Good Morning! (Positive thought to start the day!)
Yesterday was SURPRISINGLY
I hardly slept at all, so I thought it was going to be a looooong, dragging day, but it turned out really good. I woke up at about 1:30am, wide awake. I decided to just make the best of it, so I went downstairs and started doing "STUFF". I did 3 loads of laundry and folded 4. I made lunches and snacks for the morning. I sorted and bundled Box Tops. I cleaned the bathroom. I fed the cats. I paid some bills. I have not been that productive in ages!
After the rest of the family was up, I showered (a great perk of being organized in the morning). I dressed. I got undecided child to pick a Halloween costume. I got the kids on their busses. I went to my scheduled PTA meeting early and got the business for after the meeting accomplished before it!!
This of course opened up a couple hours in my day which afforded me time to get a cup of coffee and go for a quick walk with a friend. Of course I forgot to eat lunch with all of this running around, but I went to the store and made a (somewhat) healthy choice (after wandering the aisles for 10 minutes) of a bag of snack nuts with cocoa and some other healthy ingredients. I ate 1/3 of the package (one serving) at 140 calories. I had a paper bowl in the car from one of the kids snacks and I put my (small) portion in it and sealed the bag back up. I ate 1/2 of it right away (I was really hungry) and saved the rest until I got to the YOGA studio. My friend was there early as well, so we sat in the sun for a few minutes and chatted while I ate the rest of my snack slowly. It was VERY satisfying!
Yoga was amazing. This was my third session and I am loving it more and more. The dynamics of the semi private class are so different from a group class. We laugh and ask so many questions and get very detailed answers. I REALLY like it and I feel FANTASTIC afterwards. It (along with the cappuccino) kept me energized for the rest of the day.
I was sure I would poop out by the time the kids got home from school, but I managed to stay focused and cheery and we even baked pumpkin chocolate chip blondies after homework was done (box mix from Trader Joe's - yum). Hubby and I made dinner together and we all sat at he table and had a great night.
At bedtime I wasn't even tired yet! I managed to stay up for a bit to watch TV with Hubby and went to bed by 10:00. It was a great day. We did have a bit of a mishap with one of the kids slipping on the bathroom floor and cutting himself, but I managed to stay calm and get him through it and this morning he says it's not too bad.
Of course, I only slept until 2:30, but I figured that was better than the night before. I got a bunch of stuff done, second load of laundry is in now (lots of towels last night in the bathroom incident). I tried to go back to sleep for a bit, but it didn't work. I guess it's the full moon, or maybe I need to go back to the acupuncturist.
I have a pretty full day today including a meeting, walking and a lunch date, and after school sports. I am planning to stick it out just like yesterday and hopefully I will get back to my normal routine soon.

I have been super active this week! I have something planned for everyday. Sunday I walked and rode. Monday I worked out and danced. Today I ran and rode. Tomorrow is Yoga. Thursday is a run and Friday is a walk. The next 3 days are all planned activities, each with a different work out buddy. Each day is a different activity to avoid sore muscles and achy joints. I am so pleased with the schedule and hope I can keep it up.
I am back on track with my vegan diet. I just had a 300 calorie salad with tons of greens, veggies and grains. I am making the family grilled chicken teriyaki for dinner, so mine will be tofu teriyaki. I have lots of veggies in the fridge, so I will just pick whatever looks oldest and grill that too!
I am doing ok with the positive thoughts. and patience I just bought a magazine with an article about meditating in it and how to fit it in to your life. I think this may be helpful.

I am having a positive day! I am trying very hard to see the world in a brighter light, trying to make the world around me a better, more positive place. I started my day off getting dressed, putting the kids on the school bus and got myself dressed for a walk outside.
I added a tomato to my breakfast banana. It was just kind of a fun idea. The tomato was yellow and ripe and looked so inviting on the counter next to my yellow banana that I decided to eat them both. I sliced up the tomato and salted it and ate it as I finished getting ready to leave. I brought the banana in the car with me so I wouldn't be late.
My friend and I walked and talked for over an hour in a pretty neighborhood by the beach. Then we took an extra ten minutes and just stretched down by the water. What a beautiful day it is today. Next we drove to town and ate brunch in a place with a new VEGAN menu! It is so good. I had the Avocado Lunch Toast. It is whole grain vegan bread, toasted and spread with avocado and hummus and topped with cucumbers and microgreens. I was so hungry. I ate the whole thing! Next time I want to try the "Chickpea Tuna"!!
While we were walking and talking, (we are very different so we like to get the others opinions on things so we can see another point of view), I tried to make sure all of my opinions were expressed in a positive way. I was very conscious of making this decision. It felt good to look at things in a more positive way, which is one of my goals right now.
When I got home, I got a call from a very needy friend. I really reached out to her and tried to take care of her needs for an hour that we both had free. I made her a cup of tea, and fed her the last piece of noodle kugel that we all know was really doing me a favor by putting it in her undernourished body instead of mine which is trying to maintain a vegan diet. She was so appreciative of the sweet snack which made me feel good about feeding her and giving her my time. My time doesn't seem to be available much to her lately due to school and child related activities.
In general, I feel like I am making a conscious effort to be a more positive person and to make those around me more positive and to include people who are already more positive in my life.
For October, I am going to make one of my goals being positive.
Goals for October:
1. maintain vegan diet
2. fitness with trainer 1-2 days a week
3. Yoga 1x a week
4. Walking 3+ x a week
5. Start the day with a positive thought
6. Try to say something positive to EVERYONE you meet
7. be patient
8. be thoughtful
9. be in the moment
It seems like a lot to work on, but there are really only 4 things broken down into smaller moments: Nutrition, Exercise, Attitude, and Interaction.
I want to be the best person I can be.
I want to be healthy.
I want to be happy.
I want those around me to be healthy and happy.

There was an article on SP this morning about changing things up for fall today. I think this is such a great idea.
All of the tips are great, but the ones I am focusing on right now are reinventing my fitness program and refreshing my meal plans.
I love walking outside. It is so beautiful out right now. The temperature is perfect for outdoor exercise. I am planning on adding 2 walks a week to the fitness program I already do.
I also love squash and pumpkin and brussels sprouts. I plan on adding these to my meals to keep me from getting bored even though I love what I have been eating all summer. I am even going apple picking this weekend! Yum!
