Learning

Thursday, November 27, 2014

It has taken me 66years, but I have finally learned that people don't want to hear a negative opinion about something they are passionate about. I have learned to agree with people when they are enthusiastic about things even when I don't necessarily agree with them. I have learned to be positive about things which often makes them turn positive. I have learned not to ruin other's excitement for the sake of having the last word. I have learned to be a better person. For this I am extremely thankful, today and everyday forward.

Better and better

Thursday, April 17, 2014

Today is my birthday and I have kept off the 70 lbs and I feel better about myself everyday. I am happy to be slimmer, alcohol free, tobacco free and evidently on my way to sainthood. Just kidding. Thank you all for your support.

Return to Standard Time

Sunday, November 04, 2012

I have been reading numerous entries in numerous blogs and other articles about how depressed people get with a return to Standard Time. I, on the other hand, love, love, love the return to the dark nights and gorgeous early mornings. The cool weather is so welcome after the intense heat of a drought burdened summer and my cat and I revel in the electric blanket at night.

I really think the people who complain the most are those who forget to change their clocks. As was pointed out to me by a coworker, with cell phones and computers there is no excuse for missing the change.

There is about two minutes less daylight today than there were yesterday. We are just calling them by a different name. What's in a name, would not 5:00 still be early of we called it 7:00? (Apologies to William Shakespeare)

Make Today a Great Day!

I don't like it being dark when I head out to the barn to ride but it happens every year and every year I feel this way, then get over it and go. I do love the fuzzy blankets & heated up bed at night though!

Personal Trainer

Monday, August 06, 2012

I had my meeting with the personal trainer today. What a major and total waste of time. She spent a whole bunch of time measuring me and telling me what was wrong with me. ...apparently everything. She wrapped it up by informing me that in six sessions she could correct everything - for $372. Needless to say we parted company. If I am such a total mess, then 6 one hour sessions aren't going to cut it. I will continue the stationary bike, but I don't know much about the weight training. More to come. I won't quit.

Exercise

Monday, August 06, 2012

Exercise is my absolute bete noir, so I joined Defined Fitness Gym and today I meet with a trainer. I have gone three times, so far, and just done the stationary bike, but it does seem to make a difference. Let's see what this evening brings.

Small progressive steps are the key. I had three restarts with gym time before I really got in the swing of it. I loved to put in 20 minutes on a treadmill then hit the weight machines twice though. I loved to see my endurance and speed on the treadmill grow each week.
