Shred it w/ weights

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Started to do the level 1 of Jillian Michael's shred it w/ weights on Monday which was the 20th of September, so today was my 3rd day and I can say this is my new fav workout. I started the first 2 days using a dumbell since I didnt have a kettlebell but decided to buy one last night and I love it way more than the dumbell lol. Its more intense with the kettlebell so I feel Im getting a better workout that way. I love using the kettlebell.. some of you should think about trying it if you havent already. I read kettlebell training burns about 1200 calories an hour emoticon... yup thats right! Well lets see how I do with this new regimen from here on out emoticon I may even go out and buy the dvd (using the workout on my cable demand)

Aren't Kettlebells the best! I can't believe how fast the weight has been dropping since I've been using them.

You're probably read this before from me but I got into them as a result of a Prevention magazine story and JUST LOVE THEM. Wow -- such great pay off for so little time.

You know we're having a kettlebell chat on Tuesday (Oct. 5 at 9:15 p.m. CT, 10:15p.m. ETC; I put it on the team announcements). Please drop in if you get a minute -- I'd love to hear more about what you're doing.

You are all right.. Im now realizing that. Here I was beating myself up for not losing at least a pound in this past week. I usually lose at least that but like you all said.. my clothes are fitting better, I have more energy, and I feel better about myself then I have these past 6+ yrs. Being healthier is more important than the number on the scale. Thanks everyone! emoticon emoticon emoticon

A person should never feel bad because the scale isn't moving. Also, folks have to realize that they won't see dramatic changes in their weight or body in less than a week. This is not the Biggest Loser. People will not see dramatic changes like those. Those losses are just not typical.

Unfortunately, too many people still tie their emotional state to a number that stares at them from between their toes in the morning. There is far more to good health than that number.

Let's look for other ways to gauge our success that don't involve the scale. Are your clothes fitting better ? Do you have more energy ? How's your blood pressure ? How's your cholesterol ? How's your blood sugar ? How many push ups can you do ? How fast can you run a mile ?

All of the above are indicators of success that aren't measured by the scale. If your blood pressure were to go down, your doctor would still be thrilled even if you didn't lose any weight.

The article is spot on.

I haven't weighed myself in months. I refuse because the scale can't tell me how many push ups I can do.

This is so true, I often comment on peoples bloggs who are always looking at the scale alone as the tool to measure their success.

Throughout the whole 30 day shred I never logged my weight, and for good reason, apparently in the whole time I only lost 1kg. (2lbs) I can tell you now though that my body shape HAS changed dramatically and those changes cant be measured on the scale.

Dont put yourself on a scale if you think that it will demotivate you if it doesnt show the right figure. It simply isnt worth it. Instead look at your body and enjoy the small changes day by day you will see. emoticon

This is sooo true. People depend on the numbers on the scale, but there are so many other factors to consider! Try tracking your measurements also... pay attention to how your clothes fit, as well as how you feel in general and what you're able to do (e.g. climb multiple flights of stairs without feeling tired or short of breat, etc). You might find you're sleeping better, have more energy throughout the day, and are making healthier choices in other aspects of your life... all of which will add up to eventual weight loss and even more importantly, a healthier you emoticon

Losing inches woohooo!!

Sunday, July 04, 2010

Well today I put my pants on and they are more loose than they were the last time I worn them yaaay making progress. I went down another hole in my belt so Im very happy about that. Got me thinking though.. does every belt hole equal a pant size emoticon Not sure but that would be very cool if it was cause so far Ive gone down 3 holes emoticon 22lbs down and 71 more to go emoticon

Excellent ! That's awesome ! There's nothing like the feeling of a pair of pants getting loose, just wait til they're falling off your hips !
