Well, here I am...a year older now and yet I feel younger still. I look 20 years younger, thats forsure. LOL

Insanity is going well, I continue to push myself ALOT every single workout. Many times I'm onthe floor dripping with sweat and gasping for breath at the end of each interval session, great stuff I say.

Introducing the new Jerome - on my Birthday

This has been quite the journey for me!!
When I started this journey on December 28th, 2009 I looked like this:

Scary huh!! I see a person who got really lazy, had no energy, wasnít helpful around the house, ate and ate and ate, obese man who did zero exercise and needed to change something.
I made up my mind that I was going to get healthy again, what did that mean, I wasnít sure at the time. My first objective was to drop weight and feel better!! I randomly said I would drop 64lbs to get myself to 200lbs. Why 200, like I said, it was random. I felt like that was a number I could obtain over the course of the calendar year for 2010. I joined SparkPeople because a friend at work used it, I thought it would help me too. Then I started walking, a lot. During the month of January, I walked 3-5miles a day easily. I woke at 5am to get my first 3 miles for the day. I started tracking every calorie I ate, I started drinking water like crazy. Before I knew it, I was 10lbs lighter. WOW, that wasnít bad I thought. I started paying very close attention to how much I ate. Notice I said how much I ate. I still ate what I wanted, I just moderated how much of it I ate. I started getting a craving to do more and more to regain my health. When February came around, I had some friends give me an elliptical machine for the garage. I got up at 5am and worked as hard as possible for 45 minutes typically. I was burning calories left and right and I was loving it. I was also doing three or four walks during the day at work, as well as working out when I got home from work. All in all I was averaging around 100 minutes of fitness a day, even on the weekends. Being consistent was my key, consistency with my calorie counting as well as working out! By the end of February I had dropped nearly 40lbs. I couldnít believe it was falling off my body so Ďeasilyí.
March came around and I kicked it up another notch. I worked even harder, pushing myself more and more all the time. Started working out with a trainer (along with my wife) on Saturday morning and by the time the end of March came around, Iíd dropped around 50lbs. By now Iím getting a lot of comments that something is different about me, which was cool! By now my wife is fully on board with my journey and a lot of the workout Iím doing is side by side with her, thatís been great!! The more I lost, the hungrier I got to drop more, so I worked even harder. I travelled several weekends during March and still managed to drop weight every weekend except one, not bad for being on the road. While on the road, I ran on the treadmill at the hotels, typically 2.5 miles or so twice a day. When April rolled around I was getting closer and closer to my original year end goals. I could taste them I was so close. We (wife and I) started doing Insanity in the garage every morning at 5am. That program is insane and burns a great deal of calories each workout. I also kept up the second workout after work pushing myself even harder to sweat it out.

108 days after I started this journey, I look like this:

I now see a man who has more energy, helps out at home more, cares about what he and his family eats, has a much clearer head.

I am proud to say that I have lost 63.2 lbs, I now weigh only 201.2 and I feel like a new man.

What's next??? 190 here I come!!! I'm not done yet, I'm still working hard and I love it!!

    Hey Skinny I love it, you will be under 200 in less then a week. But let me warn you, reaching a goal is a dangerous thing. Remember you are to be under 200 by the end of the year, now you must maintain the loss or take off another 10 if you want to. Your an inspiration, Happy Birthday Old Man!

Insanity Week 1 review

This program is so insanely crazy with cardio it's not even funny. I can feel myself getting stronger with every day too. I pushed futher during Saturday's workout then I had all week, which is great.

I burned between 500 and 800 calories for each workout Monday - Saturday. The least I burned was 500, that was on a cardio recover day, all we did was yoga!!

I bought a new Sportsline watch to monitor my heart rate and count my calories that way, so far it's worked out great.

I will start the second week of workouts on Monday morning and I'm ready!!!

I have a minor goal of dropping 3 lbs this week by 4-15-2010, this is my birthday. I would like drop these three lbs which would get me to an even 60lbs loss and OUT of the obese range(I think).

Going Insane day 3

Wednesday, April 07, 2010 was tough, I worked hard, but only managed to burn just over 500 calories for the 40 minute workout. Not sure what to think about that.....i guess I need to work harder, push myself more and as Shawn T says...DIG DEEPER!!

    I would take 500 in 40. Look at when you do the workout to change. If you do it when your body expects rest, you should get better results.

    you have lost over 50 pounds so the workouts no longer have you carrying those pounds, so dont forget, its harder to burn cals since you have burned pounds
