Every once in a while, no matter what you do, you just have a hungry day. The usual suspects don't seem to be the cause - nor do the usual suspects fill you up. Yesterday was that kind of day for me
In my case, I knew this particular one was hormonally driven- that knowledge doesn't make me any less hungry. It was all compounded by the fact that we were going out to dinner, but DH couldn't make up his mind about where so I couldn't plan for it. The best I could do was try to leave enough space for dinner.
I stuck to my plan, breakfast, lunch & a snack. But because I was so hungry I ate something almost every 2 hrs - sometimes just sn hour after I'd eaten. But all those unplanned snacks were either fruits or veggies: a banana, some celery, a cup of grapes. It really seemed to work for me. I tried to pick things that were filling, not empty calories like cookies, chips or pretzels.
Dinner was actually quite interesting. We went to a Chinese restaurant that has a lot of unusual items on their menu. I'm not a real big fan of Chinese, but I enjoy this restaurant. I got a vegetarian duck appetizer. It was sort of like tofu phyllo wrapped around mushrooms & bamboo shoots, marinated in some sort of sauce. It didn't exactly taste like duck, but was reminiscent of it.
DH got cold salted duck (not my cup of tea) & soup dumplings, which are, indeed, dumplings with soup inside. We got the honey fried shrimp & walnuts with mayo sauce to share - obviously not low fat but I only had 2 (large) shrimp, so not so bad. And I rounded it out with a large dish of garlic broccoli. I took half of mine home.
This is a strategy I'll have to remember to try again next month - eat more often, but only freggies.
