Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning. Benjamin Franklin
July 21 I started writing out some goals for the last 6 weeks of the summer. I have had a mixture of success and letdowns with my goals. But I am okay with that. I am focussing on progress and not perfection. And I have made progress. So here is a review of my goals.
Fitness - I haven't always made my daily goals, but I am more active than I was before July 21. I may not get out for a walk on all the days I had planned, but I am doing some fitness activities on those days (gardening being one of my favourites).
Nutrition - I have been making up my menu plans for the weeks, even if I don't always stick to them. Sometimes life just throws challenges into the days that results in changes. This past week I had to call the ambulance to take my Mom to emergency. She was dehydrated and her electrolytes were off, so she was there 6-7 hours while they checked her out and got things back on track. Needless to say, that day we did not stick to our planned meal because we were not at home. And with this nice weather we have opted a couple of times to join friends at the park for an impromptu picnic.
With all the fresh fruits available this time of year I have been enjoying getting my 5-7 servings of freggies almost every day. I have a small garden plot in the backyard, and have been enjoying a harvest of fresh cucumbers, baby carrots, and green beans.
Rest - I have been mostly getting 7-8 hours each night, except on the very warm nights, when it is difficult to sleep.
Organization - Well lets just say this is a challenge! But I am not giving up!
Journal- Managing to enter something in my journal about 3 times/week - more than I was doing before.
Spiritual - There has been progress - more focussed on getting into the Word than I was before and I am enjoying doing my study of the book of James. Need to work on consistency though.
Over the last few weeks I have tweaked and modified my goals to suit me. I am pleased with my progress, but mostly I am happy just for hanging in there.
