Happy Friday...Get Dr Appt

Friday, May 04, 2012

The dr was so happy with me. Since I seen her last I lost 11 lbs (even with the 2 I gained back this week). She loves my new healthy lifestyle and is so proud of me. (She is a wonderful dr!!) Regarding me knee, as soon as I started to explain she knew (she had the same thing on her left knee). She started explaining it more and I found out that this is what makes my right hip sometimes feel like it is out of place and my lower back pain on the right side. It is Chondromalacia Patella or in other words "Runners Knee". It is common in young women who overuse their knee and have a weak core (which I am working on) who just had babies and so on...I have to go to PT 3 times a week for 6 weeks. It is time consuming but I am going to do it (I never went to PT when I broke me elbow b/c of school). I have time this summer so I am going to get it taking care so I won't end up needing surgery. I can keep up with my workouts and she told me to keep on my yoga and pilates. I am not that good at those but I try and will continue...After all practive makes perfect, RIGHT!!?? The rest of my physical went great!

I decided since I haven't had my day off yet this week I am going to set back and relax with the pup. Catch up on Dancing with the Stars and Betty Whites Off their Rockers (I LOVE BETTY WHITE!!). Got caught up with the Voice last night. Then This weekend me and DH will catch up on Celebrity Apprentice. We both love that show!!!

I was looking for inspiration this morning and came across this poem:

Lessons of Failure
by: Author Unknown, Source Unknown

Lord, are you trying to tell me something?

Failure does not mean I'm a failure;
It does mean I have not yet succeeded.

Failure does not mean I have accomplished nothing;
It does mean I have learned something.

Failure does not mean I have been a fool;
It does mean I had enough faith to experiment.

Failure does not mean I have disgraced;
It does mean I have dared to try.

Failure does not mean I don't have it;
It does mean I have something to do in a different way.

Failure does not mean I am inferior;
It does mean I am not perfect.

Failure does not mean I have wasted my life;
It does mean that I have an excuse to start over.

Failure does not mean that I should give up;
It does mean that I should try harder.

Failure does not mean that I will never make it;
It does mean that I need more practice.

Failure does not mean that you have abandoned me;
It does mean that you must have a better idea

I printed it off and it is on my wall next to my computer by my list of goals!

Have a good Friday everyone!!

    I love Betty White too. She's hilarious.
I had the same type of knee issue after I had my second. I went to physio and it is much better now. Sometimes these days it's been hurting a bit but nowhere near at that time.
Good luck with physio.
I like your poem on failure. Really no one is perfect. We are all trying to do what we can. emoticon emoticon

A New day

Thursday, May 03, 2012

Thanks to all my wonderful friends for all the support and encouragement from yesterday! It was a hard day for me. Even though I was expecting the gain from TOM, I think my PMS took over. But I was good. Stayed in the low side of my calorie range, I even made a recipe out of the SP cookbook--Cornish Hens with Apple Pecan stuffing. Had to leave out the pecans though, they are made on the same equipment as peanuts. Bubbie is allergic to peanuts, didn't want to take that change. It was good. I liked making the hens but when I do make this again, I want to use a different stuffing. I didn't let my attitude spoil me nutrionally and got 107 fitness minutes in.

I just got back from taking my lil one a bike ride. Which was interesting. Very hot and muggy. Didn't realize there was that big of a hill at the end of the street where we walk. I sure noticed it on the bike though, lol!

Got some storms rolling in tonight. When I pick Evie up from school, taking them straight to Grammy & Papaws for the weekend. There is a 3 day weekend plus she doesn't have dance. Her class was cancelled but mine wasn't so I am going to go. Not going to slack on that! Tomorrow is my dr's appt. Going to see about my knee and wrists.

This link was sent to me by a friend and I want to share it with everyone! It is very heart warming!!!

Yesterdays workout was just one of my spring cleaning projects (which I am still in the middle of) and 30 Day Shred Level 1 day 2. I am taking a break from the 30 day Shred today. A little sore.

    Jennifer, you are one of the most detailed peeps I know... emoticon. What a difference a day makes...right?

I made the SP Cornish Hens w/stuffing last month. I substituted a chicken (cheaper) and made a couple of changes in the stuffing (baked it on the side & not in the bird). DH & I loved it...will make it again.

Stay safe with the kiddos...glad your going to Grammy & Pawpaws. I used to live in New Mexico & Louisiana...I know those storms are nothing to mess around with. Much better to be safe than sorry.

emoticon on those fitness minutes, especially with TOM visiting. I don't want to brag (yes I do...lol), but I just found out that I am all the way through Menopause. So not only have I gotten rid of that pesky visitor TOM the past several years, but MEN has finally paused also! lol. I used to always make excuses for Not exercising when TOM would visit...good for you in going right ahead & not letting him hinder you!

Can't take this yo yo crap any more. I rather be at a halt at the same weight than keep going up and down and up and down! TOM is right around the corner so I was dreading this...feeling a lil bloated. But I can't always blame that! Is it me or TOM??? All this hard work for this! I will never meet my goals like this!

I am done ranting for a moment, I will blog a better blog later!

    Just keep to healthy habits and the scale will eventually have to move in the right direction. I just read an article yesterday about one of the stars on "Dancing with the Stars". She said she has actually gained 5 pounds since she started this season, but has lost two dress sizes. It can be muscle that you are developing, so just hang in there.

    It's almost a shame we have to weight in weekly for our SparkTeams . . . but more important that we remain relatively consistent with variations. Use the life-long knowledge we gain to improve our workouts (vary, intervals, etc) and food (what helps various shapes more than others, and a whole host of other suggestions that we have to learn how to discern properly for our own goals -- I tend to enjoy Sparkpeople, Dr Oz, Weight Watchers and a few other resources). May it come together for you with a big success (and hopefully soon) you can measure at either the scale, measuring tape, or other non scale victory.

    Probably due to Aunt Flo, but make sure you are accurately tracking & measuring. Sometimes our portions are actually larger than we think if we are just guessing. As suggested, drink your water. Try ice water through a straw. It helps me to drink more and the ice water is suppose to help with metabolism (body has to use calories to warm it up.) Try to stay away from the scale, but keep doing all the right things. I too have been up & down. I can see a pattern and the ups and downs are the plateau, and then it drops again. I can see this on my weight tracker. I was going to go back and try to figure out what I did differently, since April 8th, but I think it is just part of the process. Also if you have been doing the same routine, it might be time to shake it up a bit :) Just keep on keeping on. Weight loss and the human body are so complex and I am certain that many times I have been on the verge of success but so aggravated with lack of visible progress, that I just gave up. You just have to accept it is part of the process and push through it. The prize will be worth it :)

    If its TOM of the month (and I this is hard) how about dieting for the next couple of weeks and avoiding the scale? It might make it easier to stick to the diet because you won't see it go back up. I'm having the same problem myself and if its being a problem on weigh on Friday I'm going to hide it until June 1st for my weigh in.

    Oh, I feel your frustration! I have the same problem with that darn scale! I know in my head that it is only one measurement of my efforts, but for some reason it becomes what I focus on. My body very stubbornly plateaus and then I fluctuate 2-3 lbs up or down for a LONG time, but I just keep doing the best I can, tweaking things here and there (mixing up the exercise routine, lower carb, more protein, etc) and all of a sudden, the scale moves down a bit and I am at my next "plateau. You are doing a great job with your workouts/tracking and that scale will eventually catch up with all your efforts! Have you taken measurements at all? I don't measure regularly, but I have measurements from the first of the year and was quite surprised with how many inches I am down since then even though the pounds lost isn't huge. Keep up all your hard work!

Day 1 30 Day Shred, New Goals, & a dentist appt

Tuesday, May 01, 2012

Took kids to dentist. LOVE this new dentist. Turns out Evelyn does NOT have a cavaty. Bubbie goes for his fillings next week. Found out the reason he has several front teeth decaying...It happens in eutoro and it is probably heredity. I loved how they explained this before and after. The are all so nice. Talked to both hygenists and dentist. So I am happy. Really disappointed in the old dentist. They wanted Evie to come the next day after their cleaning back in April when they told me she had a cavaty. They would have filled her tooth and she didn't need it. It just has a little "dimple" but it doesn't stem into the tooth. I also took Bubbie back when he was about 1 because I noticed he looked to be getting an extra tooth up top. They so no, just grew fast than the other side...Well he does. I knew it. I counted it and they still told me I was wrong. So glad I decided to go to another dentist!

After we got back I got that disaster of a kitchen cleaned and a bunch of laundry. But I still have a ton more laundry to go...

emoticon of the 30 day Shred. OMG that was a workout. I couldn't believe it. It was very hard for me to do the lunges b/c of my knee and the push ups since my elbow is still a little week. But I will keep practicing and hopefully get up there!

My mom and aunt decided to have a family reunion this June (23rd). First since 1992. So with this, the 30 day shred, and the BLC I decided to update my goals...AGAIN

Goals as of May 1, 2012

• Reward myself for reaching my goals
• Stay Motivated
• Take some time for ME
• Take a bath, read a book, watch a movie
• PLAY with the kids/dog
• Learn to reduce stress
• Don’t beat myself up when I don’t reach a goal

Weight Loss
• Lose 3lbs by May 12, 2012
• I need to loose 8lbs by then to achieve my spring 5% goal but this is a little too
much so my new goal is 3lbs.
• Lose 14lbs by June 23, 2012
• This includes the 3lbs above
• Lose 30.8lbs by Aug 16, 2012 (my bday)
• To be my goal weight (120) by my 29th bday

Fitness Program
• Zumba Class on Saturdays
• If no class then aerobic dancing at home 60 min
• Strength Training 6 days per week
• M-Lower body, T-Upper body, W-Core, Th-Lower Body, F-Upper body,
• 30 Day Shred 6 days per week (Began May 1, 2012)
• Day 1-10 Level 1
 Once I am done with level 1 I want to be able to keep up with Jillian and
do a pushup and a lunge!!! It is very hard with my knee, and I broke my
elbow last year and it didn’t heal very well so it still is a little weak.
• Day 11-20 Level 2
• Day 21-30 Level 3
• Additional minimum of 20 min cardio 6 days per week
• Yoga at least 3 days per week

Nutrition Program
• Measure Portions every meal
• Track food daily
• Drink 8 glasses of water daily
• Eat at least 5 servings freggies per day

Last weigh in 4/25 150.8lbs Need to lose 30.8lbs to reach my goal weight

Reward myself at these weights
145………Fitness gear off my personal wish list
140……… couple pairs shorts/shirts
135……… mani/pedi
130………workout outfits
125………New tattoo
120………Whole New WARDROBE

My workout for today was just the 30 day shred. Did a lot of house work so I am tired!

    GREAT job doing Day 1 of the 30 Day Shred. I saw your blog about your weigh in this morning. I hope you didn't let that get you down, and that you were able to do Day 2 today!

Remember, just because its 3 levels and 30 days, doesn't mean it HAS to be 10 days per level.. If you don't feel ready after Day 10, stick with level 1!

As far as your son's decaying teeth.. I honestly know what you're going through. My son is fine. My husband, however, just had two teeth pulled because of it.. I think the best thing to do for him is what you're doing right now- building a POSITIVE relationship with him and his dental experiences.
