Day 4-183

Saturday, April 12, 2008

My first six months is behind me and now I have six months until I'm 59. I remember always loving April 12th, because then I was "so many years and ONE-HALF." Well, now 58 1/2 doesn't have that appeal, but I sure am healthier than I was 1/2 year ago. I'm so thankful that I found SPARKPEOPLE and I can focus on getting to my goal. I love the idea of being THIN once again. I'm a thin person, and always have been so I'll be ME again.
I'm still working on my ZUMBA music from YouTube.
I went to the library today and had them go through Inter-library loan and get me the DVD's of ZUMBA for Beginners and the 2nd one, ZUMBA for Advanced. They are about $175 for the two on EBay, and I don't want to pay that for them.
I just have to wait 3 to 6 weeks for the library to get the DVDs to me.

I know I am reading this blog, months after you wrote it, but thats OK. My Mom died when she was 49 years old, from complications from stomach stapling operation. But I was not close to her. Anyway, glad you are gall-stone free...and thanx for the info. on You tube music videos for exercising to.

Thanks a bunch for the comments!

Your story reminds me of my mother's -- she has four children: 28, 25, 23, and 5. She too remained thin until her last baby (at 42). She packed on a few pounds and never managed to lose 'em, though she's working on it now.

Just stopped by to say thanks! And I LOVE your attitude!

I saw your comment on another person's blog about Youtube weightloss comfirmations. Thank you for providing this! I will look it up! I wonder if they have hypnosis, too. I have an mp3 file of weight loss hypnosis; I should look it up. Thanks for getting me motivated again!

Day 1-180

Wednesday, April 09, 2008

This is Day 180 that I've signed into Sparkpeople, but my #1 Blog entry. I hadn't wanted to do a Blog, but I'm at Stage 3, Step 5 on the Diet and it says Do a Blog. So, I'll start one.
1:46 P.M. Start.
I've only lost 30# which is 1/2 of what I'd like to have lost since I started, but I've been doing this daily and changed a lot. My back hurt so bad that I couldn't stand at the sink to wash dishes without pain across my shoulder-blades and lower back, and that has gotten much better with 30# off my fat gut! I had this "shelf" roll beneath my bra that I could lay my arm across. Not there now.
I'll get to my goal, because I'm not going to gain any of this back ever again. I'm going to stay on this every day.
I've been sad the last month, because I've gotten to 58 years 5 months, the age my mother was when she had a heart attack and died when I was 17, the age Maggie is now. She smoked and her "nerve symptoms" were not noticed for heart disease. She was 1/2 cherokee Indian and they have a 90% chance of gall bladder disease, which she had at age 40 with 4 hands-full of gallstones, that the doctor removed. They are from cholesterol. So, it is something I understand now. I've had an ultrasound and have no gallstones.
I just realize that my mother wasn't very old when she died. I don't feel "old" at all, and in fact, I never intend to feel old. I'm going to be like OLAN in THE GOOD EARTH and not complain. I'm just going to be thankful for having lived.

This is a very insightful first blog. Try not to be sad for your mom; try to have the outlook that you have decided you want for your life; being thankful for having her and that she lived. . . That is a very powerful statement. Do you mind if I adopt it, too? You have started on the right path, and a re making the changes. I know you will do this!

Great job on losing 30 pounds!

I too lost my mom, she was only 56. Not one day goes by that I don't miss her! Great job and making the changes so you can be around for your daughter (she is beautiful)

Good Luck!

Pat yourself on the back, Jibbie, for recognizing what you don't want in your life and take that all important crucial step to getting what you do want, better health.

It is slow and sometimes frustrating when loosing weight, but will be so worth it in the end.

KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB!!

    Congratulations on your first blog!

My dh's paternal side of the family is Cherokee Indian and they struggle with diabetes. He's been blessed with good health so far. I'm trying to get myself in line so I can keep him and the girls on a healthy diet and exercise regimen.

Slow and steady wins the race! You're making great progress. =)
