One day off roading...it is OK...

You did the right thing...you grabbed the steering wheel and got right back on the road to the journey...

Pretty eventful day...a blow-out and journeying off the path...way to recover from "LIFE HAPPENS!"

ankle saga

Saturday, May 08, 2010

so I started workout this morning...13 minutes in I stepped on my left foot and my ankle gave out. It's been tender all week from the race last weekend.

I wasn't able to finish my workout today...what a disappointment that was!

Tomorrow is a new day

Sounds like that ankle would like a little more time to heal. Maybe just do the elliptical or bike.

Remember Warrior...this is a JOURNEY...NOT a RACE!!!

sore ankle

Tuesday, May 04, 2010

I must have rolled my ankle or something during the Warrior Dash...it's very sore today and I wasn't able to work out as hard as I wanted this morning.

I'll get over it.....with the help of a little ice.

The terrain out there almost seemed designed for ankle rolling. Hope you're back to 100% sooner than later.

Just take it easy for a day or two or some easy upper body strength exercises.

Warrior Dash Review

Monday, May 03, 2010

Well, I've been talking about it for months, and it only took 36 minutes to complete the 3.5 hellish miles!!

WHAT a great time though.

The race was called the warrior dash (Http://warriordash.com), it's 3.5 miles, with a few obstacles along the way. I ran with a buddy from work, here is our before pic:

I ran through a wind tunnel(actually an airboat blowing in our face)
thigh deep mud hole followed by 20yards of slick mud
over the river on a plank
ran through the thick trees
slide down a mudslide into the river, literally a slide of mud
ran down the river(ankle to thigh deep, slick)
climbed out of the river via muddy slick bank, followed by 30-40 yards of slick mud
into another deep mud hole(fell in this one) another 20yds of slick mud
climbed up the cargo net
down the cargo net
jumped into the lake(chest deep)
crawled OVER 4 floating logs that were IN the lake
swam about 50 yards across lake(still chest deep)
another mud slick about 20yards long
climbed OVER the large wooden spool
climber over the pile of hay bales
jumped over two fires
crawled under the barbed wire in the mud
......to the finish line.

Here is the post race photo:

WHEW.....talk about a great time!!!

The venue was Cousinís Paintball in Forney Texas. RedFrog Events is the company that puts this on and they did it right. Very well ran, very well organized, thought of everything from a Ďgear checkí to check in, ATMís on site, lots and lots of pottyís, axe throwing, rocking throwing(warrior stuff), tent to purchase items, etc. Very large area that had plenty of room for vendors, huge stage with a band playing all day, beer, turkey legs, etc!!

I WILL run this race again next year, that you can count on.

Hi there! I found your blog by searching "warrior dash" on the homepage. I've just discovered these and I really want to do one, dreaming of this summer but maybe next year. I was just wondering if you had any training tips? i've never run before but that is something i'm starting within the next few weeks. I am going to do the C25k program. If you have any advice i would really appreciate it! Congrats on the race by the way!

I was expecting it to be a long race but 36 minutes of intense stuff like that would have probably done me in anyway, lol!!!

Great job on getting out there (your friend too)...the after picture proves it was a great time!!!
