Starting over Day 8

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

AAAAHHHHHHH!!!! The scale moves consistently each week...IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. Had I not been up 6 lbs last week this wouldn't be so back, but up again this week by .6 lb. And all my measurements are up... I think my body has given up on me and I have given up on my body! I just don't know what to do for myself. If it wasn't for school and walking around campus I wouldn't be getting any exercise in. I am eating all the wrong things. I am worse than when I started a year ago. A bit depressing I have to say...

On a lighter note, I decided to get rid of the electric fireplace in my living room and get my moms extra treadmill. So my tiny living room will continue to serve as my office and now my gym. Hopefully I can get somewhere with that...

Well hope everyone has a good day! emoticon

I know it doesn't seem like it but a 0.6 gain is much much better than another 6 lb gain. In other words your gain was a lot less than the week before so it's a tiny step in the right direction. Just to try and do 'one' thing at a time and then build on each success. Hang in there.

I think this "lack of motivation" is going around more vigorously than the flu these days! I know you will succeed, you have always been very determined and accomplish an amazing amount in any given day.
Something from "Weight of the Nation" (on HBO): fitness isn't so great at helping lose weight, but it's essential to keeping weight off - so trading the fireplace for the treadmill sounds like a great plan.

Two questions...and i don't mean them negatively but

Why are you eating all the wrong foods? i usually find i dig in to the wrong foods when i am stressed about something or when i haven't bought the proper foods, whats your story on that? Can you get back on track?

So what's your plan? You know things aren't great, so what are you going to do to change it? I have a terrible time looking at the scale going the wrong way and have to exercise and eat properly when I see that happening. If you are tired, give yourself permission to have a break. If you just need to dig deeper you know you can, you've done it before.

Being at school and taking care of the family is tough. When I was working full time, doing my Masters and being dad/husband I was overwhelmed. Fitness was the last thing on my mind and that was when my weight ballooned. You are trying to keep on top of so many things. You are doing much better than I did when I was going through school.

The one thing I have noticed, you were doing great for such a long time when you were keeping your fitness minutes up. I remember watching your success on the Teddy Bear team, seeing the great fitness minutes you were putting up and i decided to try to keep up with you. I was impressed with your successes and wanted to keep up to you in fitness minutes. Your determination was inspiring. I know you can do this again, and you will.

I've been there... One thing that helps me with water weight is getting out my juicer. Heavy on the vegetables, seems to flush me out in a day or two.

The treadmill will help you a lot - as long as you actually use it. My poor treadmill sits alone and abandoned collecting dust so it's not doing me a bit of good. I do think though that if moving it upstairs to the living room were possible I'd use it almost every day.

Keep track of your "vitals" for your next Dr. visit, make sure you're drinking your water, and keep trying to make good choices more often than bad ones. I'm not in a place to give advice, but this isn't really advice from me it's more like advice I'm trying to follow too.

Okay stop right now! Walk over to the mirror.....look in it....you are human, you will have bumps in the road and maintaining weight lose is harder than actually losing it. Pick a day and make it your NEW START DAY. Start with small goals again as you did on the beginning.....Are you drinking your water? It sounds alot like water weight as you would have to eat 3500 calories a day for 7 days to gain 1 lb of fat.

Happy new FIRST DAY! Track food and drink water

Starting over Days 6 & 7

Hola Todos! ¿Cómo Estás?

Hope everyone is doing well. I am exhausted already. One thing this weekend that was awesome was that I finally found the serial number to my Dragon Naturally speaking dictation software and was able to load it on my new computer. It cut my time in half writing all those papers this weekend. And my wrist isn't killing me :)

I did really well on my Spanish exam...93.8 woo hoo

I have my first exam on Thursday so I will be studying for that this week. Plus my DAILY studying of Spanish, and writing my summaries for accounting. Can't wait to get that done like I normally do on the weekend becuase this weekend will be full of fun. Kids have no school on Friday so can get a lot of stuff done after my class and my dr appt that day. Saturday we are taking the kids to the pumpkin/apple orchard, and my cousin and I have having a moms day with the kids and taking them to the Toledo Zoo for the pumpkin walk. So gotta have all my cleaning and homework done by Saturday.

I have been meeting my 30 min goal of fitness each day but that consists daily of 20 min walk around campus, 5 minutes up and down too many stairs (lol) and a nice stretch when I get home. I would like to start incorporating more in there...a 10 min video, MY ST!!!...

Hoping no more weight increases this week. Going to the dr on Friday to discuss possible hypglycemia and why I have these symptoms of shakiness and nausea all the time, my headaches, sleep issues, get a flu shot and going to add in the sudden wieght increase since I started the pill. I am so bad at taking it...I miss so many days, I don't know how that will affect the way it is supposed to work. Thank God I do not use it for birth control lol

Went to Mcdonalds again yesterday, I have noticed that we have been going out to eat more lately which is also to blame. I know I didn't gain the weight just from calories, it has to be combination of everything, the pill, stress, poor eating and working out...Why is it so hard for me to get back on track??? I can't wait til next semester when I slow down on classes!

Ok enough of my boo mee...Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

I would suggest taking the pill the same time everyday so you don't forget. I take mine every night when I brush my teeth. Since that's something I do every night and a regular basis as I do that I remember to take my pill. Try to make things as easy as you can for yourself and you'll succeed.

I think stress the pill and not enough rest played havoc on your system. Hopefully the doctor will provide you with answers. Hang in there!

I love the Dragon dictation software! I would use it on my phone at my last job to document my visits with the kids on my caseload, then when I got back to town I could email it to myself and copy and paste it into our database! How nice to use it for school.

JUSTME29 10/16/2012 8:48AM

Not taking the pill as scheduled will totally mess with the way it works, even if it's not for birth control. If I miss a day I can absolutely feel it the next day - I get bloated and crampy. Or I suppose that could be symptoms of doubling up as the directions tell you to do if you miss. Still, worth asking.

McDonald's has some decent options on the menu - check out their website so you'll have some choices made ahead of time. I have "go to" meals at or under 500 calories at all the fast food places around here. Whether I actually order that meal is another issue.

I hope your semester settles in soon.

I think the pill, added hormones, cam mess with your body. And, stress can definitely add to mix. Hopefully, the doctor can shed some light on what is going on.

Hugs!

Starting over days 4 & 5

Sunday, October 14, 2012

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Yesterday me and DH spent the afternoon watching college football and the Walking Dead marathon (which is awesome). I got half my homework done yesterday and have 2 more assignments to finish up today then going to get the kitchen cleaned and relax the rest of the afternoon. No exercise yesterday will try for some today. I will probably incorporate it with my cleaning.

Have a great Sunday....GO LIONS!

DAy 2 and 3 of Starting Over

Friday, October 12, 2012

Opps forgot to blog yesterday...

Yesterday I met my food tracking goal, I did track but went over my calories. We were running around all day yesterday and I was talked into Mcdonalds. Got a chicken sandwich and small fries but still tons of calories! Will just has to stay on the low end of my calories today : )

Disappointed was planning to finsih taking down the pool and now it is going to rain this weekend. But I have way too much homework to do to keep me busy...Long weekend ahead of me!

Have a test in spanish again today. Not to worried about it. Kids are going to Grammy's for a halloween party that my mom is having for them. She went all out and decorated her basement really cute.

Need to work on my core and cardio today...Hope to fit both in today instead of just one :)

Have a great Friday EVERYONE!

Starting over Day 1

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

Since I pretty much broke my streak today I am starting over again. Back the beginning, back to the basics. No more eating out, tracking my food daily, getting my REAL workouts in, not just campus walks. I have done it before, I know I can do it. But easier said than done. But today my goal is to track ALL my food!

1 day, 1 goal at a time

It sounds to me like you are your own worst enemy. You are running yourself ragged, and probably it is "stress" eating. Sit back, take a deep breath, and try to put everything into perspective !!
Remember, you need to take care of yourself before you can take care of others.
Be happy, relax, and feel better.

I saw your "in need of support" comment on the huddle page. Up 6 pounds from last week? Ouch. But don't let it discourage you. Let it teach you. Track your food. Drink that water!! Flush your system out!! Make good food choices! Do you have "go-to's" that you depend on and are they available? Oatmeal and cherrios (not togehter! ) are stand-bys for me. Apples and pears, baby carrots, winter squash, and salad greens. You can do this...you WANT to do this!! Remember your goals!!

When I first started out on here, someone gave me some good advice: you don't have to wait until tomorrow if you mess up. Make your next meal a healthy one, you can even make your next bite a healthy one.

I know it is always nice to start fresh the next day; but if you find yourself slipping up in the beginning or middle of the day, don't think of the whole day as a loss. Take steps to make your next action work towards your goals.

Thank you to the sparkfriend that first told me this.
