Rookie 5K Your Way Challenge

I started this 5k challenge 8 weeks ago and am very happy to say I completed a "virtual" 5k run this morning. It took me 52 minutes - not the best time but something to shoot for the next time. I jogged most of the way, only walking long enough to catch my breath. So definitely some goals to shoot for. I will be traveling for 3 solid days starting tomorrow morning and so will have limited access to any serious exercising, but after I've landed, it's back to the 5k training for me. My goal is to run a real one and to run it faster.

    Congratulations! What a feeling of accomplishment! I must admit, I was at least as proud of myself for continuing to jog AFTER completing the 5K challenge. Hope your travels go well and your running shoes greet you like old friends on your return.

Measurements other than the scale

I'm feeling a bit frustrated on one hand (the scale refuses to budge). But on the other hand, I am fitting into smaller sizes, I have lots more energy, I'm sleeping better, and my BP/HR have come down. The reduced BP /HR was a very definite surprise (wasn't something I was shooting for). So I'm trying really hard to not let the scale bring me down. And I'm double-checking my fitness & nutrion tracker entries for accuracy. So we'll see.

Joined the January Jumpstart Challenge Team today and I am excited about it! It seems I've kinda gotten into a rut (was still exercising, but just wasn't as excited about it as initially). So Day 1 and counting!!

  Sad to say I didn't complete this challenge - just couldn't get into it - recently started a 5k training and hope this is better

Celebration of changes

I've struggled with emotional/stress eating, stressing about that over which I have control and wondering if I can pull it all together at the end of the day. So tonight's blog is to celebrate the changes I've noticed over the past several months - a celebration AND a reminder to keep on with my lifestyle changes.

Things to celebrate include having more energy, feeling less pain in my joints, being able to sleep better at night and having fewer instances of acid reflux!! I am less out of breath when I do things and my recovery time after exercise is much better.

So although my weight loss has not been as it could be, I am newly resolved to get back/stay on track. I've recently added Zumba to my exercise routine and I am hoping this change will shake things up a bit and propel me forward off my plateau.

  


Stress eating substitution

Stress/emotional eating has often been my downfall. And I am dealing with some unexpected stress now, but this time I'm substituting exercising for eating. And every morning I am going to remind myself of this plan. The after-glow of exercise feels sooooo much better than the after effects of over-eating!!

    good for you. I am an emotional eater, since I was a very young child. Food was my comfort, my drug and my friend. It makes things much harder now but I have to believe we can all overcome these things.

  good for you...... I can say that I can totally understand how you feel and reading how you chose to exercise instead of eat I say YES that is over coming a hard point emoticon
