Adopting healthy habits equals positive change

Since adopting healthy eating and activity habits, I've noticed a lot of positive changes in myself. I have more confidence, and I'm happier overall. Plus, I have a lot of energy. I only had a minor (2 pound) uptick in weight over the holiday season, unlike the usual 10 or so that I usually experience, which is directly correlated with running and making healthy food choices (with a few indulgences here and there).

I do a variety of exercises (run, walk, spin, Body Pump, Body Combat, yoga), but I can still find myself in a rut if I'm not careful to mix it up. What I've been doing for the past few days is swapping morning workouts for evening workouts. Whichever time I choose for my workout, I make sure I go for a brisk walk either the evening or monring that same day. This seems to be working, and my body is "fooled" so far.

Changes since adopting healthy habits

I've noticed several changes since adopting healthy habits. First of all, my food portions are smaller. I tend to snack less (except for the occasional "slip up"). I am also addicted to fitness. Although I allow myself to take a rest from exercise from time to time, I generally try to work out everyday. On my "rest" days, I try to at least get in a 20-30 minute walk.

Another big change is my attitude about myself! I respect myself more, and I'm actually a little kinder to myself (that is, I don't "beat" myself up as much as I used to for the occasional slip up).

I'm taking this slowly but surely, and I'm seeing some gradual changes.

Motivation

What helps motivate me is to focus on small goals. For example, staying within my calories today or trying a new class at the gym tonight. There are so many so-called baby steps that we can take to make a big difference and stay motivated.
