October 15, 2012 Thank-you Motivation!

I haven't updated in a few days, I have been so busy and didn't even have the chance yesterday to log on and see what was happening in this lovely sparkpeople world! This past weekend I went somewhat haywire with my diet...I went out with some friends on Saturday night and didn't eat (or drink) too well but we did go dancing so I (somewhat) got a little bit of a cardio fix. Today I had a bit of a food rampage and didn't get in a lot of vegetables so I will be making sure I have an extra side of greens tomorrow in my lunch, snacks, and dinner. I also made myself workout tonight even though I wasn't feeling like I should but I am so glad I did! I have been struggling through the beginnings of a cold and I think my workout tonight helped make me feel a little better! It was only about 30-35 minutes but better than nothing! It took myself a good convincing but if I am really sticking to this "new me" plan I need to suck it up and workout even when I don't feel like getting off the couch! Every bit counts right?

Anyways, this isn't the most exciting update. I will perhaps have a better entry tomorrow!

Well today is going to be a slow one. I woke up with a bit of a cold, so I am really contemplating a workout today. I don't really feel like getting up but at the same time maybe a short workout will make me feel a little better. I am going to rest for the day and see how I feel later and if I can, I will go for a run or maybe workout in my basement again. Yesterday I did a 40 minute workout and I played a workout video that worked on my arms and legs with the use of a stability ball...can I just say, MY ARMS AND LEGS ARE SO SORE! I am really surprised about how out of shape I am. I will be going to use that video quite a bit and I also have some Julian Michaels workout videos on hold that I will be using in the future. I still need to work my abs and back. That is always the worst part of my exercise regime. I always find ab workouts are the hardest and most painful but I am going to try to push through and tone up.

I probably won't be posting my meals today since I am not feeling well and I will probably just be sipping on broth or soup all day with tea. I have also joined the stress challenge so I am trying to blog about my stress levels. Right now I am pretty relaxed since I finished my midterm yesterday, so right now it's nice to have bit of a break because shortly I will be studying for midterms in about a week or so.

October 11, 2012 Lunch Among Other Things...

I am so proud of myself right now! I have more self control then what I originally thought. Today I had my Chemistry midterm which I think I did very well in and I am confident on the work I did during the exam! BUT that is not what I am mostly excited about...after my exam my stomach was grumbling and I almost had the urge to go buy something quick but I remembered that I set the goal to post my photos on here of my meals when I could, and it made me think twice about going to get unhealthy food. Instead, I went to the grocery store and bought some yummy healthy food and this is what my lunch is for the day: Couscous with grilled red and yellow peppers and a glass of cranberry raspberry juice.



I am really happy that I was able to control myself and make the right decision. I think I need to realise it is easier then it seems to make a healthy meal. I always had the impression meals that were good for you and were yummy took a lot of time to create when in all actuality they don't! This lunch took me 5-10 minutes tops to create! After lunch I think I will workout. I wasn't about to get any exercise in yesterday. I stopped studying around 10:00pm and by that time I was exhausted so I thought it would be better to go to bed and get some rest before my exam. Since that's all over, and I have the rest of the day to myself, I think I will go for a walk or some other activity!

Dinner Entry- October 10, 2012

This is my second blog entry for the day, but I decided that I am going to try to track the food I eat and add the photos in my blog. I think if I have to show what I am eating to the rest of sparkpeople, it will make me prepare better meals. It will also be a good thing to relate back to in the future to see my progress with meal planning.

For my first entry, here is my dinner for the evening. Cucumber salad with bell peppers and celery in a home-made apple cider vinaigrette. Yum yum!

Today was the second day of this journey and so far so good. I am still very positive since it is just the beginning, and I am still running on that inspirational high that so many of us feel when we choose to start exercising again. I am just hoping that it sticks. There are some goals I would like to complete that will increase my chances of success:

- To post on sparkpeople every day
- Read articles that could help me throughout this journey
- Exercise for a minimum of 10 minutes a day
- Cut out all soda from my diet
- No more sweets and extra sugar

I have my first midterm tomorrow for this semester, so I am stressing out a little but I feel prepared. University is a big reason I so easily fall off the bandwagon with weight-loss and exercise plans. I always feel like I don't have the time to take out of my schedule to fit in a fitness plan. I'm hoping these goals will be able to kickstart my motivation and keep me on the right path. I also downloaded the sparkpeople apps and have been using them to track my meals and water. Tonight will be my first day I exercise, I might not be able to get in a large amount of time but I am going to try to workout for 30 mins.
