She works out, eats right...all the things I haven't done for the past 3 days. She has had the healthy lifestyle forever!!!

She didn't have a choice on whether she got a brain tumor, but I DO have the choice for a healthier lifestyle!!

So, instead of crying and being in this funk, I am going to beat her brain tumor out with exercise and good healthy food.

Tomorrow is a new day and I am going to have a new outlook for myself.

    Jody, I am so SORRY to hear of your sister's trial... but I praise God that it IS operable! That is GREAT news as brain tumors go... I will keep her (and you) in my prayers and please keep us posted on how things are going for her. YOU have the right idea. This is HARD for you -- but it's NOT your pitty party. You letting yourself go isn't going to HELP HER one bit! And she may actually need you to be at your BEST at some point! Take care of you, so you will be better able to help her! emoticon

Lazy Day Sunday

I got up this morning and made my oatmeal. I then decided I better go for my walk because today was supposed to turn cold, windy and possible rain.

Left at 10 am for my 45 minute walk. It felt really good to get it out of the way. It is 1pm and the sprinkles have started. If I had not gone for my walk already, I probably would have skipped it.

The rest od the day has just been on the computer. Looking for a good movie to watch then at 5pm it is SHARKS!!!

So I am enjoying the lazy day Sunday.

    Sounds like nice Sunday. By the time we got home from lunch it was raining here -- real hard. So, I've been doing stuff inside. Floor work, hula hoop, etc. Miss my walking tho.

    I've had grandbaby boy today - so it's been anything but lazy! But I DID get a 50 minute walk in, pushing the stroller! It wasn't 15 minute miles... but maybe 20... I wasn't just strollin' - but I wasn't running him either!

What in the WORLD is SHARKS? (I'm sorry... I'm TV illiterate...) ENJOY though! Whatever it is! emoticon

Successful Crockpot Meals

This week I tried 3 different crockpot meals and all three were successes.

Tuesday was the Crockpot Spicy Roast. Served this with brown rice and veggies. Will be making burritos with the leftovers of this one.

Yesterday I made the Crockpot Cheesy Chicken. I had to run some errands at the mall but my SO and his friend said it was really good. This one was definitely a keeper.

I guess I'll have to find some new recipes for next week. Gotta keep track of the healthy eating along with the fitness Sparkrecipes here I come!!

Weekly Meal Planning.

Today I went through the sparkrecipes and found some crockpot ones I am going to try.

Today was the Slow Cooker Salsa Chicken. I made this one quite a while ago and made it again today. My kids loved it. I even forgot to add the sour cream...but they didn't know that. I served this with brown rice and steamed broccoli. I had a large glass of skim milk and the whole meal was only 573 calories.

Tomorrow will be a pot roast recipe for the crock pot. I'll let know how it turns out.

    Mmmm...sounds good! I need to try more spark recipes from here on spark and start using the crockpot as summer nears and my time indoors is limited. Let us know how the pot roast is! emoticon

  Love anything that can be made in the crockpot. I think I need to better plan a full weeks meals rather than buy my ingredients and then plan and cook as I go. I really am cooking more for my husband, but he needs to lose also.

A new beginning

Recently (about 1 year) I have fallen off the wagon of exercise. Thank goodness I have at least kept up for the most part of eating healthy. I have maintained the initial weight loss of 25 pounds.

Today is a new beginning. I have joined a team for a 5% weight loss starting today and ending on April 16th. I am determined to achieve this goal and hopefully exceed it!

My son is planning a wedding on June 11th and I want to feel great on this particular day. I want to be proud of the way I look and feel. My future daughter-in-law is going to do this challenge with me. She gave birth to my first grandchild on 10-10-10. So, we are in this adventure together.

My plan of action is:
Cook healthy dinners - taking leftovers for lunch.
Eat a healthy breakfast.
Strength train Mon. Wed. and Fri for at least 15 minutes.
Take a walk either outside or on the treadmill 3 days a week for 30 minutes.
Try a new exercise 2 days a week.

With this plan, I will achieve my goal!!!

    Jody, Sounds like a great plan! You've done great thus far and if you keep it up, you will certainly reach your goals! Looking forward to a great round with the A-Team! I overcook so I can bring leftovers for lunch too! It makes life much easier than scrambling in the morning!!
