Sprain

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

what I've done to my ankle.....

What Is It?
A sprain is a tear of ligaments, the tough bands of fibrous tissue that connect bones to one another at a joint. Normally, ligaments stabilize a joint and keep the joint tight. They also help to keep the joint's bones aligned and limit the motion of a joint to the normal range. When a joint is sprained, its torn or stretched ligaments can lose part or all of their ability to reinforce the joint and to keep it operating normally. In severe cases, the sprained joint can become unstable and loose, bones can move out of alignment and the joint may extend beyond its the normal range of motion.

Did you talk to your doctor about a brace or a wrap?

KidSwing Fundraiser

Sunday, May 09, 2010

HI Everybody,

I certainly hope everybody is kicking back enjoying this Mother's Day!

I am hoping that you will allow me take a minute of your time on behalf of my daughter Emily. As most of you know, Emily is a very active, intelligent, and athletic young lady with a heart of gold! She currently spends 14-18 hours a week training at the gymnastics gym (M, T, TH, F, every other Sat) and still maintains very high 90's on all of her grades. You may not know that she is becoming an avid golfer too. This new passion is in part because of a golf tournament that she entered two years ago to help raise money for Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. This hospital is near and dear to Emily's heart as she has been a patient since she was two years old. TSRHC is a non profit hospital dedicated to Pediatric Orthopedic conditions. Below is a note from that Emily wrote asking for your help:

Dear Friends & Family,

Thank all of you for supporting me in KidSwing for 2 years now. I hope you continue this year. My 2010 goal is $5000. This year I'm not just playing in the tournament, I'm also helping, because I am a member of the Jr. Committee.

This year's tournament is very special because it represents the last year for Ben Sater to participate. He is the young man who founded KidSwing when he was 11. Now he is a Senior in high school. His dream is to raise $1 million by the time he turns 18 and he only needs to raise $180,000 to do it. This year I have a Great team to play with me in KidSwing and enjoy the fun with me. The player's names are Lindsey, and Stirling.

I would be honored if you could sponsor and help me in the tournament.

Thanks,

Emily Merlau

Emily has also put together a short video with more information about KidSwing:

There are several ways you can donate to her:
1. http://www.active.com/donate/KidSwing2010/
dallasEMerlau
2. mail a check to our home payable to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital with KidSwing in the memo of the check

For more about the tournament itself, use this link: http://kidswing.org

For more about Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, use this link: http://tsrhc.org

Please feel free to forward this mesage on, post to your FB, whatever we can do to help Emily reach her goal would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

Jerome

Mother's Day

Sunday, May 09, 2010

very good day around here.

I started the day with some Elliptical work, 53 minutes to be exact. That didn't hurt the ankle too much so I just keep going.

Church service was very nice today too, lots of young mothers!

I've spend the afternoon gearing up for Emily's fund raiser for KidSwing, I'm sure you'll be hearing MORE about that soon!

Cooking dinner right now, turkey and roasted potatoes!!

Next weekend is our REAL Mother's day....more on that later.

One day off roading...it is OK...

You did the right thing...you grabbed the steering wheel and got right back on the road to the journey...

Pretty eventful day...a blow-out and journeying off the path...way to recover from "LIFE HAPPENS!"

ankle saga

Saturday, May 08, 2010

so I started workout this morning...13 minutes in I stepped on my left foot and my ankle gave out. It's been tender all week from the race last weekend.

I wasn't able to finish my workout today...what a disappointment that was!

Tomorrow is a new day

Sounds like that ankle would like a little more time to heal. Maybe just do the elliptical or bike.
