Picking Up and Dusting off

Well I have had a couplerough days and the scale was not kind. That depressed me and added to my eating because I was upset. After kicking my self when I looked at the scale I decided that it was time to Pick myself up and dust off the negative that I had been wallowing in. I had a very good healthy meal lat night. Homemade Ham and bean soup. i love to cook so making my own helps keep me on track. I am back to my steel cut oatmeal in the am and working out just before lunch. I have already seen a little encouragement from the scale. So I am Picking up and Dusting off today!

Inch by inch

I am doing my best to stay away from the scale and weigh once a week. The scale is not moving like I would like but my measurements are doing better. I notice the more intensely I do cardio work outs the fast the inches come off. But too much cardio and other excerise does nothing but bring the needle down or the inches drop off, instead it makes the needle stall or go up and the inches stall. I refuse to be discouraged by this I will just go back to 4 days Cardio and strength every other day. I refuse to give up hope on myself. Inch by inch it is a sinch mile by mile is just too hard!

I am one of those people who would love to put off all the housework and cleaning. I do it but I am always hoping that I will wake up one morning and find that Merry Maids or little elves came and cleaned while I slept....I found this today here at Sparkpeople. this url is a wonderful motivator to clean as well as lose weight.

    Fun! I just gave advice to someone to try brushing their teeth when a really bad craving comes on...I didn't know I was also giving good exercise advice.

On housework, doing the floor by hand the Cinderella way...doing the laundry by taking each piece of clothing down the stairs (in our home the washed is down), washing windows - great lateral abdominal work out. I can't remember where I read it but basically to get more exercise think "how could I do this LESS efficiently?" It works on everything from where to park to housework to walking around the block (zigzag LOL)

    I'm with you-cleaning is not my favorite but I ALWAYS count it as exercise the day I do it. It is a lot of work! Good attitude!

Well so far it is 3 days into this again and I have managed to find the time for me and to workout. I lived through 45 minutes on the treadmill on Sunday. I took it in blocks of 15 mins at a time. I used to tell people when they found out about my cancer that I took things one day at a time or if I needed to one hour or one minute at a time. I have just applied this to my workouts and my health and it seems to work.

Chicken Salad

Canned Chicken
10 Minutes to Prepare and Cook


1 can of Swanson's White Chicken Breast
3 Eggs (boiled)
1/2 Cup Miracle Whip Light
1/4 Cup Pickles (chopped)
1/4 Cup Onions (chopped)

Drain chicken. Boil eggs. Chop up pickles and onions. Add Miracle Whip. Mix well.
Makes 6-8 servings
